Fu Chenlie stared into her eyes and after a few seconds of silence, countered, "Why, can’t I kiss you?"
She replied, "I didn’t say you can’t, I just want to know why. According to your rules, now isn’t the ti for us to kiss."
His gaze grew deeper.
Why kiss her?
He kissed her simply because he wanted to, and there was no specific reason at the ti.
But if he had to say why, it was probably because he found it very vivid when she acted cautiously in front of him, as if trying to slip away from his sight.
He always liked to see the different emotions Wen Ran displayed in front of him, whether happy, pleased, or cautious.
Also, he especially enjoyed seeing her act as if she was about to run away, as if he were so predatory beast ready to devour her at any mont.
Just now, watching her trying to avoid him and leave the study, a thought crossed his mind in an instant, and the uncontrollable desire to kiss her and entangle with her lips erged from within.
So, he simply followed his heart and did just that.
When he gathered his thoughts, he t Wen Ran’s gaze and, instead of answering, he asked, "Why do you think I kissed you?"
She pursed her lips, hesitated for a while, and finally voiced her inner speculation, "Is it because you think I’m beautiful, you like , so you kissed ?"
"Like you?"
He chuckled lightly, "Mrs. Fu is quite narcissistic."
Wen Ran, "..."
She couldn’t compare with you.
She didn’t say it outright but asked him again, "Isn’t it because you like ?"
He gave her an ambiguous answer, "A man wanting to kiss a woman certainly doesn’t an he dislikes her."
Wen Ran was puzzled.
So, does he like her?!
She didn’t understand why he wouldn’t just answer her question directly.
In her view, without a clear answer, interpreting his actions based on her own thoughts could easily lead to misunderstandings.
Not knowing whether she should believe that Fu Chenlie could like her, or thinking it aningless to pursue the answer, Wen Ran did not ask further.
She yawned and looked at him pitifully, "Husband, I’m really sleepy. Can I go to sleep?"
"Go ahead."
"Mhm."
"This weekend we’re going to the Fu Residence, you rember?"
"Rember, it’s to visit Grandma."
Fu Chenlie humd in confirmation and gestured for her to leave.
Wen Ran left without looking back.
...
Friday.
As Wen Ran drove Fu Chenlie to the company, she heard his phone ringing.
She thought it was just a normal work call and didn’t pay much attention.
But then, a vague sneer slipped from his lips.
While Wen Ran was puzzled about what he ant, she heard Fu Chenlie’s voice, "Mrs. Fu, guess who called ?"
She glanced at him while driving, "How would I know?"
He replied with heavy irony, "Your admirer, Tan Qiming."
Wen Ran, "..."
While checking the rearview mirror, she rolled her eyes silently.
Was Tan Qiming calling him about a collaboration?
What did that have to do with her?
Why did she feel from Fu Chenlie’s tone as if the call from Tan Qiming had mistakenly co to her phone?
Seeing her silently driving, Fu Chenlie spoke again, "I guess your admirer called to inquire about my stance on the collaboration. Mrs. Fu, tell , should I agree to it or reject it?"
Wen Ran, "..."
She just realized that Fu Chenlie was indeed a very interesting person.
Why ask her about the collaboration?!
Could she decide?
Or did she understand?!
