The buzzing continued even as Milo stepped down as it seed like his display has cranked up the heat in the arena.
Milo was finally down from the platform, his face flushed, excited but steady.
Kyrie t him mid way with a genuine smile.
"Told you."
Milo grinned weakly. Still breathing slowly
"That was terrifying."
Kyrie’s expression softened slightly. Tapping his shoulder.
"You did well."
Milo nodded, as he looked at the side seeing Jas who was now been attended to by so healers while an instructor scolded him.
More matches followed but amongst them one caught Kyrie’s attention the most.
It was a druid teleporter who was nad Jethro. He opened Kyrie’s eyes on how he could efficiently use his skill: Void Shift.
Kyrie didn’t fail to pay attention to everything till his turn ca.
"Shaw, Kyrie. Versus Avery, Ryan."
Clyde announced.
The crowd suddenly grew quieter.
Kyrie with his hands still in his pockets climbed the platform slowly.
The mont his field of vision moved above the stairs, they aligned with his opponent’s.
Ryan Avery. A lean, athletic looking young man with platinum blonde hair and sharp icy blue eyes.
His uniform was the sa black on black but there was just sothing about it that made it pristine, his posture relaxed and highly focused.
He was a young invoker.
Kyrie could feel it imdiately which caused him to have an inward self-depreciating smile as he cocked his head left almost like.
-Here We Go Again!
Ryan’s Reserve was massive compared to his. Maybe five tis larger.
But Kyrie had fought Invokers before. Rudolf and his partner were testant but they might not be the best examples after all he got his ass whooped then.
Ryan stayed motionless with arms crossed and his expression neutral.
"You’re the Omni-Type."
Kyrie nodded once.
"And you’re the Principal’s son."
Ryan’s jaw tightened slightly, but he didn’t respond.
Kyrie had gotten the information even while he was still climbing up. The gossipers seed to have a good effect this ti.
Clyde stood motionless as he could feel the tension building on the platform. He smiled as he raised his hand.
" I’m sure you know the rules boys"
He paused taking a final look at both fighters before dropping down his hand and his voice echoed throughout the arena.
"Begin!"
Ryan didn’t dally as he moved imdiately.
His palms went from warm red to cold blue as ice erged from within.
In the blink of an eye spears of frozen energy. Sharp and fast shot toward Kyrie in rapid succession.
Kyrie initially stood still as his red pupils moved from left to right in quick succession keeping track.
He quickly sidestepped the first wave by moving to the side and imdiately ducked under the second wave.
He imdiately raised his hand as a fan-like wave of flas burst from his palm, deflecting and lting the third spear mid-flight.
The air rattled with the hissing sounds of the resulting steam.
Ryan didn’t relent. He created more ice spears, launching them in waves. Hoping to exhaust Kyrie.
Kyrie stretched his hand, activating Emperor’s Hand extending a telekinetic force, deflecting two of them.
The third grazed his shoulder slightly, cold biting through his uniform as the crowd gasped fully imrsed in what they were witnessing.
" That stung "
Kyrie gritted his teeth and launched forward purposely moving like a blur as fire coiled around his fist.
He was aware he had to hold back because the last ti he didn’t. A father died.
Ryan frowned as he thrust his hand out, and an ice arrow shot toward Kyrie’s chest.
Kyrie’s mind flared as his Skill: On revealed a twist to him, the arrow was a duo with one mirroring the other and difficult to discern.
Kyrie smirked as his feet shifted as he twisted to the side half turning as they missed by inches, while he closed the distance.
His burning fist flew forward but he connected with empty air.
Ryan was fast, stepping back and already forming another attack in a fluid motion.
The air around Ryan began to crack like glass as Ice shards materialized around him, hovering in the air like a frozen storm.
Kyrie’s Psyche Resonance sprung to life in that mont as the boy’s emotions opened up to him.
Pressure. Anxiety. Determination.
His mother was watching. He couldn’t afford to lose. Especially to soone of a lower tier.
The shards hovered nacingly and was sent like a miniature storm towards Kyrie.
Kyrie’s red eyes trailed while he raised both hands he concentrated flas like a ballistic missile making sure to crank up the intensity just enough.
The flas surged outward, lting the shards before they reached him resulting in a massive explosion of steam that stretched out to cover the platform.
The crowd all heard their breaths at the magnitude of the explosion.
These two were seriously going at it for a re qualifier? So thought while others wondered how newbies were already this strong.
Ky rie took a low breath but he couldn’t afford that as Ryan was already moving.
Another ice spear ford in mid air larger this ti with the tip glistening as he alternatively hurled it with both hands.
The spear tore through the space, wheezing nscinglym
Kyrie even in the cover of the miasma from the collision could sense impending danger with On but being able to sense danger was a different story from reacting to it.
He did his best to conjure a growing wave of fire that arched like a whip deflecting but most importantly lting the tip of the spear that wasn’t completely stopped as it
struck his side, sending him stumbling backward.
Cold imdiately spread through his ribs, it was sharp and numbing.
The crowd gasped both in horror and excitent.
Ryan’s expression didn’t change, his mask didn’t falter but Kyrie felt the spike of satisfaction in his emotions.
He thinks he’s winning.
Kyrie stood as he straightened up, his hand pressing against his side sending jolts of warmth through his body.
The cold was fading. His fire was already lting the ice from within.
As the battle turned the knob on the temperature of the area. Interchanging between cold and hot like two forces that struggled for supremacy.
He looked up at Ryan. His red eyes peered through the fast fading smoke.
And smirked mischievously.
"You only know how to attack."
Ryan’s eyes narrowed. His hands were already swirling in Icy blue energy again.
Kyrie moved again but this ti he didn’t charge. He circled around his prey.
Ryan quickly launched another spear, but Kyrie was already gone, putting those Agility stats to use. Moving laterally.
Another spear ca and yet another miss. Kyrie doing nothing but dodging as his closed fist was pulsating an orange hue.
Ryan’s frustration spiked even as his face stayed neutral.
Kyrie felt it.
He’s panicking.
It’s almost ti!
Ryan began forming another attack, but this ti Kyrie was faster.
The fire he had been accumulating in his fist all this while erupted from both palms, not as projectiles but as an undulating wave. It spread across the platform like forcing Ryan to retreat backwards as quickly as possible.
And in that retreat, Kyrie saw it.
The opening.
Ryan’s offensive only style left him exposed.
Kyrie stretched his hand in that mont as a red aura surrounded his palm while an unseen force grabbed Ryan’s ankle mid-step.
Ryan stumbled slightly and Kyrie lunged at him.
Flas swiftly coiled around his fist and so on his feet increasing his forward montum as he drove his scorching fist forward.
Ryan saw him while trying to regain balance. Raising his hands, ice forming desperately.
But it wasn’t enough.
Kyrie’s fist broke through the infant barrier and connected with Ryan’s chest in a boom.
Ryan flew backwards, hitting the ground hard as smoke poured from his chest and damaged clothes.
The platform fell silent.
Ryan coughed out blood as he pushed himself up slowly, ice still crackling around his hands.
But Kyrie was already standing over him. as his fra blowed the sun leaving a shadow figure and just those red nacing globes that’s stared down at Ryan like.a predator
"Yield."
Ryan looked up as his jaw clenched. For a mont, it looked like he would refuse.
Then he exhaled sharply.
He had been bested.
"I yield."
Everything went silent in the mont as Clyde’s voice echoed.
"Victor: Kyrie Sh-"
His voice was swallowed completely by the roars that erupted all around.
The crowd went wild.
Kyrie stepped back, offering his hand as a sign of acknowledgent.
Ryan stared at it and looked the other way.
Then he stood on his own, still holding his chest as he groaned under his breath.
His expression was bitter like he just lost sothing really valuable.
"You’re an Omni-Type. That’s not a fair fight."
He mumbled with a cracked voice.
Kyrie’s hand retracted his hand, placing it back in his pocket as he turned away.
"If you say so"
Ryan turned and walked off the platform without another word.
Kyrie watched him go, his body half turned.
Even as he finally listened to the roaring crowd.
It beca clear to him that this wasn’t like where he was fighting for his life in secret.
Now he was in the open for all to see and as much as the feeling was a tad bit exhilarating. It was also consuming .
From the elevated seating, a woman with platinum blonde hair and cold blue eyes observed silently.
Principal Rosalyn Avery.
Her expression was unreadable.
Kyrie stepped down from the platform even as the crowd still rattled. Milo was waiting. A grin on his face.
"That was incredible mate."
Kyrie didn’t respond imdiately. His side still ached as hell and he needed so private ti to heal.
But he’d won.
Ding!

It was about ti he thought.
Still on the elevated platform, Claire had her hands over Guinevere’s shoulders.
A smile on her face.
"So that’s the one huh ?"
Guinevere remained quiet, her eyes following Kyrie’s every move.
" Yeah that’s the one "
It didn’t take long before Clyde dismissed everyone.
The students began filing out in waves still chattering. Both male and female. Different species of students sneaking glances at Kyrie.
Kyrie was about to leave when he felt sothing familiar.
A presence.
He glanced up toward the elevated seating.
A pair of purple eyes watched him from the shadows.
And then they were gone.
