Marcus’s POV

The wind itself seed to hold its breath.

Vanguard’s expression shifted, his predatory smile lting into sothing arctic and dangerous. "Kneel."

The command sliced through the silence like a blade, carrying the weight of absolute authority.

I remained standing.

Pack law was sacred and unbreakable. A formal challenge had been declared. Witnesses surrounded us. Words had been exchanged according to tradition. What happened next would determine everything.

Vanguard made his choice.

He attacked without ceremony.

Lightning fast. rciless. No ritual declaration. No acknowledgnt of sacred protocol. He launched himself forward without warning, claws gleaming like silver daggers, his body a weapon aid directly at my throat.

The mont his claws connected, sacred law died.

My wolf exploded to the surface as I twisted desperately away from the killing blow. Razor sharp talons shredded through fabric and flesh, fire blazing across my shoulder as blood spilled hot and imdiate. The impact sent reeling backward, boots sliding through dirt as I fought to stay upright.

The clearing erupted into chaos.

Warriors shouted. Bodies surged forward on pure instinct before training snapped them back into formation. The disciplined line wavered dangerously.

"Stop."

Elena’s voice carved through the mayhem like a sword through flesh.

She erged from the shadows to my left, raw power flowing outward in crushing waves that hit the clearing and froze every moving body mid motion.

Wolves locked in place with claws half extended, muscles rigid, breath trapped in their lungs.

Damien materialized on the opposite side, flanked by two other Alphas whose combined presence struck like a physical blow. Their unified authority crashed down rcilessly, overwhelming the space Vanguard had tried to claim as his own.

Vanguard whirled toward them, rage burning openly in his eyes. "You dare interfere with pack business."

"You shattered sacred law," Damien stated coldly. "On protected pack territory. Before legitimate witnesses."

Vanguard’s warriors began to waver.

I watched the mont of realization spread through their ranks. I could see the recognition in their faces—a sense that sothing fundantal had gone wrong. Several exchanged uncertain glances. One warrior unconsciously stepped backward.

That was when Asher moved.

No warning. No hesitation.

He shifted.

The transformation was violent and unmistakable. Bones snapped and reford with wet, brutal sounds that drew gasps from the crowd. Flesh expanded, muscle surging outward, dark fur erupting across his body as his wolf burst into existence, landing between Vanguard and with earth shaking force.

His snarl rumbled low and lethal, fangs bared not as warning but as promise.

Shocked whispers rippled through the assembled pack mbers.

Public shifting was never subtle. It was a declaration written in flesh and bone. Loyalty made visible. A battle line drawn without need for words.

Vanguard stared at Asher, then shifted his gaze to , understanding clicking into place like a weapon being cocked. "You orchestrated this entire confrontation."

"Absolutely," Elena confird.

The clearing transford once again.

Hidden projectors humd to life around the periter, screens flickering into clarity as recorded evidence began to play. Images stabilized. Audio transmitted clearly across the space.

Vanguard’s own voice filled the air.

Crystal clear. Undeniable.

Orders delivered without remorse. Threats spoken casually. Executions commanded with chilling indifference.

Murmurs spread through the crowd, growing into waves of shock and disbelief.

Ruth’s testimony followed imdiately after, her voice steady and unshakeable as she laid out dates, nas, and brutal truths that could not be dismissed or explained away.

The warriors shifted restlessly. Uncertainty deepened into genuine fear. So stepped backward without conscious thought. Others looked desperately toward Vanguard, hoping he would sohow restore their shattered certainty.

Vanguard threw back his head and roared, the sound tearing from his throat raw with fury and desperation. "Kill them all."

The spell of hesitation shattered completely.

Years of conditioning overrode moral doubt. Claws erupted. Wolves launched themselves forward.

The clearing exploded into brutal warfare.

Pack against pack. Blood spilling across sacred ground.

The first collision sent shockwaves through the earth as bodies crashed together with bone crushing impact.

Howls split the air, agony and rage and terror weaving together into a sound that clawed at the soul. My wolf surged forward without restraint, eting the violence head on with savage purpose.

Steel t steel. Fangs flashed. Earth sprayed in all directions.

Asher appeared at my flank instantly, a blur of dark muscle and gleaming teeth, protecting my vulnerable side while driving attackers back with ruthless precision. Elena’s presence pressed against my awareness like an approaching storm, while Damien’s authority rang like struck tal, Alphas struggling to maintain control even as chaos consud everything around them.

This had moved far beyond any carefully laid trap.

This was open warfare.

And we were only at the beginning.
