Ye Qilan took the flowers, threw them on the ground, stomped them to pieces, and then ordered the servant to clean it up thoroughly.
Qiao Qiao glanced at Su Hongxing and snickered. Su Hongxing also felt like laughing—Ye Qilan’s simplistic and crude approach was really quite direct.
Once Su Hongxing and Qiao Qiao had walked far enough away, Ye Qilan instructed the servant, "From now on, if anyone sends deliveries, let inspect them first."
"Yes, sir," the servant responded respectfully.
Ye Qilan watched the servant’s back for a mont, distracted, before calling Age over and asking, "Did you hire this servant?"
"Yeah, is there a problem?" Age replied with a question of his own. It had been Ye Qilan who suggested hiring help to share the household chores, and Age personally selected this person, who seed pretty down-to-earth.
"I can’t fully trust them either way. Just keep a closer eye on them. If anything fishy happens, let know imdiately," Ye Qilan ordered in a calm tone.
Age, hearing this, agreed it made sense. Considering all the twists and turns in the past, caution was best—people can’t always be judged by appearance, and so are masters at disguise. Those individuals are the most frightening.
What Su Hongxing hadn’t expected was that, just as she arrived at the company, soone sent her another bouquet of apricot flowers for her to sign off on.
She searched through it but didn’t find a card, just like the apricot flowers she had received this morning at Qingmu Garden—no na was left.
"How strange! Who is it that keeps sending you apricot flowers? If your man finds out, wouldn’t he charge over here and destroy the flowers beyond recognition?" Qiao Qiao speculated before suddenly exclaiming, "Wait—could it be your man sending them?"
Soone sending flowers in the morning had undoubtedly provoked Ye Qilan, so was Ye Qilan now sending these apricot flowers as an apology to Su Hongxing?
Su Hongxing looked conflicted. "I can’t call him. Besides, I don’t think this is his doing."
If Ye Qilan learned soone had delivered flowers to her office, he would probably seethe with jealousy.
"Could it be Mo Li?" Qiao Qiao asked suddenly, struck by inspiration.
Su Hongxing shook her head. "It’s probably not him." If Mo Li had sent them, he would have added his na—that’s just how he operates.
She hadn’t been in touch with Mo Li recently, and after what happened with Lin Zhi, she didn’t want to reach out to Mo Li again, ever.
Qiao Qiao started counting on her fingers. "Do you have any other admirers? Xiao Ji, Beichuan..."
When Su Hongxing heard Beichuan’s na, her heart tightened. Could it be Beichuan sending flowers to her as a deliberate challenge to Ye Qilan?
But knowing Beichuan’s flamboyant personality, he would have left his na loud and clear. And if he were sending flowers, Beichuan would likely choose roses instead of apricot flowers.
"Forget it, let’s stop guessing and just toss them." Su Hongxing said as she threw the flowers into the trash bin.
As long as the flowers weren’t sent by Ye Qilan, she couldn’t accept them. Otherwise, Ye Qilan might feel jealous and start making a fuss. She was still sensible enough to avoid unnecessary trouble.
"Such a waste to throw them away!" Qiao Qiao muttered softly.
"I’m worried the flowers might be poisoned—it’s safer to toss them out." Su Hongxing said while glancing at her colleagues nearby. Who knew if one of them might be Ye Qilan’s spy, sent here to monitor her every move? That seed very like sothing Ye Qilan would do.
Not long after, Ye Qilan indeed called. After rambling about random topics for a while, he finally asked, "So, did anything happen after you started work today?"
Su Hongxing’s lips curled slightly. "Isn’t it just work? What could possibly happen?"
"You’re sure nothing happened?" Ye Qilan pressed on persistently.
Su Hongxing responded earnestly, "Alright, let think..." After a mont, she added, "Nothing really happened. Why? Would you prefer it if sothing did?"
