Chapter - 17
As the night fell, Iris walked towards Lucius's room, with a servant carrying a tray with food in her hands.
Knock! Knock!!
Iris knocked on the door, but even after waiting for a while there was no response.
Knock! Knock!!
She knocked again, but the result was the sa, no response.
"Maybe the young master has already slept?" The young servant behind Iris spoke up.
"Young master? Who told you he is your young master?" Iris looked at the young servant raising his eyebrows in a frown.
"Sorry, I am sorry young miss... I just thought that you and him..." The young servant tried to explain herself, but was cut short by Iris.
"Let those with brains do the thinking," Iris shut her up and opened the door of Lucius's room, "Just put the dinner inside and leave."
The scared young servant bowed down her head and quickly putting the food on the bedside table, hurried off the room.
anwhile, Iris did not find Lucius anywhere in the room as she walked in with slow steps. She looked around to see if Lucius did any changes to the room.
But at that mont, the bathroom door creaked open. And Iris's head turned in the direction only to get her breath hold for a couple of seconds.
Lucius just stepped out of the bath, his hair still tamp, and water droplets trailing down his bare chest.
A towel hung loosely around his waist, clinging just enough to stay in place. The faint steam mist around him.
But Iris wasn't sure what stunned her more... The sight of his toned, well-defined body or the wounds and old scars on his body.
She felt anxious in her chest as she saw his wounds. They don't look like they were caused by sothing that left him dying by the lake. Iris had expected cuts and bruises, but not this. Not scars that looked like they had been there for a long ti.
Earlier she just thought to look into him to make good use of him, but now she had to know more. She can't have complications ruining her plans with sothing she can't control.
"Hey, don't look at like that; I feel sothing sothing," Lucius dramatically covered his chest and acted shy, stealing glances at Iris.
"Uh–Sorry," Iris instinctively said, looking away. But then it hit her, "You... How can you be so non serious all the ti? Had the accident short-circuited so of your wires?"
"Do you always try and sound this intellectual?" Lucius grinned, rubbing the back of his neck, "But I didn't expect you to be here at this ti. You weren't thinking of taking advantage of , were you?" he said while running his hand through his wet hair.
Iris quickly blinked and forced herself to focus, ignoring his words, "I brought you food," she said, gesturing towards the tray, "And your dicines."
"Oh... Thanks," Lucius nodded, "In return for all your services, let give you one ti pass." Lucius spoke with all seriousness.
"If you ever want to do sothing funny with , I will allow it," Lucius winked at Iris, "Just let know beforehand."
Saying so, he walked in front of the mirror and even, his gaze fell again on his scars, "These don't look like anything recent. There are quite a few of them," He spoke to himself, outloud as he looked at Iris through the mirror.
Iris had told him he had been in an accident, but looking at his body now, sothing didn't add up. So of these wounds were too old, too deep, and didn't match the story he had been given.
Iris didn't look away under Lucius's gaze, keeping that poker face of her intact.
"It is ti to change your bandages. Do you want so help?" her fingers tapping against her arms.
Lucius did not reply, he kept searching her face for sothing unusual. But when there was nothing, he sighed, "You just need a chance to touch this sexy body of mine. Girl, just ask so if you want to. Why beat around the bush?"
But just as she was about to say sothing he quickly spoke again, "But I won't refuse you from having so enjoynt in your boring life. Just make it quick."
And he swiftly went ahead and sat on the bed.
Iris stood there, montarily stunned. 'This guy. What is he?' she thought, before exhaling sharply and grabbing the first aid kit.
She moved closer, sitting beside him. She quickly went ahead and unwrapped the bandages with ease. The mont her fingers brushed against his arm, she could feel the warmth of his skin.
"You are quite an expert," Lucius comnted, but Iris just worked in silence. After applying the dicine, she started wrapping the bandage.
"Ouch... Easy you Sadist," Lucius muttered under his breath. Instead of words, Iris answered with her actions. She pressed a little harder than necessary.
"Stop whining, baby. You will live," Iris said flatly, not sparing him a glance.
"Are you always this gentle, or am I just special?" Lucius looked at his bandaged arm and asked.
"You're special, alright," she replied as if nothing happened, wrapping the bandage around his chest.
Lucius smirked but said nothing else.
Once she was done, Iris pulled back and whipped her hands, "Eat your dinner and then have your dicine."
Lucius raised an eyebrow as she handed him the plate, "Ohhh... You are going to feed now? Should I call you 'Nurse Iris' or 'Mommy'?"
"Call nothing. Just eat." Iris wasn't playing along.
He chuckled and took a bite, "You cooked this?"
"Does it matter?"
He studied her for a second before shaking his head, "Not if it won't kill ."
"No one in this house has enough ti to spare to kill you."
"Ouch, you and your tough love," Lucius took another bite, chewing slowly, "You know, if I didn't know better, I would say you were actually concerned about ."
"I am more concerned about cleaning after your dead corpse."
Lucius grinned, "Such a warm heart you have. Touched, I am so touched."
Ignoring him, Iris stood up, "Well, my job here is done. You can rest after dinner."
As she turned to leave, Lucius spoke up, "That woman you were arguing with earlier... Who was she?"
Iris paused for a fraction of a second before responding, "My aunt."
Lucius tilted his head, "You don't seem like the type to waste your energy arguing for no reason. What was it about?"
Iris glanced at him over her shoulder, "Family matters."
"That explains fucking nothing." Lucius shook his head and smiled.
"Good."
Lucius let out a short laugh hearing her, but didn't push further. Instead, he leaned back against the pillows with a sigh,
"If it was because of , I can always leave," Lucius whispered, but Iris could hear him, "You know, I have no idea how I ended up in this ss. I wish I could rember sothing."
"You survived. That's lucky enough. Stop acting like it's the end of the world," Iris looked at him and said.
Lucius chuckled hearing her, "You really know how to comfort a guy."
"No one needs to be comforted, boy. Everyone is on their own." Iris turned back to the door, "Goodnight, Lucius."
Lucius watched her leave, his smile slowly fading. His body was in slight pain right now, but more than that, he had other things weighing on his mind. But sohow, knowing about himself wasn't the priority.
He wanted to know more about her now, her family, and just what kind of life she lived behind that emotionless facade.
He exhaled and closed his eyes, "Yeah, goodnight, Mommy Iris."
