The tendrils dissolved, releasing Adrian. Rose’s voice carried down the town as she left:

Adrian rushed to Cammy’s side. She was breathing, softly snoring like she’d fallen into a deep nap. Relief flooded him. A few minutes later, she stirred, clutching her head.
