Qin Zhiyou also felt helpless. At this stage, he had no solution and could only hope that Lu’s mother would wake up soon.
He even dared not ask what she would do if Lu’s mother couldn’t wake up or sustained permanent damage.
The room quietened down in an instant. While Qin Zhiyou was physically present with Lu Weixi, the couple was ntally apart. One was worried that Lu’s mother’s health condition could cause their already shaky marriage to collapse as he watched the IV drip. The other was looking at the door, his mind adrift and far away.
After a long ti, Lu Weixi finally stood up: “I’m going to take a shower. The clothes are here, right?”
Qin Zhiyou humd in response, almost afraid to et her gaze. He was scared that he would be t with Lu Weixi’s cold, piercing eyes.
Lu Weixi picked up her clothes without giving him a second glance and headed straight to the bathroom. Soon, the sound of running water could be heard from inside.
Qin Zhiyou was restless as he waited outside the door. Nearly every half a minute, he would text Secretary Wang, “Is she awake yet?”
However, the answer he received remained a negative.
Qin Zhiyou started to feel desperate. If it were dealing with any woman, he could handle it effortlessly. If it were dealing with the Bai family, he had a hundred ways to make them suffer.
Yet, when it ca to Lu’s mother’s health, there was nothing he could do. Although he sought help from many renowned doctors, they couldn’t stop death.
He was at a loss about what to do, what action he should take.
anwhile, the bathroom door opened, and Lu Weixi ca out. Qin Zhiyou didn’t dare to et her gaze and turned to get his bath towel, “I’m going in too.”
Lu Weixi, with her head down drying her hair, simply nodded and didn’t give him a glance.
Qin Zhiyou entered the bathroom. After closing the door and taking a few steps, he suddenly felt sothing was off. He returned to the door, extending his hand to the doorknob, about to open the door again. However, he hesitated, unsure of what to say to Lu Weixi even if he did open the door, and eventually gave up.
He turned on the showerhead again, letting the cold water fall directly onto his head. The water was freezing. Though it was sumr, the recent frequent rain and the fact that it was the middle of the night made the temperature quite low.
But it was this bone-chilling, icy water he wanted, hoping it could wash away his tangled thoughts.
When he ca out from the shower, Lu Weixi hadn’t left. She was still sitting on the bed, drying her hair. Her face was buried in the towel, completely hidden from view.
There wasn’t a hairdryer in the sickroom. Secretary Wang had brought them a change of clothes, sleepwear and towels. Even Lu Weixi’s skincare products had been packed into her makeup bag. However, they had missed out on a hairdryer.
Lu Weixi bent her head, continuously rubbing her hair with the towel. Qin Zhiyou walked over, lifted the towel, and revealed her sowhat bewildered face.
Qin Zhiyou’s finger crept forward but just as he was about to touch her cheek, Lu Weixi moved slightly away. His hand only grazed her hair.
“Your hair is almost dry.”
Lu Weixi humd in response and moved towards the sickbed. Qin Zhiyou also moved closer, but after he took only a half step, Lu Weixi abruptly turned around. Her gaze turned stern, and she bent her head to bite his shoulder hard.
Qin Zhiyou just stood there, motionless, letting her bite him. She only stopped when she tasted the salty tang of blood in her mouth.
