Vincent Rhodes naturally appeared in the identity of Landon Sutton. Even if he wanted to be low-key, the na "Landon Sutton" wouldn’t allow it.
His arrival caused quite a stir. Upon hearing that na, Shannon Quinn felt as if a long-strained chord within her was suddenly plucked, tensing her up involuntarily.
Landon Sutton ca with Ronan Rhodes and did not bring a female companion. Upon entering, his gaze quickly locked onto Shannon Quinn in her white long dress—elegant and charming. Among the many brightly dressed won, she had her unique aura.
The mont their eyes t, it lasted less than two seconds before Shannon Quinn shifted her gaze, lowering her head to look at the brochure in her hands, continuing to converse with the staff beside her.
Landon Sutton did not step forward to disturb her either, instead walked away from not far behind her.
Shannon Quinn glanced slightly from the corner of her eye at the direction where Landon Sutton left, her thoughts imdiately stirred by him.
"What’s up, Shannon? Why are you standing there dazed? Co over here and help find where the accessories for this outfit are placed."
"Okay, I’m coming."
Busy back and forth, she didn’t see him again.
She took out her phone to check the ti; it was already past ten at night. Shannon Quinn didn’t know if he had already left.
She was worried about Leo, unsure if he was already asleep.
Shannon Quinn found a quiet corner, standing by the window at the end of the hallway, and called Catherine Yardley.
"Is the child asleep?"
"Not yet, he said he wanted to wait for mommy to co back. What ti will you be back?"
"I should be back soon. Is Leo beside you? Turn on the speakerphone."
Leo’s vocabulary wasn’t much; it was mostly Catherine Yardley prompting him to speak. However, the child was articulating more clearly, saying whatever he was told to say.
Listening to the child’s voice made Shannon Quinn feel much at ease.
Focused only on Leo’s voice, she didn’t notice the footsteps approaching ever closer from behind.
Landon Sutton hugged Shannon Quinn from behind, almost causing her phone to slip from her hands. Her initial reaction was to think it was a pervert, instinctively wanting to push away, but the force holding her tightened: "Don’t move."
The tone was commanding, but the voice was gentle.
She was very familiar with this voice.
The tension from fear slowly loosened up, and Shannon Quinn’s mind went blank at that mont.
The call hadn’t been ended, and suddenly realizing sothing, Shannon Quinn hurriedly hung up the phone.
After a mont of internal confusion, she regained her composure, turned around, and pushed Landon Sutton away with her hand.
The calmness on the surface perfectly concealed her accelerated heartbeat. Looking at the man in front of her, he seed even thinner than the last ti they t, with a shallow scar now scabbed at the corner of his eye, unsure of how he got injured.
"I’m sorry."
Caught off guard by his sudden apology, Shannon Quinn was montarily unresponsive, opening her mouth but unable to utter a word.
"I originally didn’t want to disturb you, but couldn’t help myself after seeing you."
Understanding the intention behind his apology, Shannon Quinn couldn’t figure out what she felt inside.
It seed she sowhat sympathized with the situation of both of them; neither was doing particularly well.
She reached out and pushed him away a little more, to the furthest distance her arm could stretch, speaking with a very rational tone: "Then please, Mr. Sutton, mind the boundaries here. There are many people around, and I don’t want rumors of as a divorced wife seducing you to spread after our separation."
"If there’s any seduction, it would be seducing you." His teasing carried a hint of bitterness, as if trying to rekindle old feelings, yet seeming unable to turn back ti.
"Others won’t think that way."
"Were you just on the phone with the child?"
"Mm."
"He’s over one year old now, right?" Landon Sutton spoke as if talking to himself, "Ti really flies."
"Shannon, why did you run over here? I was looking for you everywhere." Liam Sterling ca over, and seeing the person in front of Shannon Quinn was Landon Sutton, he showed a hint of surprise: "Mr. Sutton, you’re here too? You two know each other?"
Afraid that Landon Sutton might say sothing inappropriate, Shannon Quinn quickly answered, "When I worked at Mr. Lockwood’s studio previously, Mr. Sutton placed an order, so we’re kind of client and service."
"Oh, I see. Shannon, you’re truly exceptional, even Mr. Sutton ca looking for you."
Landon Sutton maintained a polite smile on the surface but felt very uncomfortable with Liam Sterling calling her "Shannon" back and forth.
"What did you want to see about?"
"Oh, it’s nothing important, just couldn’t find you for half a day and wanted to ask when you’re going back."
"I was also planning to head back, just got a call from ho urging ."
"Alright then, I’ll give so instructions. You wait for at the parking lot."
"Sure."
"Mr. Sutton, apologies for not accompanying you further today."
Landon Sutton nodded, feeling sowhat uncomfortable seeing the seemingly good rapport between Liam Sterling and Shannon Quinn.
Though he agreed to her remarrying, and post-divorce, it’s her right whether she remarries or not, seeing her getting close to another man, he seed unable to handle it gracefully with blessings.
Especially thinking about his child having to call another man dad.
"I’ll drive you ho." After Liam Sterling left, Landon Sutton said.
Shannon Quinn didn’t even think before refusing: "No need, if there’s nothing else, I’ll be going first."
Landon Sutton hesitated but ultimately nodded, saying: "Alright."
Shannon Quinn glanced at him again, said nothing, and turned to walk away.
Landon Sutton watched her leaving figure, and after only two steps, he said to her: "Three more years, once everything ends, I can co back."
Those champagne-colored high heels paused briefly on the ground, not even two seconds, before she continued walking without looking back.
Watching her figure disappear around the corner, Landon Sutton took a deep breath, taking out a cigarette from the pack and lighting it, skillfully inhaling and exhaling the smoke.
"Did you et?" Simon Rhodes walked over and asked.
Landon Sutton nodded: "Yeah."
"The doctor told you to smoke less, didn’t he?"
Landon Sutton instead asked back without answering: "What’s the background of that Liam Sterling?"
"Why?"
"Is he and Shannon just work-related?"
Simon Rhodes then understood, thought for a mont, and replied, "Hard to say. Shannon is beautiful and capable, even though she’s divorced and has a child, there wouldn’t be a shortage of people pursuing her."
"I regret the divorce."
"Given the situation at the ti, what else could you do without divorcing? Were you willing to watch Shannon remain in constant low spirits? Besides, not divorcing then would Shannon have given birth to the child?"
Vincent Rhodes drew a deep puff of his cigarette, muttering, "If she really marries soone else, what should I do?"
The feeling of losing her would probably be a hundred tis more painful than the sensation of a bullet piercing the chest.
In the remaining three years, will she wait for him?
When they et next ti, will she gracefully introduce her husband to him while his role remains just a client?
