Inside the Foundation was bustling as ever. The zooming sounds of Airships hung in the air even as the chatter of students going to class while others were training in the open air training grounds.

"Today am having a possible one on one, I will give you the outco if I co out in one piece "

Kyrie would seen with white hair across his crimson eyes and speaking into a prompter.

He tapped the prompter again initiating the send option.

This was the only way he could reach out to Negan and according to Desirae. It was a one way trip due to the fact he was still a student and hadn’t sworn his oaths to the governnt of Teknologia.

Kyrie was done with the ssage as he moved closer to the window to take a view.

The bed to his side was empty as Milo left a lot earlier. Sothing about needing to fix so housing issues.

Kyrie didn’t bother to ask much about it even though he was slowly warming up to the boy after all he was his roommate. What choice did he have.

Kyrie went back to his bed where his uniform was. They were finally delivered by so ch-bots yesterday evening.

Seems the academy didn’t appreciate the coat that Desirae bought him being worn to the testing.

Kyrie didn’t waste ti. He donned the uniform on and then wear a pair of open finger gloves that the witch had sohow snuck in there. She even got them in different colours.

Kyrie shook his head and smiled as he walked out of room 237.

The corridor of the Dormitory was quiet, as most of the freshers were already making their way to Arena.

The gas lamps mounted on the walls of the corridor flickered with blue hue.

Kyrie balanced his scarf on his neck as he made his way to the Arena.

_____

The Arena for the qualitiers was located as the edge of the training grounds. It was like a miniature stadium made of brass, iron and gears.

It was open-air and lunar with reinforced steel that showed burn marks and cracks from previous bouts held there.

It had elevated seats that surrounded a floating platform, filled with students and instructors.

The noises from within were constant. Different voices blending while the sense of anticipation kept building.

Kyrie was at the entrance and began looking around searching for Milo but even while he looked.

Multiple eyes stared back, so with intrigue others with disdain while so had attraction bleeding out.

Kyrie who couldn’t spot Milo from the crowd that kept increasing decided to call the boy via his prompter instead.

He was about to make the call when a hand suddenly gripped his left shoulder.

Kyrie turned swiftly to find Milo with head facing the ground, breathing heavily as he coughed slightly.

He raised his face that was covered with sweat.

"Hope I made it on ti mate?"

Kyrie looked at him with an expression out of a cartoon. His eyes felt like there were dotting.

" They haven’t even started yet mate? " He responded in the sa speech pattern mirroring him perfectly.

Milo’s eyes snapped open as he looked up at Kyrie. He was actually startled how he sounded exactly like he did.

Kyrie smiled before turning.

" Where were you? And why are you so sweaty "

Milo followed behind Kyrie as he contemplated if he wanted to answer the question.

" I received a call this morning from the academy’s housing office "

"And?" Kyrie asked while still walking towards the area where their mates were seated.

"They’re saying my parents paynt for my dormitory and allowances for feeding are clashing"

" Clashing? " Kyrie eyebrows raised.

" I don’t know what’s it about really mate , but I think my parents would have to repay or I either end up holess or hungry "

His tone was one of confusion.

Kyrie turned to look at him. His eyes losing it’s coldness for the first ti in a while.

" I’m sure your parents would sort it out. Just make them proud "

Kyrie honestly didn’t know where that ca from but he resonated with it as well.

He had to make both Negan and Edwin proud while here and it was sothing he carried. He believed it was the only way to pay back their kindness and love.

Milo stayed rooted in that mont as he didn’t even know what to say but inside of him, a well of resolve rose. He continued walking behind Kyrie not saying another word.

They made their way to where other fresher participants were and sohow found a way to front with Kyrie as deterrent and Milo behind him.

A sharp beam of light suddenly pierced through the air before landing on the platform leaving a small shockwave.

As the brightness cleared. Clyde was seen standing at the center of the platform, his voice cutting through the crowd.

"The qualifier is simple. One-on-one combat. Victory through surrender, incapacitation, or ejection off the platform. Lethal force is prohibited."

He paused before reiterating it.

" Lethal force is prohibited! "

He gestured toward the platform.

"Do well to step forward when your na is called."

And so the matches began.

....

The students were pitted against each other to show their capabilities.

They fought with varying skill levels. So were quick and decisive fighter while so others hesitated, second guessed themselves and were overwheld.

Multiple instructors watched from the sidelines. Taking down notes that varied from strengths and weaknesses of the fighters and where improvents would be possible.

They were breeding the next generation of loyal psion tools, so they have to be ticulous about it.

Kyrie observed every match keenly.

He noticed their techniques, weaknesses, strengths and patterns.

Information was useful and Kyrie was one thay knew how to gather information and effectively so. Those stats to intelligence were not for show.

Beside Kyrie, was Milo, who was just as intentional as Kyrie about the fights. It was like he was getting himself accustod to everything while preparing for his own fight.

Until now Milo didn’t directly use his power for combat but he was capable of it.

Strength was a basis for survival and the Weak would perish if they refuse to evolve.

"I’m up soon." He said.

Kyrie glanced at him.

"You’ll be fine."

Milo nodded, but his hands were now shaking. Was it excitent or nerves. I guess we will never know.

"Reeves Milo. Versus Diggle, Jas"

That was Milo’s cue.

...

Milo took in so quick breaths and exhaled sharply as he stepped forward.

Kyrie watched as Milo climbed onto the platform. His opponent was already there. He was a stocky young man with short orange hair and a confident smirk.

He looked actually excited for the fight or was it that his opponent felt week.

It didn’t matter to Clyde who raised his hand

"Begin."

Jas moved first.

Bright orange flas erupted from his palms, spiraling like a stream toward Milo in a wide arc.

Milo was quite in his feet as he sidestepped, his right hand coated by a blue aura.

His attention was aid at a nearby piece of debris that was lifted into the air that ca down like rain toward Jas.

Jas, who wasn’t sluggish managed to dodge by sliding to the side. he believed he was out of harm’s way in his pre-emptive move as he conjured more intense flas that bit against the air.

Milo, expected the man’s action as he wasn’t aiming at Jas directly.

The debris that were launched instead struck the ground behind Jas, kicking up a film of dust and obscuring vision.

Jas who could see and now was blind did the next best thing. He shot the flas in the form of a shallow stream at the last position he saw Milo.

His attempt was lukewarm and lacked conviction and Milo used this .

He stretched a telekinetic force that slamd into Marcus from the side, knocking him off balance.

Before Marcus could recover, Milo followed up with a very powerful push, this one alot stronger than the previous.

Jas stumbled, backwards. His chest brimming with pain while he fell.

His back hit the edge of the platform hard but he wasn’t going down this easy not to a boy who looked like he hadn’t done this before.

While still laying on the ground he yelled as he pushed his open palm forcefully forward as a large ball of fire erged fueled by his frustration.

The recoil of the fire caused him to roll back even more, almost falling off the platform completely.

The temperature around the platform rose continuously as the seating firm humd while it approached.

Clyde saw this and was about to get involved but sothing about Milo changed his mind.

Milo’s eyes reflected the flas but what appeared wasn’t just panic but resolve.

His chance to be here ca from his parents breaking their backs and he wasn’t just going to let them down.

He stretched both his hands forward and for the first ti, Kyrie saw anger or was it raw determination in Milo’s eyes.

A powerful telekinetic force erupted outwards as it collided with the fire and overwheld it causing the trajectory of the fire to reverse to where it ca from.

Jas who was on the ground was shocked and defenseless as his own flas slamd into him sending him flying out of the platform with smoke pouring from his body.

Clyde’s voice echoed with what seed like satisfaction.

"Victor: Milo Reeves."

Milo’s eyes widened in excitent as a portion of the crowd cheered wildly while so others mumbled.

Milo cleaned the sweat off his temples as he smiled.

Kyrie stood at the base of the platform. Arms folded with a broad smile on his face.
