Chapter 157: Chapter 156: Why Are You So Hot?
“Sir, here are your har gow, chicken feet in black bean sauce, char siu bao, pork tripe, and rice noodle rolls…”
Several waiters gradually brought over a dozen breakfast dishes. Although the portions were small, the quantity was quite impressive, and the colors were vivid. Even Shao Zifeng, who wasn’t much of a breakfast person, found his appetite piqued.
After the waiters had finished serving the food, the lead waiter, with a white napkin draped over his bent forearm, bowed slightly to Shao Zifeng, “I wish you a pleasant al.”
This display left Shao Zifeng sowhat dazed, as what was ant to be a simple Cantonese morning tea sohow gave off the vibe of a Western restaurant.
“Ah, please wait a mont.”
As the waiters began to leave, Shao Zifeng called out to stop the last one.
...
The waiter rolled his eyes, turned around, and displayed a professional yet stiff smile, “May I ask if there is anything else you require, sir?”
Shao Zifeng looked at the waiter’s slightly trembling lips and couldn’t help but be amused, “I was wondering if your manager is in?”
The waiter, upon hearing that Shao Zifeng wanted to speak to the manager, beca instantly wary, “Sir, is there any unsatisfactory service on our part?”
“Not at all.”
“Then what do you need our manager for?” the waiter asked cautiously.
Shao Zifeng raised an eyebrow at the question, wondering why asking for the manager would make one so nervous and considering whether it was so difficult to feel the chill in the air without recognizing they were almost freezing to death.
Seeing that Shao Zifeng didn’t respond, the waiter looked around stealthily and whispered, “You aren’t here to make a complaint, are you, sir?”

“I’m not…”
“Then what do you want our manager for?” the waiter said, smiling professionally again upon hearing Shao Zifeng wasn’t there to complain.
Shao Zifeng: …
Looking at the rather obtuse waiter, Shao Zifeng’s mouth twitched a few tis before he said, “Alright, I do want to file a complaint.”
The waiter’s attitude ward up considerably upon hearing this, and bending slightly forward, he whispered, “Exactly, sir, I also feel that so people’s service attitude here is indeed problematic. Like our supervisor, his na is Zuo Xiaokun. He’s always been too arrogant with custors, and he’s also particularly petty… yada yada yada.”
“I am different though, I am warm and friendly, always smile while serving, and I treat my work as life itself… be sure to give five stars later, okay?”
Shao Zifeng, with a rigid expression, watched the waiter who wouldn’t stop talking, and he wished he could slap himself for having stopped such a chatterbox. He interrupted promptly, “May I speak with your manager now, please?”
“Okay-dokay.”
Li Yiming had just changed clothes and co out of the restroom when he saw the waiter, briskly walking away from Shao Zifeng’s side. He looked curious but didn’t ask any questions.
“Big brother Shao.”
“Oh… you’re out.”
Shao Zifeng stuffed a har gow into his mouth and wiped his mouth with a napkin.
When he looked up, he saw Li Yiming wearing his mid-length black down jacket, and underneath was the white turtleneck sweater knitted by Shao’s mother. The entire look made him appear much more sunny.
If he could have his hair cut a bit shorter and change his glasses, he might actually pass for a pretty handso guy.
Well… the ordinary kind of handso that isn’t quite as striking as himself.
Speaking of which, there was quite a difference in the two’s aura. Shao Zifeng himself had good fundantals but never used to care much for his appearance, and his reclusive nature ant his handsoness wasn’t that apparent.
This past half-year, after going through various events, his mindset had changed significantly, he had developed a habit of exercising, and his clothes were all managed by He Juan, resulting in a transformative change in his aura.
Looking closely, Li Yiming’s features are sowhat soft and delicate, and his fra is rather thin and frail. Um… to use internet slang, he’d be considered a ‘sissy,’ and in the eyes of fujoshi, definitely a ‘uke.’
Of course, Shao Zifeng’s assistance had absolutely nothing to do with coveting his beauty. Although he was without a girlfriend, his sexual orientation was certainly not an issue.
If we really got down to it, sotis he didn’t even know why he always felt the need to lend Li Yiming a hand. Perhaps it was because they shared similar traits in their personalities, or maybe it was because Li Yiming still managed to tip him off under the coercion of others, or perhaps because Li Yiming had taken the bla for him before.
In truth, Shao Zifeng found this ticulous and self-conscious way of interaction quite exhausting, cautiously trying not to hurt the other’s pride. Compared to that, he preferred hanging out with straightforward people like Chen Zhenglong and Yang Qian.
As for Bald Qiang…forget about him. That guy was rather petty and definitely soone who needed to be handled with care.
Feeling increasingly awkward under Shao Zifeng’s scrutinizing gaze, Li Yiming grew more self-conscious. He swallowed, feeling a bit hot, perhaps due to his warm down jacket making his palms break out in a slight sweat.
“Let’s sit down and eat,” said Shao Zifeng, noticing Li Yiming’s sowhat over-the-top reaction and quickly inviting him to sit. “I’ve already eaten, but you should try it. The breakfast here isn’t bad at all.”
“Thanks, Big Brother Shao,” Li Yiming mumbled with his head down, picked up his chopsticks, hesitated for a mont, and then picked up a piece of char siu.
Watching him eat his al all awkwardly, sticking only to the char siu next to him, Shao Zifeng helped him pick so other dishes and thought for a mont before saying, “Right, how’s the training for your rooster’s new trick going? I’ve seen it working hard. Has it mastered it yet?”
“Ah.” Li Yiming, who was looking down at his food, was startled before quickly responding, “Not quite there yet; I’ve been training with it whenever I get ho recently.”
Indeed, as soon as pets were ntioned, Li Yiming no longer seed as tense and found sothing to talk about. Shao Zifeng finally let out a sigh of relief and began to chat with him about other things.
“Manager, this is the custor who wanted to make a complaint.”
Just then, the waiter ca over with a middle-aged man of hefty build, who seed to have just finished exercising, judging by the fine beads of sweat on his forehead.
“Dear custor, um, I hope the experience, uh, brought to you has been satisfactory,” the chubby middle-aged man in a suit said, wiping the sweat from his forehead and, despite the cold environnt, shuddered unconsciously.
Ssheesh, this Cantonese… it’s got the flavor, indeed.
But he spoke so fast that Shao Zifeng couldn’t understand at all.
Seeing soone approaching, Li Yiming stopped talking and kept his head down, slowly eating his breakfast.
Realizing Shao Zifeng’s confusion, the middle-aged man rembered that they weren’t in Guangcheng and hurriedly explained, “I’m sorry, custor. Is there anything you’re unsatisfied with?”
“Oh, no, it’s nothing like that. I just wanted to inquire about the heating,” replied Shao Zifeng.
Upon hearing this, the middle-aged man turned and glared fiercely at the waiter.
The waiter opened his mouth, looking at Shao Zifeng with an expression of wronged innocence.
It turns out you can’t trust what a pretty man says.
Lucky for , I’m ugly.
Thinking this, the waiter unexpectedly felt quite content.
“Dear custor, um, the heating system broke down sohow, bringing you a less-than-satisfactory dining experience,” the chubby man said, full of apologies.
Shao Zifeng, skeptical, glanced at the un-wiped sweat beads on the chubby man’s forehead, then why do you look so hot?
The chubby man was taken aback for a mont and laughed nervously, “I’m just sensitive to the cold; the office has its own air conditioning, haha…”
Shao Zifeng: …
