The sound was sowhat unfamiliar to her because no guests ever ca to the house, so the doorbell was almost just decoration.
Thinking it was a staff mber from property managent, she yawned and got up to open the door. Out of caution, she first activated the cara display outside the door and saw Landon Sutton standing there impeccably dressed in a suit.
She stood by the door, not daring to open it, yet the doorbell kept ringing.
The fact that he waited at the store for an entire morning showed his patience, a patience Shannon Quinn felt she couldn’t outlast.
"Why are you here?" she shouted through the door.
The doorbell stopped ringing, and his voice sounded: "Open the door."
"I won’t. Leave now, or else I’ll call security," she replied.
"Do you think I’m going to eat you?"
"Yes!"
There was silence outside the door for a mont, and it was quiet inside as well. After a while, he seed to have no other options and said, "I’ve left sothing at the door, co out and take it."
After he finished speaking, Shannon Quinn watched him turn and leave through the display screen.
She stood at the door for several minutes, confirming he hadn’t returned, and only then did Shannon open the door. She saw a paper bag placed by the door, and based on the markings, it was from the breakfast shop she often visited.
She bent down and picked up the bag, hurriedly locking the door again.
This breakfast delivery trick was the typical move boys used when pursuing girls in school, wasn’t it?
It wouldn’t work on her, especially not when it ca from Landon Sutton.
Who knows if he had put sothing in it?
What if she ended up poisoned at ho with no one knowing?
She opened the bag to check inside; it was her usual favorite combo al, with yogurt, an egg tart, and a serving of honey fernted tofu.
It looked tempting, but after being fooled once, she wouldn’t randomly eat soone else’s food again.
She stared at it for a few monts, nicely packed, yet she didn’t dare eat it; throwing it away felt wasteful.
Ultimately, she tossed the al into the trash can in the hallway when she left the apartnt.
On her way downstairs, she kept looking around, feeling as if Landon Sutton might be watching her from an unseen corner, waiting to appear in front of her at any mont.
Shannon Quinn felt if this continued, she might develop a psychological disorder.
Early in the morning at the store, she saw a few people gathered at the front desk gossiping, and when they saw her, all eyes fell on her.
Shannon Quinn felt uneasy under their stare; she glanced down at her clothes, making sure there was nothing strange.
Then Yara Hughes pulled her over. "Shannon, you said Landon Sutton wasn’t chasing you, yet he sent flowers to the store."
Looking at the huge bunch of vibrant red roses, Shannon Quinn was sowhat bewildered. What on earth was Landon Sutton doing?!
"There’s a card here too. Take a look at what’s written on it."
Shannon Quinn reached out and opened it in front of everyone. It didn’t have any special words, rely so well-wishing floral language. Judging by the handwriting, it seed like a girl’s hand, probably written by the florist.
"If a man sent such a big bouquet of roses, I’d marry him without hesitation!"
"Shannon, what trick did you use to have Landon Sutton persistently pursuing you? Teach us your ways?"
"Yeah, Shannon. If you marry into a wealthy family, don’t forget about us."
"What’s going on? Why so lively?" Aidan Lockwood walked into the store, and the chattering group imdiately quieted down, greeting in unison, "Hi, boss!"
"What’s up? Why is everyone gathered here?"
One colleague laughed and said, "Seems like the studio has so good news."
The huge bouquet, with such striking colors, Aidan Lockwood noticed imdiately and turned his gaze to Shannon Quinn, apparently having understood sothing.
Shannon Quinn wrinkled her brow, not playing along with their teasing, and turned to head upstairs.
She walked into her studio, took out her phone, found Landon Sutton’s number, and dialed.
"This is rare, you actually called first."
"Landon Sutton, what do you an by this? What are you trying to do?!"
"Why the anger early in the morning? Didn’t like breakfast? Or don’t like the flowers? If not, I’ll change them tomorrow, lilies? Roses? Or switch them daily?"
"Are you annoying? I beg you, stop disrupting my life, will you?!"
"I haven’t forced you to accept , right? Can’t I just like you?"
"Do you really like or just enjoy teasing ?! I only want a simple life and a peaceful work environnt. Can you please stop appearing in front of ? I beg you, just leave alone, will you?"
