Chapter 426: Chapter 427: Divorce (2)

His face was calm, so calm that it was impossible to perceive any previous actions. As soon as Zhao Zihao ca out, Lu Weixi imdiately rushed up and asked, “Doctor Zhao, when will my mother wake up?”

Zhao Zihao replied calmly, “She will be able to wake up after the anaesthetic wears off, but she can’t co out as soon as she wakes up. We need to observe her for a few more days.”

Qin Zhiyou replied, “She can stay as long as needed, as long as her condition improves.”

Zhao Zihao glancing at him lightly, he said, “The patient can’t have such emotional fluctuations again. None of us would be able to withstand a repeat of what just happened. Let know imdiately if anything happens. I’m going back to my office now.”

Qin Zhiyou squinted at his retreating figure, having a vaguely ominous feeling.

He had asked Secretary Wang to look into Zhao Zihao’s background, only to find all of his past information wiped clean. The earliest piece of information was about the ti he was first adopted and subsequently abused, when he was ten years old.

But any information prior to that was impossible to dig up. The oldest piece of information was from the earliest data he gave to German officials, stating that he was a refugee from a war-torn country.

This was peculiar because Zhao Zihao, no matter how one looked at it, was clearly ethnic Chinese – he even grew up in Germany. All data regarding his early years, however, were seemingly shrouded in fog, utterly untraceable.

The more elusive the facts, the more likely sothing was awry. He didn’t believe that Zhao Zihao was innocent and his na was rely a coincidence.

He needed to dig deeper.

Mother Lu was still unconscious, showing no signs of waking up soon.

Lu Weixi continued to stand in front of the glass window. Even when persuaded to sit down a bit, she didn’t agree.

Qin Zhiyou was similarly anxious. He didn’t have any particular attachnt to Mother Lu, but he knew that Mother Lu was Lu Weixi’s lifeline.

Moreover,

Mother Lu was the most important shackle keeping their marriage intact. Lu Weixi had stayed with him all these years precisely because she was unable to bear the burden of her mother’s treatnt alone. Once her mother passed away, nothing would stop her!

Therefore, he must spare no effort to treat Mother Lu!

Thus, Qin Zhiyou stayed with Lu Weixi. If she refused to rest, he too would stand by her side, without uttering a word of complaint.

It was five in the morning after Mother Lu’s surgery when Qin Zhiyou made a call for Secretary Wang to co over. He even asked him to bring over so mineral water.

Qin Zhiyou opened the bottle for Lu Weixi, but she shook her head, not wanting to eat nor drink anything. She only wanted to stay by her mother’s side. Qin Zhiyou persuaded her, “At this ti, if you fall as well, who will take care of your mother when she wakes up? You must hold on!”

Lu Weixi, who seed a bit absent-minded, nodded and then took the water from his hand.

The waiting ti was long and drawn out. Lu Weixi summoned the caregiver to inquire about the situation before her mother’s bout of illness. The caregiver stated, “She was fine at eight o’clock last night, exercising after dinner. Then, she encountered a few acquaintances and chatted a bit before returning ho. Her expression wasn’t very good after she returned. She turned in after watching the news, and not long after, she fell ill.”

What news had she watched that had such an enormous impact?

Just as Lu Weixi was about to ask, the caregiver looked at Qin Zhiyou. She seed a bit evasive, “It was about a host nad Liu Yiyi – and Mr. Qin’s affair.”

At that mont, Qin Zhiyou truly believed that Lu Weixi would divorce him!
