“Mo Li is quite nice, but I only see him as a friend,” she had said. “He said pursuing is his own business, and I don’t have the right to stop him from showing affection.”
Seeing Ding Ye’s expression turn sowhat gloomy, Su Hongxing knew she had misspoken and quickly shut her mouth.
Following Ding Ye into the car, Assistant Luo tried to get in too, but Ding Ye blocked him from entering.
He watched helplessly as the sedan drove away, not understanding the situation. Was Ding Ye leaving him behind to be alone with Su Hongxing?
Wasn’t Ding Ye afraid that Su Hongxing might take advantage of the situation and deal with him when no one else was around?
In the car, it was just Su Hongxing and Ding Ye. Su Hongxing was cheerful, occasionally glancing at Ding Ye’s profile.
Ding Ye, however, appeared cold and distant, seemingly having no intention of acknowledging her. She couldn’t understand why he was still pretending when there were no outsiders around.
She knew from the way he was driving that he was taking her back to her residential community. She thought to herself that this was sothing only Ye Qilan would know, as he had detailed knowledge of everything about her.
Soon after, Ding Ye dropped Su Hongxing off at her residential building.
Su Hongxing sat silently for a while, seeing that Ding Ye had no intention of speaking, and finally got out of the car.
Had she waited an hour just for him to send her ho without anything further?
She had walked a few steps away when Ding Ye suddenly called out, “Su Hongxing!”
Su Hongxing hurried back to the car window, staring intently at Ding Ye. “What do you want to tell ?”
“Don’t go out alone at night, the world isn’t safe right now,” Ding Ye said, then rolled up the window and drove away.
Su Hongxing watched the back of the car for a long ti, her lips curling slightly in disappointnt. What was all that about? She’d been excited for nothing, thinking Ye Qilan was finally going to acknowledge her.
As she turned to go upstairs, she caught sight of a familiar car nearby. Approaching it, she saw it was Mo Li.
She knocked on the car window and Mo Li rolled it down. “I was worried about you, so I waited here. I’m glad to see you’re safe. I’ll be leaving now.”
Before leaving, he added, “Su, you know Ding Ye isn’t Ye Qilan.”
“Drive safely,” Su Hongxing said and hurriedly walked away.
Mo Li sighed softly, feeling suddenly that he didn’t stand much of a chance. Su Hongxing, the woman, made no secret of her interest in Ding Ye, simply because he bore Ye Qilan’s face.
To say he wasn’t disappointed would be a lie, yet there was nothing he could do since the choice was Su Hongxing’s to make.
After Mo Li drove away, another car arrived. The man inside watched the floor where Su Hongxing’s apartnt was located, deep in thought.
Had he not co today, he wouldn’t have known that another Ye Qilan had appeared. It was a careless oversight on his part.
The next day, as soon as Ding Ye arrived at work, he was approached by a professional-looking woman: “Mr. Ding, hello, I am Du Qingyu from the Ye Family, assigned to liaise with your company. It’s a pleasure to et you.”
Du Qingyu smiled gracefully, charming but not overly so, and her deanor was confident.
Ding Ye, however, seed not to notice Du Qingyu’s refined appearance and simply nodded coldly, instructing Assistant Luo, “Take Ms. Du to the eting room. I’ll join you when I’m free.”
With that, he strode into his office.
Du Qingyu watched Ding Ye’s tall figure, curiously asking, “Is Mr. Ding always this aloof?”
“Mr. Ding isn’t fond of talking; he has always been like this,” Assistant Luo led the way. “Ms. Du, this way, please. By the way, wasn’t Miss Su the person in charge from your company? Why the change today?”
