Five years ago, his wedding to Lu Weixi had indeed occurred in earnest. Although it wasn’t widely publicized, everyone in their social circle was aware.

But after the initial clash, both parties had reached a subtle equilibrium. She moved in with him, and Qin Zhigu and Cai Yiren’s relationship stabilized; they subtly flaunted their affection without acknowledging each other.
The previous marriage proposal had even been initiated by Lu Weixi herself. She had heard that Qin Zhigu wanted to study abroad and that Cai Yiren planned to join him.
Applying for studies at Ivy League Schools was a joint goal for her and Qin Zhigu from freshman to senior year. This went beyond just showing off their affection; it was their future career plans and shared dreams. But now, Cai Yiren had declared in front of her that she was going to study abroad with Qin Zhigu, further their education together, and support one another in becoming designers. This was not rely a betrayal of their relationship but of the ideals they had both worked towards.
However, at the ti Cai Yiren suggested this during their sumr break after senior year, in the presence of just the three of them, Qin Zhigu did not utter a word, seemingly acquiescing to her statent, his frown growing deeper.
Lu Weixi didn’t take a stance then, but later, alone with Qin Zhiyou in her room, facing soone who was lingering on her neck, she suddenly asked, “Do you want to marry ?”
Qin Zhiyou was taken aback. He knew that the estrangent between Lu Weixi and Qin Zhigu was essentially a misunderstanding. Despite their excessively hurtful actions which had led to a point of no return, it wasn’t certain that she would choose him even if she didn’t reconcile with Qin Zhigu. To his surprise, she was the one proposing marriage!
He slowly moved away, scrutinizing her. He was so thrilled he could hardly believe it, fearing that Lu Weixi was rely acting on impulse. But then again, even if it was just a spur-of-the-mont decision, he needed to ensure that Lu Weixi transford that impulse into sothing concrete. Even though they lived together every day, without the official marriage certificate, he felt uneasy.
Yet he didn’t dare show too much excitent, lest he frighten her and she refuse to marry him.
Qin Zhiyou’s sudden silence and expression sowhat sobered Lu Weixi. She too felt that Qin Zhiyou, a playboy, was fine for a fling, but relying on him for commitnt was out of the question, so she just smiled and said, “It was just a joke, don’t take it seriously.”
But the next day, during a al shared by both the Qin and Bai Families, Cai Yiren ntioned the topic again in front of everyone, and before Qin Zhigu could respond, Lu Weixi took Qin Zhiyou’s arm and said, “Fine, since you two are together anyway, let’s pick a date for my marriage as well. Didn’t we say it before? Good friends should get engaged and married together.”
