It felt like steam was about to burst out of my skull.

Studying mnemomancy wasn’t even close to what I expected. The language alone twisted my tongue in unnatural ways. Eventually, I passed out in the library, face-first into an old to, only to be jolted awake by none other than Elaris—the Matriarch herself.

I groaned and cracked an eye open.

She wasn’t wearing a damn thing.

I blinked. Once. Twice.

Still naked.

"Oi... why the hell aren’t you wearing clothes?" I growled, rubbing my temple.

She smirked and slid my book to the side with one hand, then gracefully perched herself on the edge of my desk like a goddess descending from the heavens—if goddesses flaunted flawless curves and perky tits without a shred of sha.

"You hate seeing naked?" she teased, cupping her full breasts with a soft sigh.

I twitched, heat crawling up my neck. "No... it’s just... distracting."

Understatent of the damn year. I might not be into elves all that much, but Elaris? She was sex on legs.

"We don’t wear clothes during the crossbreeding ritual," she said with a giggle. "A thin drape at most. Nudity keeps the male’s libido burning. It’s a cultural necessity."

What twisted logic.

"Fine," I muttered, averting my eyes from her maddeningly perfect body. "You elves are weird. Can I ask you sothing, though?"

"Of course," she said sweetly, legs crossing and uncrossing in the most distracting way possible. "Ask anything."

"So, uh... I noticed most elves around here have pale skin. But I t a dark elf once. Are they, like, a different race or—"

Her expression turned ice cold.

"Dark elves," she spat. "Never speak of those abominations in my presence again."

I swallowed hard. Abominations?

"I was just curious," I mumbled.

She stood, her hair swaying down her back to her ass as she moved. "If that’s all, I’ll take my leave."

Just as she turned to go, I reached out a hand and grabbed her hand.

"There’s... one more thing."

She looked back, curious. "Yes?"

"I’m having trouble with this book of spirits of mories and... stuff. I really want to understand mnemomancy."

She sighed, eyes narrowing. "That’s impossible."

I frowned. "Why?"

With a pitying look, she patted my shoulder. "That’s a skill humans can’t master! Not to ntion a re man like you. Mnemomancy is a forbidden skill to say the least— only a few capable female elves are even allowed to study it. As you can tell, the ability to alter mories is very dangerous. If everyone were to learn it, the world could be twisted in many unthinkable ways."

She had a point. The potential for abuse was massive. People could steal, rape, manipulate or do other things on purpose, then erase it all from their victim’s mory like it never happened. Mnemomancy wasn’t just dangerous. It was terrifying.

"I get it, Elaris," I said quietly. "I know how scary it is to be able to do this skill and I’ve also ca to understand just how difficult it is to master... but I still want to learn it. Please."

She sighed and strode to a shelf, pulling out a hefty stack of aged files. She dropped them with a thud on my desk.

"That’s 300 cases of people who went mad. And not just any people... but male elves."

My eyes widened slightly as l browsed through the files with drawn sketches of the people’s faces.

"Elven won are strong." She said. "And blessed with the ability to easily master spirit arts, we beca terrifying."

She began walking around in circles like so detective in a typical Arican cri movie, her ass swaying with every step.

"Because of our strength, elven n viewed us as gods. They basically worshipped us. And we enjoyed that. But amongst them was one l thought was the love of my life. One who dared to think differently. Said we weren’t gods. And unlike the others, he was quite capable himself. But he began overestimating himself. Believed that n can be sothing in life and not just our toys we use for self-pleasure. He believed that n were only limited by their mindset— the fact that they knew that won were superior. And so, in his arrogance, he tried to learn mnemomancy... to erase fear, obedience, worship from other n’s minds."

I swallowed, listening intently.

"But he failed," she growled. "He shattered their minds. Mixed up mories. Deleted the wrong ones. So n ran screaming into the wild until they died. Others went missing. So killed themselves. Our entire male population... gone."

My heart raced. No wonder there weren’t any n in this fortress. They’d literally erased themselves into extinction. But in a twisted way, I could understand the logic behind these n’s actions. Every living being is driven—or hindered—by their mindset. It’s our thoughts that shape the limits we accept. Take fear, for example. We avoid climbing high places because we know we might fall and die. But if that fear—if that awareness—were erased from our minds, we’d climb without hesitation. No second-guessing. No doubt. Just raw will, unshackled.

"So you see," Elaris hissed, face inches from mine, "just how dangerous this is. You should abandon this foolishness."

I stood slowly, eting her gaze. "It is risky. But I still want to learn."

She blinked in disbelief. "Didn’t you hear what I just told you?"

"I did. But I’m not like those n. I have a plan. A thod."

She narrowed her eyes. "And what’s that?"

"Superiority," I said, staring her down.

She blinked. Then burst out laughing. "Superiority? Are you insane?"

I smirked, dark and confident. "That’s right. I won’t learn mnemomancy... I’ll conquer it. I’ll show those spirits of mory that I’m above them. That I’m their master."

She stared at like I’d grown horns.

Not my fault. I learned this mindset from a cocky demon brat.

"A bold speech," she said, smirking. "But do you have any test subjects?"

I blinked. "Wait... test subjects?"

Of course. It made perfect sense—I’d need soone to practice on.

But the real question was...

Who the hell would I test this on?

Soone who wouldn’t mind losing their sanity—like the elven n—if I screwed up the spell?
