Qin Zhiyou’s heart skipped a beat, having no idea how to explain his earlier words to Lu’s mother, especially since she already disliked him. “I accidentally made her angry—ouch!”
Before he could finish speaking, Lu’s mother threw a remote control at his leg. It seed as if the mother and daughter had so kind of telepathic connection, as the remote precisely hit the spot on his shin that had been kicked twice already, causing Qin Zhiyou to flinch in pain.
Lu’s mother was furious. “Qin Zhiyou, you’ve grown bold enough to anger my daughter! Get out!”

Qin Zhiyou, on the verge of tears, tried to lower his stance to regain Lu’s mother’s favor, but she was not having any of it.
“No ‘didn’t’ what, who’s your mom? Get out now!”
Already in pain from his leg, Qin Zhiyou was dragged by Lu’s mother to the doorstep, where she furiously shouted “Goodbye!” before slamming the door shut.
Qin Zhiyou sighed and reluctantly stood outside the window, knocking. “Xixi, it’s my fault, please don’t be mad, okay?”
No one responded from her room. After a while, he simply decided to call her phone, and sure enough, he heard her ringtone from the room next door. But the ringing cut off after a couple of tones as Lu Weixi rejected his call. He called again, and she rejected it once more. Calling again, Qin Zhiyou distinctly heard, “The number you have dialed is busy…”
She had blocked him.
Qin Zhiyou let out a long sigh. “Well, Xixi, rest well, I’ll co to see you tomorrow.”
Lu Weixi was lying at the head of her bed in her room, hearing his retreating footsteps. Initially, she was indeed angry, but now, she wasn’t just angry; she felt tired.
Although she had been crying earlier due to the pressure of work and life, it originally started because of sothing about Qin Zhiyou. She was not angry that Qin Zhiyou had forgotten their first eting, nor was it about the unpleasant mories of the past. Rather, she realized that her love for Qin Zhiyou was growing day by day, but the feelings he reciprocated didn’t seem to match hers.
He did have feelings for her, but more so for the child. In his life, she was just one of many won. Although she ant a bit more than the others, if it wasn’t for the child, she probably wouldn’t stand out much.
Work issues might be resolvable. She could ignore Cai Yiren and the Bai Family’s provocations. But love wasn’t sothing that if one falls in love, the other has to reciprocate in the sa way. She lacked confidence.
Lu Weixi buried her head in the pillow and sighed. As she lay there lancholy, suddenly, she heard a noise at the window. She got up and saw Qin Zhiyou taking out keys to unlock the security window, preparing to co in.
So, his departure earlier was just to retrieve his keys from his car.
Lu Weixi was furious. Though she felt uneasy inside, seeing him nonchalantly entering ignited a wave of anger, and she wanted to push him out imdiately. Qin Zhiyou, quicker than her, had already hopped through the window and grabbed her tightly.
“Qin Zhiyou, you—”
Before she could finish, he silenced her remaining words by sealing her lips with his.
Still upset and unwilling to let him succeed, they struggled between advancing and retreating, and sohow, in the tussle, he drew her next to the bed, and they both fell onto it together.
