anwhile, in the comfort of his cozy room, Asher sat on the bed with Anna. They had just finished a bath together, washing away the day’s sweat and the lingering haze of alcohol. Now he wore nothing but a boxer, his back resting against the wall and pillow, while Anna lay curled between his thighs, her head nestled lightly against his stomach and chest.
"So," Asher murmured, brushing his fingers through her damp hair, "what’s this surprise you’ve been keeping from all day?"
She giggled softly, her laughter as warm as the flicker of candlelight. "You’re far too curious, you know?" With a playful shift, she turned to look up at him, her eyes gleaming as if she held a secret too big to contain.
"I think I’m pregnant."
For a heartbeat there, Asher felt his soul leave his body, only to co rushing back in a shock that nearly knocked the breath from him. Still, he forced himself to remain calm, not reacting like so clueless boy hearing such news for the first ti.
"Are you certain?" he asked, steady but low.
Anna nodded, her smile soft yet nervous. "It started three days ago. The symptoms. And... Mom confird it, too. She says I might be pregnant."
Asher listened intently, letting her explain all the changes she had noticed in her body. His hands brushed her back as he thought like the man he once was—a doctor. The signs aligned too perfectly to ignore. She truly was pregnant.
But how? His skill, Divine Protection, was always active. It should have made such a thing impossible.
"When we tied our knots," Anna added, raising her right hand where a string of marriage bound her wrist. "Turns out the divine blessing we get from the goddess doesn’t just increase our libido and craving for each other—it also makes hyper-fertile during that period. So yeah... pregnancy was bound to happen."
At the ntion of divine blessing, Asher’s mind drifted back to when he was tasked with guarding Valerie by her twin sister, Veyna. That night, Anna had co to him overwheld with desire, and he had slept with her. The divine blessing he had stolen and turned into the skill Heavenly Pulse had clashed with the aphrodisiac effects on Anna. It caused his divine protection to glitch, making what should’ve been infertile seed, slightly fertile. And with Anna so hyper-fertile at the ti, it made sense she’d conceive.
Silence hung between them for a long mont.
Anna’s gaze softened with worry. "Ash... are you not happy that I’m pregnant?"
He frowned, eting her eyes directly. "Why wouldn’t I be? To know I’ll soon be a father... of course I’m happy."
Relief washed across her face. She smiled, though a little sheepishly. "I thought you’d jump up and down in excitent. But if you say you’re happy, then I’ll keep it."
He fell quiet again, lost in thought. Monts later, he leaned down, kissed her forehead, and whispered, "I guess I’m just shocked."
And shocked he truly was. In his previous life, he had never fathered a child. Back then, he had been infertile, and sotis he wondered if it was because of his small penis. But as a doctor, he knew size had nothing to do with it. He was just infertile. Maybe that was why his so-called wife back then had gotten fed up, praying every Sunday for a child that never ca, before finally letting the garden boy fuck her instead and get her pregnant.
But now... the woman he loved carried his child.
Anna wasn’t like the fifty-odd elves he had impregnated on missions; those won never truly mattered. Anna was different—special. She was soone he didn’t have to charm into loving him. She loved him with nothing but her heart.
A single tear slid down his cheek. Anna gasped softly. "Ash... are you alright?"
He pulled her close, hugging her tightly against his chest, his voice breaking as he whispered into her shoulder. "I’m happy... forgive for crying. These are tears of joy."
His trembling voice struck her heart like nothing else ever had. She held him tighter, her hands gently rubbing his back. "It’s okay, darling. Cry as much as you want."
His tears dampened her clothes, but she didn’t care. All she cared about was this mont, grateful to see this side of him for the first ti. It made her happy.
They stayed wrapped in each other’s arms, pulled the blanket over themselves, and eventually drifted off to sleep cuddled together.
The night seed to pass quickly. Morning arrived with soft rays of sunlight spilling into Asher’s room, bathing them in a golden glow.
Asher stirred first. He opened his eyes, glancing at Anna sleeping peacefully beside him. Her hair was a beautiful ss, and he smiled, thinking she looked even lovelier like this. He kissed her forehead.
"Morning, wifey," he whispered.
Her eyes fluttered open, groggy but warm. "Morning, hubby."
"We should get ready for the academy."
Her eyes widened in horror as she shot upright. "Shit! I almost forgot! Ugh... at least this is the last week before sumr break."
Asher chuckled, rolling out of bed. "True. And after that... we’ll get officially married. Especially now that you’re pregnant."
Anna’s face lit up. "Yes! I can’t wait to invite our friends to our wedding.."
Asher smiled with her, but the smile faltered when his gaze dropped to the floor. "I’m sorry you won’t be able to continue as a second-year student. With the baby... but I promise, Anna. I’ll take care of you both. You’ll never need to worry."
She grinned with unwavering faith. "Why would I worry, when my husband is an S-rank hunter?"
He laughed softly. "You’re right. Nothing to fear."
At least, that’s what he told her. In truth, there was sothing to worry about—Draegonoth, the forr demon lord sleeping within her.
"Co on. Let’s bathe and get ready," she said, leading the way out.
Asher picked up his bathing kit and followed her. His mother was already in the kitchen cooking. Sharon had bathed earlier and was holed up in her room doing gods-know-what. The two greeted Onalenna before heading into the bathroom to bathe together once more.
