"I’m picking up my sister at the airport, you head back first."
"Then I’ll go straight to Shannon’s place and wait for you!"
"There’s no one ho right now, why go over?"
"It’s fine, I’ll wait for you guys to co back. Just focus on driving, I’m hanging up."
Shannon Quinn didn’t check the caller ID, but she knew it was Iris by the voice.
After hanging up, she teased Julian Yardley, "Is Iris staying at your place again these days?"
It wasn’t anything new, Julian didn’t hide it and nodded, "Yeah, her sister’s busy lately, can’t look after her."
Catherine Yardley, sitting in the passenger seat, said, "Now I don’t have to worry about both of you, it’s just Elaine left."
"Don’t worry about Elaine either, I heard several guys at the company are chasing her."
Catherine responded without thinking, "What’s the use of being chased? You had plenty of guys after you back then."
Landon Sutton couldn’t help but ask, "How many guys were chasing you?"
Shannon Quinn said proudly, "A lot."
"Looks like I’ll have to visit your company tomorrow to check it out."
Leo seed to understand the topic and turned to Landon seriously, "Dad, I won’t sell Mom’s WeChat to those uncles anymore."
"So now just scamming your old man is enough for you, huh?"
"No need to scam, son, just tell Dad if you need money."
Shannon Quinn glared at the father and son duo, feeling a bit left out.
When they reached the house, they saw Iris sitting against the wall in her school uniform, holding a small book, morizing English words.
"Iris!" Leo called out happily.
Iris looked up, saw them return, and smiled but didn’t get a chance to speak before Julian scolded her, "How many tis have I told you not to sit on the ground?"
"Just because it’s tiring to stand." Iris muttered defensively as she got up and patted her pants.
"What’s your sister busy with these days? Haven’t seen her in a while." Shannon asked while opening the door.
"I have no idea myself, haven’t seen her for days, maybe she’s at another branch." Iris said, looking up at Landon holding Leo, and smiled at Shannon, "Shannon, is this your brother-in-law?"
Shannon smiled and nodded, "Yes."
"I wish my sister could find a brother-in-law as handso as him."
"Next ti your sister’s back, I’ll introduce her to soone."
"Sure, she’s just been put off by that jerk, but I believe there are still many good n out there, like our Ms. Yardley!"
Julian rolled his eyes, "Don’t think flattering will get you out of doing exercises."
"I’m telling the truth, not flattering!"
Julian had matured a bit after becoming a teacher, not as carefree as before.
Though he often seed harsh and dismissive toward Iris, everyone knew he cared about her deeply.
Though he only taught computers at school, he was a versatile tutor for Iris alone, spending significant ti revisiting subjects he learned in school to better assist her in her studies.
Shannon Quinn envied Iris, wondering why she never t such a good teacher during her own studies.
At dinner, Shannon showed Susan Wilde a video. Though Susan appeared cheerful in it, Shannon felt sothing was amiss, finding it inconvenient to inquire during the call.
Later that night, Shannon privately ssaged Susan, who rely replied that it was nothing, just busy with work recently, not expecting to return soon, and asked Shannon to take care of her sister.
Susan Wilde hasn’t told anyone about her upcoming marriage next week, feeling it isn’t really a celebratory occasion.
She didn’t inform any friends either, as the wedding date approached, it was all she could think about.
She still hadn’t t the man she was set to marry yet.
As a wedding planner, she t with many newlyweds, hearing a plethora of love stories.
So experiences were similar to hers, though the processes might be slightly different, the endings varied greatly.
She often wondered if Owen Bellamy hadn’t betrayed her, maybe she wouldn’t be facing all this.
With a husband she knew nothing about and a profit-driven marriage, she couldn’t foresee any happiness.
Wayne Wilde frequently called her out of apparent concern, though she knew it was more about ensuring she wouldn’t back out and ruin their plans.
The two families decided on a wedding, acknowledging that their alliance was ant to bring both families cooperative benefits, so naturally, it wouldn’t be a secretive affair.
Susan chose to avoid pondering the future, and took so ti to herself to pick out a wedding dress she liked at a bridal shop.
No matter what the other party was like, she wished to look her best on her wedding day, as it might be her only ti.
Not marrying soone she loved, but at least wearing a dress she liked, sowhat reduced her regrets.
A week wasn’t long. Shannon Quinn and Landon Sutton, as planned, returned to the Rhodes Family with Leo.
Even though Landon had explained during the car ride, though Leo was initially excited, he beca hesitant and reserved upon facing the unfamiliar environnt and people.
Upon arriving at the Rhodes Family, Leo clung to Landon, standing by his side, eyes wide as he took in his surroundings, much quieter than usual and seeming shy.
Shane Royale had been eagerly awaiting their arrival but didn’t show his anticipation when they t, maintaining a stern deanor.
Landon picked up Leo, instructing, "Quick, call him great-grandfather."
Leo looked at Shane Royale’s stern face and, usually sweet, he hid behind Landon’s leg.
Landon turned to Shane and said, "Grandfather, your stern face is scaring the child."
Shane, unable to soften up to humor, gave a light "hmmph" and turned to walk inside.
Shannon didn’t expect Leo to be so shy, so she coaxed, "Great-grandfather got you lots of toys, go ask him for so."
In a small voice, Leo said, "I’m scared, he looks so fierce."
Though Shane’s hearing was fine and he overheard the child’s muttering, he didn’t budge, heading straight to sit on the couch.
Landon lifted Leo and led him to where Shane had placed the toys, "Pick one, and I’ll play with you."
Leo surveyed the variety of toys and, without greed, ekly pointed to a remote-controlled airplane, saying shyly, "This one."
Landon reached for the toy box, took it down, and carried Leo to the open space in the backyard.
