Renee Winslow had already ntally prepared herself for Jack Yates’s engagent to soone else and their peaceful breakup. To her, this was actually the best outco.

Thinking about their imminent separation, her heart was filled with mixed emotions—uncertain whether she felt relieved or sad.

It wasn’t true to say she didn’t care at all. After all, they had been together for over a year, a year filled with laughter and argunts, their body and soul gradually becoming in sync. But now, they were about to part ways, which inevitably left her feeling a bit troubled.

But she understood clearly that their separation was predestined; this day was bound to co sooner or later.

Thinking about this, she felt a sense of relief.

She waited for Jack Yates to finish showering and co out to confess to her. However, when Jack erged from the shower, he simply lifted the covers and lay on the bed without ntioning the engagent.

"Not sleeping yet?" Jack slid his arm under her neck, pulling her into his arms, "Sleep now."

Renee Winslow turned to face him, snuggling further into his embrace.

Jack’s hand slid down her back, his voice deep and seductive, "Want sothing?"

"No," Renee hurriedly pulled his hand out from under the blanket and lifted her head from his embrace, "Caleb Yates ca by tonight."

Jack’s eyes narrowed, "You saw him?"

Renee quickly replied, "I did, through the fence. He didn’t co in."

Jack reached his hand back into the blanket, touching her deeply, his voice slightly heavy, "What did you talk about?"

As he spoke, his fingers lightly kneaded and twisted.

Renee made a soft sound, quickly biting her lip to silence it.

Jack pinched with two fingers, giving a hard twist, "What did you talk about with him?"

The young lady, not yet twenty, was tender like a blooming flower in early spring, a gentle squeeze revealing her feelings.

Renee clutched his shoulder, breathing heavily, "He spoke highly of you, said that all the paternal affection he felt in childhood ca from you. I feel he respects you a lot, whereas you..."

"What about ?" Jack narrowed his eyes, his long fingers pressed forcefully, squeezing in, "You an I stole his girlfriend, right?"

Renee pushed his muscular arm, trying to stop him, "I didn’t an that. I ant, he’s your nephew after all, you should get along and stop fighting."

The key is that continuous fighting isn’t good for anyone; it’s harmful to her, making The Yateses hate her even more.

Jack withdrew his hand, pressing his moist fingers against Renee’s lips, "It’s him who repeatedly provoked ."

As he spoke, his fingertip rubbed heavily against her lips.

Renee disdainfully pushed his hand away, "Even without you, I wouldn’t be with Caleb Yates."

Jack chuckled, "Why?"

Renee: "We went to the sa school, so I naturally know about his dating history. I don’t like his roguish, rebellious nature."

Jack lifted her chin with his finger, "How do you know my dating history isn’t rich?"

Renee looked at him with clear eyes, "You told you weren’t married, didn’t have a girlfriend, nor had been with other won. Jack, I trust what you said; as long as you say you haven’t, I’ll believe it."

Jack suddenly rolled over, pressing down, biting heavily on her lips.

Renee turned her head to avoid him, wiping her mouth with the back of her hand, "You just sared it on my mouth, now you’re kissing, aren’t you disgusted?"

Jack kissed her lips again, smiling, "As if I’d never tasted it before?"

Renee’s face heated up, turning red as she turned away from him.

Jack looked at her blushing shy face, feeling a pang of desire, leaning down to kiss her again—a long, lingering kiss.

The kiss was so intense that neither could contain themselves, Jack promptly lifted the quilt, lowering himself.

Renee kicked him, "Jack, you..."

The rest of her words replaced by a soft moan.

After a while, Jack raised his head, moving closer to her face to kiss her.

Renee hurriedly used her hand to push his face, "You cannot kiss !"

Jack grabbed her wrist, laughing as he pressed down, "Disgusted at your own?"

Renee retorted with a flushed face, "Nonsense, if I had your produced substance in my mouth and fed it to you, would you want it?"

Jack raised an eyebrow with a smile, "How do you know I wouldn’t want it? Want to try?"

On the first day of the New Year, Renee Winslow woke up late, only getting up after ten.

When she got up, Jack had already left.

Jack never confessed to her, nor did he ntion the engagent at all.

Since Jack didn’t bring it up, Renee didn’t ask either.

She hinted to him last night; as long as he said he hadn’t, she’d believe it.

But Jack said nothing.

Shay cooked a few dumplings for Renee and heated a cup of milk.

Lunchti was prepared by Aunty Warren, who then returned ho to spend the New Year with her children.

After eating, Renee called Jack.

"Can I go out this afternoon? I haven’t gone out for a long ti and want to wander around today, maybe catch a movie."

This year’s New Year films were quite good; several were worth watching.

Jack: "Sure, wait for , I’m coming to pick you up."

Renee: "You handle your work, no need to co back. I’ll go out with Shay."

Jack: "No worries, I’m not busy."

After hanging up, Renee dashed downstairs excitedly to tell Shay, "Shana, get ready. We’ll go shopping later."

Shay looked surprised, "Did Mr. Yates allow you to go out?"

Renee replied with a smile, "He’s coming back soon."

Over half an hour later, Jack returned.

New Year’s Day, the streets were crowded, the malls were packed, and the cinemas were almost full.

Jack went to a Starkwood Group-owned mall without notifying the manager, directly booking an entire VIP luxury room privately.

Before the movie started, Renee took Shay for a stroll in the mall, the two hand in hand, each holding a drink, chatting and laughing as they went from one shop to another.

Jack didn’t have the patience to accompany the two young ladies strolling the mall; he waited directly in the cinema VIP room.

Renee and Shay walked into a luxury flagship store, just about to pick up a blue crocodile leather handbag to examine it, when they heard a girl with long blonde hair beside them ask, "When are you and Jack Yates getting engaged?"

Her outstretched hand paused mid-air, then slowly retreated.

Shay, standing beside Renee, naturally heard as well. Shay squeezed Renee’s arm gently.

Renee made a gesture for silence, and Shay widened her eyes, nodding.

The two tacitly remained silent, pretending to know nothing, continuing to shop around the store.

Sydney Thorne replied, "Probably around National Day."

The blonde girl brushed her hair that fallen in front of her, asking, "Why wait so long?"

Sydney smiled, "I just returned, and I’m still not familiar with him. I need ti to get to know him before making a decision."

The blonde girl said, "What is there to decide? He’s the third son of The Yateses, many socialites in Northcity are dying to marry him. Don’t let Wren Hawthorne fool you now that she’s engaged to The Second Young Master Shaw Michael Shaw; she’s still thinking about Jack Yates. I bet that if Jack showed interest in Wren, she’d break off her engagent with Michael Shaw for him."

Sydney chuckled softly, "Yes, the harder to get, the more patient one must be. Can’t be hasty."

The blonde girl said with a smile, "But he agreed to get engaged to you. You’ve already won."

Sydney replied blandly, "There’s nothing to win."

The blonde girl: "Originally, he had no blemishes. Unfortunately, he couldn’t escape the norm and raised a female student; that seems to be his only flaw."

Sydney said nothing, picking up a handbag, examining it casually.

The blonde girl continued, "But you shouldn’t worry; that kind of girl is just a kept Canary, it won’t be serious."

The two talked and walked out.

Once they left the flagship store, the blonde girl gleefully linked arms with Sydney.

Sydney slapped her arm, "Alright, tone it down."

The blonde girl stifled her laughter, asking, "So how did I do? I didn’t slip up, did I?"

Sydney pinched her face, "Well done, I’ll give you an Oscar for Best Actress tomorrow!"

The blonde girl giggled, moving closer, asking earnestly, "Honestly, do you like Jack Yates?"
