“Huff, huff.”
With each heavy swing of the baseball bat, brains splattered, and ng Xu’s ears were filled with the satisfying sound of the task completion notification.
He had successfully earned the task rewards, making him very happy indeed.
Hearing the roars and screeches echoing from the surrounding buildings, along with the sounds of shuffling feet, ng Xu knew he couldn’t stay there long. He imdiately hopped onto his cherished shared bike and rode toward the Citizen Service Center.
“Roar!”
As soon as ng Xu pedaled away, nurous zombies surged out from the buildings on either side. They scanned the area, locked eyes on ng Xu, and began roaring before hysterically chasing after him with reckless abandon.
More zombies joined the chase along the way, creating a spectacular scene when viewed from a distance.
A whole horde of forty or fifty zombies were chasing a single bicycle.
anwhile, ng Xu, riding the bike, was leisurely whistling and occasionally looking back to cheer on his pursuers: “Co on! Keep it up! Strive! Work hard!”
“If you don’t work hard today, you won’t be able to tomorrow!”
“Zombie friends, think about how important the skill of running is! If you’re slow while eating people, you won’t get to eat at all. Only by improving your physical abilities can you have a brighter future!”
“A zombie that doesn’t progress will always remain a zombie! A progressing zombie, on the other hand, has a beautiful tomorrow! Keep going!”
“…”
Since he had so ti to kill, ng Xu reflected on how to be a good chairman while riding and shouting motivational speeches at the zombies.
Workplace leaders seem to do this sort of thing.
Naturally, ng Xu’s behavior caused quite a commotion along the street.
Countless zombies kept erging and forming what could only be described as a… zombie tide!
This showcased the stark difference between the city center and the outskirts. In the outskirts, gathering so many zombies was difficult.
But in the city center, it was entirely possible.
anwhile, as ng Xu’s antics unfolded, a three-person team crouched silently beside a street garbage bin, barely daring to breathe, holding their breath as the zombie horde passed by.
They were utterly bewildered, unable to grasp the situation.
One chubby guy, speechless with shock, said, “What’s going on? Is that guy insane? Even if you gave a gun, I couldn’t take out so many zombies!”
“I reckon only a tank would be useful here… But thanks to him for drawing them away. Rember to thank that guy. If he dies, we’ll put up a monunt for him when we get back,” another guy took a deep breath and quickly commanded the group. The three imdiately moved, crouching and trembling as they navigated the street.
The scenes with the three survivors were in stark contrast to ng Xu’s fearless deanor.
ng Xu didn’t pay much attention to the surrounding reactions. After all, ever since he took on that task, a series of subsequent events were bound to unfold. He was quite familiar with this area and was confident he could easily shake off the following zombies.
To ng Xu, none of them were truly a threat!
Occasionally, so survivors peered out of the buildings on both sides, astonished at the sight before them. Whenever ng Xu spotted survivors, he would greet them warmly: “Good morning! Have you eaten?”
However, ng Xu’s enthusiasm was t with cold responses, like people pulling their curtains shut, leaving him feeling sowhat disappointed.
“Can’t we have a bit more trust between people?”
ng Xu sighed deeply. Hearing the screams from behind, it seed so survivors had tried to escape, only to run into zombies… ng Xu mourned for them.
Nonetheless, when he saw the wall up ahead, he swiftly drifted to a stop, evaluated the shared bike, and then used his strength and agility to jump over the wall in an instant.
Once over the wall, ng Xu held his baseball bat and quickly moved toward the Citizen Service Center.
After ng Xu jumped, the zombies crowded against the wall. Unfortunately, their limited intelligence hindered them. They stared blankly at the wall and groped forward, eventually clambering over each other, allowing a few to make it over.
But by the ti they got across, ng Xu was long gone, and they lost sight of their target, reverting to wandering aimlessly.
What a bunch of dummies.
ng Xu sneered. If his company were staffed with such employees, it would be impossible not to go bankrupt!
Wait.
ng Xu suddenly realized a crucial point.
Everyone knows that zombies usually don’t refuse commands.
So, instead of killing zombies when encountered, why not recruit them?
Money talks.
If he could turn zombies into employees, wouldn’t that be great?
Make money—convert zombies into employees—zombies clear the way—make more money.
A perfect cycle!
Satisfied with this plan, ng Xu carefully crouched and made his way through a narrow alley. Ahead, he saw a market area.
Scanning his surroundings, ng Xu spotted a lone zombie and decided to test his theory.
Slowly approaching, ng Xu gazed at the zombie, took a deep breath, and, sure enough, saw the panel he wanted to see in front of him.
【Talent ‘Liu Xiaojun’ detected. The system senses a strong desire from the host to recruit. Proceed with recruitnt? Based on the system’s calculations, recruiting Liu Xiaojun will require a minimum monthly salary of ten thousand yuan.】
【Current job detected: Liu Xiaojun is the owner of Xiaojun Supermarket. His inco is fluctuating and uncertain. The system calculates a low recruitnt success rate. To increase the success rate, consider offering a higher monthly salary.】
ng Xu felt a wave of frustration as he read this.
His remaining balance in the system was only 324,000 yuan. After setting aside 85,000 yuan for the next month’s salaries, he had only 239,000 yuan left, enough to recruit just 24 ordinary zombie employees.
What a loss.
However, seeing a small store called Xiaojun Supermarket nearby, ng Xu decided to proceed with the recruitnt: “Liu Xiaojun, join my team. I believe you have great potential. Running a small shop here is beneath you. If you co over, I’ll make you an employee in our sales departnt!”
No way he could make him a manager, though.
【No rejection detected from Liu Xiaojun. You have successfully recruited a new employee!】
Seeing these words, ng Xu was delighted. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a pack of cigarettes: “Excellent, excellent. Have a cigarette!”
No need to worry about the supply of cigarettes; he’d grab a few packs from this new employee’s shop later.
Taking sothing from an employee’s ho, is that theft? No, it’s fostering interpersonal relationships. For all he knew, Liu Xiaojun might be on the next promotion list!
However, what ng Xu didn’t expect was that the mont he finished speaking, Liu Xiaojun’s gray eyes rolled back, and he lunged at ng Xu!
“Roar!”
ng Xu: ?
Didn’t I just recruit you as an employee, and you dare to attack your boss?!
