Alicia squinted her eyes as she looked at Amon. There were many kids who has confessed to her in the past and there were very few who she could rember.

But there was one that was the most morable for multiple reasons.

She took a deep breath and sighed before shaking her head, ’There’s no way he’s Amon. Amon was our academy’s top scorer in written exams but he wasn’t really an awakened. He should be eighteen now... and in two years... I don’t think he has much of a chance to awaken.’

’It is possible.’ a different voice in her head echoed, making her clench her fist.

It was a cold day. Alicia walked behind a group of F ranked awakened students and beside her was the top student, Amon.

A practical test for the one who scored the most in the written exams. That was what today’s event was about; to see how he’d perform in a dungeon.

’How is he even going to fight against monsters when he isn’t awakened? He doesn’t even have equipnt.’ she thought as she turned to look at him.

Amon was tall but lanky. He wore glasses always kept pushing them upwards like it was a habit.

"Amon, you don’t have to risk your life in the dungeon." she said with a warm smile. As a horoom teacher, she had enough ti to spend with all her students and Amon did stand out amongst the rest.

Always studying and whenever she talked, he’d give her all his attention while the others whispered and gossiped.

One could say he was an ideal student.

"Isn’t my job just telling them what to do?" he asked as he pointed at the eight awakened students.

His words made them look back and sneer, "What makes you think we’ll listen to soone like you? Even though you have good grades, you have no experience when it cos to a real fight. Just sit in a corner and let us do our thing."

The dungeon run went smoothly with Amon not really getting a chance to do or say much.

"Ahahaha lets leave. We got nice loot today." the kids excitedly said before they walked out of the gate.

As a professor, Alicia had to ensure that everyone went out before she left so she turned to look at Amon who stood in silence.

"Is sothing wrong?" she asked, frowning a little before she gave him a smile, "Don’t worry. This was just an extra test. Nothing bad is going to happen."

"I know." Amon said as he put his hand in his pocket and took out an envelope before raising it up, "Alicia, I... I like you!"

At this, Alicia exhaled deeply. She didn’t even wish to read the letter. She just wanted to throw it to the side like she did with the other boys before reprimanding him but she sohow couldn’t bring herself to do it.

She took the envelope and pulled out a paper from it.

It was a long letter.

As she read through it, she felt surprised, shy, embarrassed and even weirdly happy.

It was a letter where soone had actually poured their heart out. It was ssy but it was what Amon really thought about her.

Yet, she shook her head.

"I’m sorry, Amon. I’m married and you know that right?"

Amon just smiled in response but the tear rolling down his cheek told a different story.

"I know. It’s just... I want you to be happy. And your marriage is only going to bring you sadness." he said and walked towards the portal.

"Wait what do you an?!" Alicia exclaid, but Amon just walked without responding.

Once he left, she stood there standing in silence.

’Bring sadness... were my instincts always right? Even thought I’ve been ignoring my gut feeling...’ she frowned as she too walked towards the gate.

For the past four months, her husband who was also a teacher at the academy, seed overly busy. Coming ho late almost every single day, his money weirdly getting spent on too much alcohol, him forgetting her birthday and much more.

He barely showed her any love recently, no kisses, no hugs, nothing.

’I’ve been convincing myself that it was just him being tired... but Amon isn’t soone who makes things up. He must have known sothing.’ she thought as she felt a heavy stone in her stomach.

She held back her tears and guided the kids back to the academy before she did the rest of the job for the day. Once it was ti to leave, she looked at her husband who had picked up a file.

"Going out to students’ houses again?" she asked and he nodded.

"Yes. There are gangs that have been harassing a lot of them so I’m trying to help them out so the kids can co back here and study." he said.

"Okay, take care." Alicia said as she watched him leave. She had insisted on joining him in the past but he would always make up reasons.

Now, she didn’t care whether he wanted her with him or not. She was going to follow him until she got her answers.

After a few seconds, she left the building and walked outside to see him standing at a small sweets shop. It was a habit of his, so she knew he’d spend so ti here before actually leaving.

She hid behind a car and waited as she kept a pretty manageable distance from him.

After following him for almost thirty minutes, she watched him enter a house. It was a small house but it wasn’t in the slums.

’He walked in without ringing the bell... and he also had the keys.’ she thought as she got a really bad feeling.

Taking a deep breath she walked towards the house and stood outside the door for a few minutes.

"Ahh~ Don’t rip them!"

"Shut up, slut. I’ll just get you new ones."

It was his voice, a familiar voice but it felt unrecognisable.

Tears blurred her vision as she pushed the unlocked door open and barged inside, only to see the whole thing for herself.
