"Now, let’s talk about how not to die today," Lilith said as she clapped her hands once, and everyone chuckled softly because it felt like Lilith was about to give them a lecture about how to survive in the wilderness.
But why would she do that when they were clearly not one of the contestants?
However, to their surprise, everyone began to notice sothing hovering above the arena.
They were like floating eyeballs.
Well, actually, they were floating eyeballs, but each of them had leathery bat-like wings, and they hovered silently around the arena with their pupils dilating as they focused on the arena floor.
"These are Surveillance Eyes," Lilith explained as she gestured upward to the hundreds and thousands of eyeballs hovering above everyone.
More appeared out of thin air before spreading across the sky in a loose formation.
"These Surveillance Eyes will help us to observe every contestant, so whether you’re watching from the front row or from the farthest seat in the back, you won’t miss a single thing," Lilith explained as the floating eyeballs rotated slowly before syncing with the glowing projection crystals embedded around the arena’s upper tiers.
Each crystal flared to form massive semi-transparent screens in the air, almost as though everyone were about to watch a movie on a TV screen.
The images on the screen flickered, and everyone watched the live feeds as the screens showed their images from different angles.
Seeing all these, the crowds erupted in cheers again, but Lilith let them do as they pleased before raising her hand as she continued.
"Now, each contestant is expected to follow a specific list of rules."
"Rule number one: Each contestant may wield only one type of weapon. The sa goes for if you’re a Conjurer or an Enhancer. However, you may change weapons if you’ve progressed to the next stage. This ans that if you use a sword or conjure up a sword in the first round, you’re more than welco to use sothing different in the second round."
Rule number two: Killing is not the goal, but it could happen. However, judges will try their best to prevent this from happening. So, if contestants fall unconscious or lose control of their powers, they’re out."
Hearing this, the crowds began to murmur, but Lilith continued. "For Rule number three, outside interference is forbidden. No contestant, regardless of how high their noble rank may be, is allowed to have anyone supporting them during their participation in the tournant. If found guilty of this, will be imdiately disqualified."
Lilith’s eyes glinted knowingly as she glanced again around the arena and the contestants who could clearly hear her voice from underneath.
"Everyone fights alone." She said before inhaling slowly.
"And finally... For the first round of the tournant, all contestants will be transported to one of several combat zones."
Several projection screens appeared in front of all the contestants, along with all the spectators watching from above.
On the screen, everyone could see the wide, sunlit landscape which appeared over several different zones and locations, ranging from forests to valleys, mountains, and even abandoned villages.
The crowds leaned forward as they each gasped in surprise at all the different terrains laid out in front of them.
But so also noticed sothing huge standing in each location within the screens, and Lilith explained so as to make them know what each contestant will be battling against.
"Each of the contestants will be facing an animated golem having a makeshift elental core within them."
Hearing this, everyone turned back to the screens, and they noticed the golem’s eyes glowing in rage.
From what they could see, so of the golems looked small while others looked big, but they each looked really strong, aning that defeating the golems certainly wouldn’t be easy for any demon to achieve.
"Each golems are prepared to do whatever it takes to prevent you from winning, and they will not care who you are."
"You might be born from a simple background or from a noble household, but none of these matters to the golem because they will not stop or hesitate to hurt you."
"And you must be prepared to do the sa."
"You must defeat or outlast your opponent within the ti limit if you wish to win this first phase of the tournant."
"Rember, if you lose control of your aura, you will be disqualified, so mind the way you use your abilities while you battle against these golems." Lilith offered them one final warning before raising her hands as she yelled.
"Contestants!! The Demon Youth Tournant has officially begun!!!"
Lilith exclaid excitedly, but rather than the contestants yelling in excitent, it was the viewers who did so. However, she didn’t dally any longer.
She swiftly snapped her fingers, and everyone underneath the arena suddenly felt sothing shift or move around them.
The magic circle underneath their feet instantly glowed, and the world around them blurred as the light swallowed everyone, causing them all to disappear from where they were standing a few seconds ago.
Now, everyone was gone.
Aster also felt the world around him twisting before vanishing away.
He didn’t really feel pain while this happened, but the air around him folded, and he felt his body being pulled before appearing in a different location.
The heat in this place was the first thing he noticed upon arriving here.
Of course, it wasn’t a suffocating heat, but it was still high enough to be a worry for so demons of the sa power rank as him.
Looking around, Aster noticed dozens of other figures appeared one after another, but while so staggered the mont their feet touched the ground, others stood straight, and they swiftly began to scan around their surroundings like a predator dropping into an unfamiliar territory.
Aster inhaled slowly and noticed how wide this place was.
The sky above was orange in color, and it had ash colored clouds.
Aster also noticed the large stones with pointy edges, making them look like jagged heads as they were sharp and scattered across the terrain.
Rivers of what looked like magma could also be found at various other spots as well, and the sharp scent of burnt stone filled the air.
anwhile, watching from across the continent, from the comfort of their hos, dozens of floating magic crystals floated silently through the air.
These magic crystals were linked to the countless winged eyeballs currently surveilling all the contestants.
"Oh my devi, isn’t that His Highness?" A female demon asked as she watched with her husband and children.
"Yes, I believe so." Her husband replied.
"I hope His Highness wins this round."
"He will, just sit and watch, you’ll see."
Her husband assured her, and just like that, everyone sat down to watch the fight.
The sa goes for everyone within the continent, including Sara and Cara, who were currently doing the sa back at Vivian’s castle.
Since Vulcan knew that not everyone would be able to co to the arena to watch the fight, Vulcan was able to sell a lot of magic crystals to a lot of high-ranking nobles within the continent.
These magic crystals had been developed by so of the brightest minds in the academy to allow the students easy access to watch important club competitions from the comfort of their dormitory or within a shared gathering.
But now, these magic crystals had been made available for nobles and commoners gathered in a tavern, and right now, the screen was focused solely on Aster as he glanced at the huge monster roaring in front of him.
And just like him, several other contestants had a golem roaring in front of them.
However, unlike a few other demons who were shaken by the might and largeness of the huge monster in front of them, Aster remained calm and relaxed as he took a deep breath before charging headfirst at the huge monster.
Then he instantly flowed his aura straight to his feet, which helped in greatly increasing his speed as he ran and leaped very high to conjure up a really long and huge flaming sword, which imdiately speared straight into the golem’s chest, and that also happened to be exactly where the golem’s core currently was.
The flaming sword instantly pierced through the core of the golem, and the golem lted into mud like ice into water.
Since the golem had initially been constructed using earth, water, and magma magic, the magical construct imdiately returned to its original form.
Now, standing proudly in front of the broken core, Aster smiled and turned around as he got teleported away from the battleground.
anwhile, in a not-so-distant location from where Aster had just defeated his own golem, a certain blue-skinned demon had just done the sa to hers, and right now the huge golem had a large ice spear impaled into its chest.
The golem dropped to its knees, and the ground shook violently as the large magical construct slamd its body on the floor before lting into muddy water.
But Astrid had the sa expressionless face as she simply stared at the dead monster in front of her before turning around.
But back at the arena, watching as her daughter had easily gotten rid of the golem that was her target, Isabella smiled subtly as she watched Astrid make her way into the next stage of the competition.
