After dinner, Shao Zifeng returned to the room his mother had prepared for him early.

They subtly agreed not to ntion the events of the day, luckily, Shao Yuying wasn’t the type to sit around playing with her phone online; she poured all her enthusiasm into tending the vegetable garden and taking care of Qiqi and the others.

The evening breeze rustled on the balcony, and the dim lights from the small buildings hidden amidst the trees emitted a holy glow.

He nestled in the lounge chair, with Qiqi curling up on his lap resting, while the energetic Qiuqiu used its little paws to groom his hair, mumbling sothing under its breath.

Shao Zifeng gently stroked Qiqi’s soft fur, his mind drifting back to the afternoon’s events, still feeling a bit of residual fear.

Fortunately, the little fellow’s trigger of "Speech Spirit Nine Lives" cost it a one-star drop in strength; if it had been a reduction in talent...

He would probably regret it for a lifeti.

Gazing into the dark night sky, Shao Zifeng narrowed his eyes slightly and murmured to himself, "The Li Family from Goryeo... Li Fangyan... Li Yiming."

Before Chen Yixin left him, she told him everything she knew, including that woman from three years ago, including the identity of Li Yiming, and of course, also including the century-old family behind it all, the Li Family from Goryeo.

She just wasn’t clear why the Li Family was so interested in him; could it be because of Li Yiming?

But Shao Zifeng couldn’t care less, upon learning who the mastermind behind everything was, his fury was such that he wished he could go directly to Goryeo to confront them, but in the end, he was stopped by Chen Yixin.

After calming down, he rembered his promise to the Ice Chi, and could only postpone his trip to Goryeo.

Thinking of this, Shao Zifeng stretched out his hand to touch his forehead, unclear as to why he had the sa rune appear on him as Qiuqiu, and unclear what activating that rune did, only knowing that his state at that ti had been very strange.

It felt as though he had beco a king above all, with all life appearing as ants in his eyes; this was completely unlike Shao Zifeng’s personality, yet strangely, he didn’t feel anything amiss at the ti.

Shao Zifeng rubbed his nose, his focus returning to Qiqi.

The little guy curled up on his legs, sleeping sweetly, its long tail coiling around itself as its body rhythmically rose and fell, producing purring sounds.

Seeing Qiqi’s adorable appearance made him even less able to accept that Qiqi only had such a short lifespan.

Shao Zifeng lifted his hand, the ancient silver ring twinkling under the starlight, the chaotic blood-red veins on it seemingly coming to life, each one erging in mid-air.

A rich black mist burst forth from the ring, hurtling toward a certain direction, the blood-red runes’ luster swirling, tightly binding the black mist together.

’Miser’ Jack’s tall and thin body slowly materialized, a flash of reluctance in its eyes before it slowly knelt on one knee.

"Master."

Qiuqiu stopped its movents, landing on Shao Zifeng’s shoulder and curiously watching this fellow.

Shao Zifeng glanced at it, his hand caressing the ancient silver ring, "Thinking of escaping?"

’Miser’ Jack’s face, covered in flowing runes, looked up with a rough voice, "Your subordinate dares not."

Shao Zifeng snorted lightly, "I called you out to ask you sothing; an old thing like you that has lived who knows how long should know quite a lot of strange and secret tales, right?"

’Miser’ Jack’s green eyes flickered slightly, "Whatever you wish to know, master."

Shao Zifeng pondered for a mont, "Do you know of any thods that can enable ordinary creatures to break the shackles of their original life limits?"

’Miser’ Jack replied with doubt, "Master, are you talking about immortality? However, you currently possess vigorous vitality and absolutely do not need to concern yourself with such matters."

Shao Zifeng’s expression chilled, "Cut the nonsense, answer what I ask."

Qiuqiu crossed its little paws and glared at ’Miser’ Jack, "Ying ying ying!"

"I admit my fault," ’Miser’ Jack lowered its head, the brim of its top hat concealing its face, and only the hoarse sound of its voice could be heard amidst the evening breeze, "Should mysterious and secretive tales be considered, I have heard that a sect will resurrect all the deceased on Judgnt Day, then God will grant them either eternal life or eternal death based on their faith’s sincerity. I do not know if this counts?"

"That does not count, continue."

’Miser’ Jack thought for a mont, "I recall the ancient Roman ’The Golden Ass’ describes a process where the spirits of the dead are summoned back from the Netherworld and the dead are temporarily resurrected, ’placing one grass on the deceased’s mouth and another on their chest. Facing the east, mute before the slowly rising magnificent sun...’"

Its voice grew gradually weaker as it looked at the stern gaze of Shao Zifeng and felt sowhat wronged, "You instructed to relate to the rare and secret matters of extending life..."

At this point, the fla in its eyes suddenly flickered a few tis, and with a sowhat ingratiating tone, it said, "If master allows, I can make a contract with those who need to extend their lives, such that I can absorb their remaining life force and turn it into a ghostly state, wouldn’t that break the life..."

"Ah!!!" ’Miser’ Jack’s face erupted with blood-colored runes, burning its body like a scorching sun, and it scread in pain while clutching its face, black smoke billowing from between its fingers.

"Master... I was wrong, I will not dare again... Ah!!!"

The rocking chair gently swayed as Shao Zifeng watched the night sky’s stars with a calm gaze, letting its miserable cries echo in the night wind.

Suddenly, ’Miser’ Jack seed to rember sothing and shouted in a hoarse voice, "Master... I have thought of sothing, I have thought of sothing... Ah!!!"

Shao Zifeng waved his hand, dulling the shimr on his ring.

"Speak."

’Miser’ Jack, trembling, rose from the ground and knelt on one knee again, fearfully regarding the silver ring on Shao Zifeng’s finger, "God... it’s a god, I heard a story from a thousand years ago about a handso man favored by a goddess, who gave him the power of eternal life."

"God."

Shao Zifeng repeated the word, suddenly recalling sothing from his ti in Eternal Divine Country, where Qiuqiu and the others received favors from ’gods’.

Especially the Big Cat, which like Qiqi represented an individual mutation, could absorb the crystals of energy left by the gods.

At this thought, Shao Zifeng’s breathing quickened, but he soon cald down.

The energy crystals left by deities certainly had miraculous effects, and Big Cat’s existence proved individual mutations could use them, as it could transform into a ghostly state to avoid being torn apart by the imnse energy.

However, Qiqi was indeed made of real flesh and blood. Shao Zifeng waved his hand irritably, "Co back for now."

"Yes."

’Miser’ Jack sighed with relief as its body instantly turned into a pitch-black smoke and surged into the silver ring—never before had it longed to return to the ring as much as it did now.

After it left, Shao Zifeng furrowed his brows.

Qiqi also possessed a special ability, it was just unknown whether being on the verge of bursting from the energy could trigger ’Speech Spirit Nine Lives’.
