Shannon Quinn was in a daze for a mont after hearing the bathroom door close, then carefully lifted the tie in front of her.
She looked at the light filtering through the glass door of the bathroom, and the sound of rushing water was in her ears.
She glanced around the room and noticed that his crutches were still leaning against the wall by the bed.
Could it be that he has recovered so quickly? He was in a wheelchair before, and now he can manage to walk without crutches?
Shannon was increasingly unable to understand him.
She ca today with the intention of discussing divorce, but Vincent Rhodes’ words made her reconsider.
If possible, she really had thought about living with him for the rest of her life.
Vincent Rhodes ca out of the bathroom, now dressed in a robe, with a mask still on his face.
When he opened the bathroom door and walked out, he deliberately leaned against the wall as he reached the bed.
Shannon looked at his feet and asked, "Have you recovered this quickly?"
Vincent seed to have his answer ready and said, "I tried to walk a little, but I can’t do it for long."
"How long until it fully heals?"
"Hard to say."
Shannon thought that his ability to recover to this extent was already pretty good.
"Treatnt isn’t sothing shaful, why are you hiding it from ?"
"It’s boring and tedious, don’t be curious, just wait for to co back. Rember always, I want more than anyone to be by your side, it’s late, let’s sleep."
Shannon moved closer to the edge of the bed, her back to him. She clearly understood that he didn’t want to talk about it, and even if she asked, he wouldn’t answer. She thought to herself that when he was ready, he’d tell her.
Vincent drew the curtains and turned off the room lights, plunging them into darkness.
Rustling, he got into bed, lying down next to her.
In the darkness, the silence was so profound that they could hear each other’s breathing, neither spoke, but both knew the other was still awake.
"Will you leave while I’m asleep again?"
In the dark, Vincent opened his eyes and softly said, "Hm, I have sothing early in the morning, you sleep more."
"Could you... stay with for two days?"
She wanted to try living with just the two of them, to forget the outside world and simply feel the present.
But he didn’t give her such an opportunity.
"I have things to do tomorrow, I’ll co find you next ti I have ti."
Shannon glanced down in disappointnt and asked, "When will ’next ti’ be?"
Vincent couldn’t give her an accurate answer and simply replied with two words, "As soon as possible."
Shannon felt a lump in her throat; she wanted to say sothing but couldn’t.
She told herself not to think too much into the future, to take it one step at a ti.
"Tomorrow, sleep until you wake naturally. Mr. Miller at the shop will send you to the station, and I’ve already booked your train tickets and plane tickets, so you have plenty of ti to leave by noon."
Shannon didn’t respond, feeling a bit annoyed but not sure why since he had arranged everything so thoughtfully for her.
"Don’t forget to send a ssage when you get there, and if anything cos up in the anti, you can text . I can’t often check my phone, so I might not reply imdiately, but don’t overthink it."
Shannon still remained silent, just listening quietly as he spoke.
Sotis she felt he truly cared for her, but then at tis when she couldn’t reach him, she’d change her mind and think he didn’t care at all.
She couldn’t fathom his mind and was too tired to guess, since she couldn’t change anything anyway.
"Sleep now, it’s been a long day."
Whether it was because she was too exhausted today or because he was beside her, it was the best sleep she’d had in a while.
The next day, as expected, Vincent had already left.
While having breakfast downstairs, she casually asked around, and the guesthouse owner said he left around four in the morning. When asked if he knew Vincent, the owner just shook his head and said, "Mr. Rhodes has stayed here a few tis, I don’t really know what he does, aren’t you his friend? Why are you asking ?"
Shannon just smiled and stayed silent, but the owner added, "Most of the guests here are either backpackers or people from Dragonspire, there’s said to be a group."
"A group?"
"Yeah, there’s a group out in the western desert area. Sotis when it’s too late for them to go any further, they stay here."
Shannon thought, Vincent didn’t belong to either category, not just a traveler nor a soldier. After all, he had trouble even walking.
The only plausible explanation is that his recovery training is happening out here, perhaps to keep away from prying eyes, which is why he’s so far out.
Maybe he wants to cure himself fully before appearing in front of everyone again, to prove wrong those who spread rumors.
Without overthinking, after finishing breakfast, Shannon packed up her things, and the guesthouse arranged a vehicle to take her down the mountain.
It wasn’t until midday that she took in the scenery here, a stretch of white as far as the eye could see, no wonder so many backpackers venture to such a remote place.
The mysterious beauty made her want to explore.
If Vincent had the ti, she really wanted to stay here and explore with him.
But unfortunately, she didn’t know if she’d ever have the chance to return to this place again in her lifeti.
After a day of travel, Shannon returned ho and made up so stories to Erin Bishop, saying she’d been on a business trip the last two days.
That woman wasn’t very perceptive and was easily convinced.
On her way back, she picked up a package from downstairs, feeling sowhat anxious about deliveries now.
Erin started tearing open the package box and said, "It should be the kitchenware I ordered that arrived. I was afraid it would co while I was at work, so I left your number."
Shannon felt a bit guilty, worried that once opened, it might be sothing unsavory. Seeing Erin pull out a wooden spoon, Shannon sighed in relief and said, "Why are you buying these when you already have spoons at ho?"
"You don’t understand, wooden spoons are different. Food tastes better with a wooden spoon."
"Oh, barely learned to cook and now you’re teaching ?"
"Hehe, my technique may not be as skilled as yours yet, but my knowledge is more comprehensive. By the way, I also bought an oven, so we can make our own snacks at ho from now on."
While chatting, the elevator arrived.
The elevator ca up from the basent, and as the door opened, they saw Ronan Rhodes inside, talking anxiously on the phone. When he saw the two of them, Ronan’s eyes lit up, and he quickly said into the phone, "Okay, okay, Mom, I have to go now. I’ll call you back later."
The two entered the elevator, and Ronan bead at Erin Bishop, ingratiatingly saying, "Erin, could you do a favor?"
