After the rain, the sky cleared, and as the sun rose, it was quite hot.
Landon Sutton was worried about Shannon Quinn’s health and couldn’t help but interrupt her endless talking, suggesting they head back.
He took her back ho, and it was almost lunchti; Joel Bellamy was undoubtedly looking for him.
So after sending Shannon Quinn back, Landon Sutton returned to the lighthouse.
Joel Bellamy was sitting by the beach, holding a small twig and scribbling sothing on the sand.
She glanced back at Landon Sutton, ignoring him, and then lowered her head again, pressing the stick harder into the sand.
Landon Sutton walked behind her, stopped, and asked, "What are you doing here?"
Joel Bellamy snuffled, looked up at him with a voice of grievance tinged with tears, "Did you go to see her?"
Landon Sutton saw Joel Bellamy’s red eyes and didn’t lie to her, nodding, "Yes."
Joel Bellamy stood up, brushed the sand from her pants, and asked him, "Do you think she’s prettier than , is that why you’ve fallen for her?"
Landon Sutton took a deep breath, turned slightly, facing the sea, his gaze falling on the water, saying, "She told a lot about the past, showed many old photos. She said we have a six-year-old son, and she’s six months pregnant."
Joel Bellamy questioned him, "Do you believe her or ?"
Landon Sutton lowered his eyes, "I don’t believe either of you."
Joel Bellamy seed annoyed, "I’ve told you before, she’s been thinking about you, just wants to break us apart. Her six-year-old son was with her late husband, and who knows with whom she ssed around to get the child in her belly. Those n were just attracted by her looks and got lured, and now it seems she’s bewitched you too."
Landon Sutton was silent for a while and then said, "But I don’t think she’s lying."
Joel Bellamy retorted, "So you an I’m the one lying?"
Seeing Landon Sutton again fall silent, Joel Bellamy angrily took off the bracelet in her hand and threw it at his feet, "Then go find her! I’m done with you!"
Joel Bellamy ran off crying, and Landon Sutton looked down at the bracelet on the ground, bent over to pick it up, and sighed.
Joel Bellamy locked herself in a room, and Landon Sutton stood at the door for a while, not knocking or disturbing her, then turned to go to the kitchen.
Though he was preparing lunch for Joel Bellamy, he was worried about whether Shannon Quinn was eating well.
Having tasted today’s breakfast, it seed there was no one cooking over there.
After preparing the food, he knocked on Joel Bellamy’s room door, but no one answered.
Hesitating, he pushed open the wooden door, seeing Joel Bellamy lying on her bed with her back to him, wiping her tears with her hand when she saw him.
Landon Sutton frowned and said to her, "Lunch is ready."
Joel Bellamy turned her head to glance at him, her eyes red and swollen.
This was Landon Sutton’s first ti cooking; she didn’t know he could cook.
Seeing her sulkily but still getting up from the bed, Landon Sutton breathed a sigh of relief.
He didn’t know how to comfort Joel Bellamy.
He didn’t know how he used to treat Joel Bellamy, but now he couldn’t see her as a lover.
For him, with his mory loss, he didn’t want to hurt either Shannon Quinn or Joel Bellamy. He treated Joel Bellamy as family, but with Shannon Quinn, there was an inexplicable emotion stirring his mind, as if they had a deep connection before.
But one of them must be deceiving him.
"Brother..." During the al, Joel Bellamy, who had been silent, finally spoke.
Landon Sutton looked up at her, and Joel Bellamy, who had looked so upset before, now smiled at him and said, "Your cooking is really delicious."
Landon Sutton paused and asked, "I’ve never cooked before?"
Joel Bellamy thought for a mont and said, "You have, it’s just been a long ti since I’ve had it."
Landon Sutton pulled up the corner of his mouth, "Eat more."
Joel Bellamy pouted, "I feel like your concern now has no warmth."
Landon Sutton, "What do you an?"
Joel Bellamy, "I feel that your mind isn’t on at all, you’re always distracted."
Landon Sutton didn’t say anything.
Joel Bellamy pressed on, "Are you thinking about that woman?"
Landon Sutton didn’t answer, put down his chopsticks, and seriously looked at Joel Bellamy, "Tell the truth."
Joel Bellamy’s gaze flickered for a mont, then she confidently stated, "Brother, I didn’t lie to you. Your parents were good friends with mine, and after the accident with uncle and aunt over a decade ago, you’ve been living with us. I have no reason to lie to you."
Landon Sutton nodded thoughtfully, reached into his pocket, took out the bracelet Joel Bellamy had thrown on the beach, and handed it back to her.
Joel Bellamy reached out to take it, putting it back on her wrist while saying, "Please don’t see her again, okay?"
Landon Sutton hesitated, not answering.
Joel Bellamy looked pitifully at Landon Sutton, "Okay?"
Landon Sutton nodded, sowhat perfunctory.
Now he could clearly sense the difference between Joel Bellamy and Shannon Quinn. Joel Bellamy was eager for him to believe everything she said was true, while Shannon Quinn was willing to give him enough ti to make his judgnt.
Of course, this might just be a result of personality, but now Landon Sutton preferred Shannon Quinn’s rationality.
The next day, it rained continuously through the night. Shannon Quinn still awoke early, standing at the front of the second-floor corridor, looking towards the direction where that familiar figure was no longer present.
Perhaps because it was still raining, it might co later than yesterday.
Shannon Quinn took a book and sat on a chair by the corridor, listening to the sound of drizzle, reading quietly.
Enthralled by the book’s content, ti flew by unknowingly until she heard Ronan Rhodes and the others getting up downstairs. Then she went to check the ti, realizing it was already ten in the morning.
It was past the ti they had agreed upon yesterday.
Maybe it was because of the rain to bla, so he didn’t show up?
"Sister-in-law!" Ronan Rhodes called from downstairs.
Shannon Quinn put down her book, got up, and stood by the railing.
Ronan Rhodes, "Master Nate didn’t co?"
Shannon Quinn shook her head, "He didn’t co due to the rain."
Ronan Rhodes imdiately started complaining, "This little rain is nothing, I bet Master Nate is probably enjoying himself with that girl!"
Ronan Rhodes spouted these words without bothering to watch Shannon Quinn’s face: "Sister-in-law, I’m telling you, you spoil Master Nate too much. Now that he rembers nothing, it’s the easiest ti to deceive him, yet you let him live with that girl. A man can stay true to you when he loves you, but now Master Nate doesn’t even rember you. Whether he can resist those won’s temptations like before is hard to say."
"Even though that girl is dark-skinned and looks plain, she’s still a woman after all."
Shannon Quinn glared at Ronan Rhodes and fiercely said, "I shouldn’t have thrown away those buns yesterday, should have shoved them into your mouth to shut you up!"
Ronan Rhodes pleaded his innocence, "No, sister-in-law, I’m analyzing strategies with you. I know you trust Master Nate, but he’s not the sa as he was before. In my opinion, we should just tie him up and take him back. I don’t even want to stay in this damn place for another day."
