Wen Ran didn’t understand why he suddenly had this strange request, given her current mindset.
Just a few minutes ago, he had looked like he wanted to kill soone, and now he wanted her to kiss him?!
Why was he so capricious?
She pursed her lips slightly and counter-questioned, "Why should I kiss you?"
Fu Chenlie looked at her eyes, still slightly red from crying, and lifted his hand from the sofa to touch her head, slowly opening his mouth, "Firstly, this is a necessary process for fostering affection, and secondly, one kiss in exchange for clearing your doubts is a good deal, isn’t it?"
It was a good deal, but she was still upset from being scared by him and now she was supposed to kiss him; why did it feel so odd?
He stared at her silent figure, "What, are you unwilling?"
As his words fell, without waiting for her to reply, he guessed again, "Or are you still angry at ? Angry that I scared you into crying?"
Wen Ran, "..."
Her mind was quite sharp indeed.
She looked at him with eyes filled with a hint of grievance and suddenly leaned close, leaving a touch-and-go kiss on his left cheek, before pulling away, "I kissed you, now can you tell what your appointnt with Ms. Xu was about?"
Fu Chenlie smiled lightly, "Although you were perfunctory, considering you cried, I’ll answer you."
Wen Ran pursed her lips.
Soon, she heard him say, "The dinner was arranged by Xu Tong, who wanted to thank for dealing with an urgent matter for her and also chatted a bit about things related to Wan Ning."
Wan Ning...
It really did involve her.
Wen Ran watched him and inquired, "Has there been any news from Ms. Wan Ning?"
"Not yet."
"If she returns, do we still have to maintain our marriage for a full year as per the agreent? Or will you divorce the mont she returns?"
Fu Chenlie looked at her with an indiscernible expression, "It’s in black and white; I can’t break the agreent just because I want to."
The latter humd, "I see."
Fu Chenlie raised his hand to rub her hair, "Alright, get so rest early. Aren’t you eting your Grandma tomorrow?"
Wen Ran felt that rubbing her hair was too intimate an action for their relationship.
But since he had already done it, there was no use talking about it.
She nodded, "Goodnight."
Fu Chenlie turned and left her room.
Wen Ran watched his back, and for so reason, many lancholic thoughts arose in her heart.
If Jiang Wan Ning returned and he wouldn’t divorce her imdiately, should she hope for Jiang Wan Ning’s return sooner rather than later?
It would be better after the divorce.
If Jiang Wan Ning returned during her marriage to Fu Chenlie, wouldn’t Fu Chenlie be with Jiang Wan Ning every day, neglecting his ho?
In that case, Grandma would definitely be unhappy again, and as Mrs. Fu, she would feel annoyed.
Powerless to change the status quo, she could only experience the resentnt of being cheated on, the thought alone was irritating.
After Fu Chenlie left, Wen Ran got up and went to the bathroom, looking at her red eyes in the mirror, she took a deep breath; he had really scared her earlier.
For a mont, she thought she would beco the protagonist in countless dostic violence news stories.
Fortunately, that wasn’t the case.
She truly didn’t know what she would do if she had been hit.
...
The next day.
While Wen Ran was still imrsed in a deep sleep, she thought she heard the door open, but she was too sleepy, so she treated it as a noise in her dream and ignored it, turning over to continue sleeping.
Until—
She felt herself being picked up.
