Satomi-sensei’s grip on Akira’s arm was surprisingly strong as she guided him down the hallway. "My office. Now."

Her voice had lost its usual professional warmth. It was cold, commanding, and left no room for argunt.

Akira glanced back toward the gymnasium entrance where students were still milling about. He caught sight of Ayaka and Rina disappearing around the corner, both still flushed and trembling from essence overload.

"Sensei, I need to..."

"You need to co with ," Satomi interrupted. "Before soone notices the residual energy clinging to you."

They walked in tense silence through nearly empty corridors. When they reached her office, Satomi unlocked the door and shoved Akira inside before slamming it shut and twisting the lock.

The mont the door closed, pink energy flared around her body. Her brown eyes lit up, glowing with that sa pulsing light he’d seen earlier. Her succubus nature, which she had been hiding so well, now radiated without restraint.

Before Akira could react, she grabbed his shoulders and slamd him against the wall. Books rattled on the shelves. A frad diploma crashed to the floor.

"Who are you?" she demanded, her face inches from his. "What are you? Why are you here?"

Akira t her glowing eyes calmly. "I could ask you the sa thing, Sensei."

"Don’t play gas. I’ve been hiding here for over ten years. Then you show up, and suddenly there’s a Grade-S corruption event, a pocket dinsion, and enough demonic essence to attract every exorcist in the region."

Her pink aura pulsed hotter. "You’re a Demon Lord. I felt your power when you activated that Domain. Answer before I decide you’re a threat."

"You could try," Akira said quietly.

Satomi’s expression darkened. "Cocky for soone pinned to a wall."

"And you’re playing elder succubus very well. But we both know you’re terrified. Not just of , ut also of being exposed."

She flinched.

Akira took a breath and channeled power into his aura. Golden light flickered around his body. The air in the office beca thick with a dominance that made Satomi’s pink energy seem like a candle next to a bonfire.

"You want to know who I am?" Akira asked softly. "Let show you."

He activated Aura of Dominance.

The effect was imdiate. Satomi’s eyes widened, her pink aura sputtering. Her knees buckled, and she stumbled backward, releasing him.

"That’s... impossible," she whispered, clutching her desk for support. "You’re a student. How can you have that kind of power?"

"Sit down, Sensei," Akira said, his voice carrying supernatural weight. "Before you fall down."

She collapsed into her desk chair, breathing hard. When she looked up at him, it wasn’t with anger anymore. It was with fear.

"I won’t hurt you," Akira said, letting the Aura fade. "I’m not your enemy. I closed that Gate. I saved those students. And I have no intention of exposing you."

Satomi stared at him for a long mont. Then her shoulders sagged as the tension drained away.

"You’re right," she admitted quietly. "I am terrified. The Silver Hand doesn’t exile demons who’ve been living among humans. They purify us. Complete dissolution of our essence."

"Then why risk it?" Akira asked. "Why live here as a teacher?"

Satomi looked away. "Because I can’t go back."

Akira wanted to ask what she ant by that, but didn’t see the need to interrupt as Satomi-san continued.

"Ten years ago, I made a choice that marked as tainted, so I’m kinda stuck here."

"What choice?"

"I fell in love with a human." Her voice cracked. "His na was Takeshi. He was an architect. He saw feeding one night in Roppongi, and instead of running, he... talked to ."

She smiled faintly. "We talked for hours that first night. About art, about loneliness, about existing between two worlds. And then we kept talking. Days turned into weeks. Weeks into months."

"You bonded with him," Akira said.

"Completely. I gave him my true na, tied my essence to his life force. For two years, we were together. I was happier than I’d been in centuries." She swallowed hard. "I even considered asking him to beco my permanent partner."

"What happened?"

"Cancer. Aggressive, fast-spreading. He lasted six months." She touched her chest. "And when he died... part of died with him. The bond broke, but the taint remained. To other demons, I sll of death and human attachnt. They consider corrupted, unworthy."

Akira felt sympathy. "So you hid here."

"Yes. I created a human identity, got teaching credentials, and disappeared. I feed passively, just enough to survive. And it worked." She looked at him. "For almost a decade, it worked perfectly. Until today."

"The Gate wasn’t my doing," Akira said. "I was trying to stop it."

"I know. I felt the signature when it opened. Which brings to my next point." Satomi stood up, her professional composure returning. "What happened today, the Gate, the painting... that wasn’t random."

Akira stopped. "What do you an?"

"I an soone opened that Gate deliberately," Satomi said. "Soone with considerable power and skill. The energy signature..." She looked genuinely worried. "I recognize it. From years ago, before I ca to this school."

"Who?"

"Valerius," Satomi said quietly. "A rogue Incubus Lord who creates Gates for his own purposes. Feeding, experinting, corrupting entire populations for entertainnt. He’s been quiet for years, but if he’s active in this city again..." She t Akira’s eyes. "The painting won’t be the last incident."

Before Akira could respond, Satomi moved closer. Too close. He could feel heat radiating from her body, the pink glow returning to her eyes.

"You saved my secret today," she said softly. "By closing that Gate before the SPIU could investigate thoroughly. I owe you a debt."

"Sensei, you don’t..."

"In demon culture, debts are serious, Kanzaki-kun." Her hand touched his chest. "And I always pay my debts."

The pink energy around her pulsed stronger. Like Ayaka and Rina, she was still suffering from having absorbed too much essence earlier, having been overloaded with the corruption coming from the Gate.

"You’re still intoxicated," Akira said.

"Yes," Satomi admitted, her other hand sliding to his shoulder. "Which is why you should probably leave before I do sothing inappropriate." But she leaned closer, her warm breath grazing his neck. "Or you could stay. Help burn off this excess energy."

"Sensei..."

She kissed his neck, light and teasing. "I’ve been teaching you for a while now, Akira-kun. Did you never wonder why I always seed so attentive?"

"I thought you were just being a good teacher."

"I was." Another kiss, slightly lower. "But I also noticed sothing about you."

Akira’s hands moved to her waist, intending to push her away gently. But the mont he touched her, she gasped and her whole body shuddered.

"Don’t," she whispered desperately. "Don’t be gentle. If you’re going to reject , do it quickly. But if you’re going to help ..."

Just then, a sharp knock on the door interrupted them.

Satomi quickly pulled away, her professional look snapping into place so fast that Akira was shocked. The pink glow vanished.

"Yes?" she called out in a perfectly steady voice.

"Satomi-sensei?" It was Sakura’s voice. "Agent Sato from SPIU wants to speak with you. And Principal Yamamoto is assembling everyone."

Satomi straightened her blazer. "Tell them I’ll be right there." She looked at Akira. "Kanzaki-kun, you should head to the assembly."

As he moved toward the door, Satomi caught his wrist. "This conversation isn’t over. We’ll talk more. About Valerius, the Gates, and debts."

Then she released him and opened the door.

Sakura stood in the hallway. "Kanzaki-kun. I didn’t realize you were here."

"Just getting clarification about festival cleanup duties," Akira lied.

"I see. Follow . Both of you."

They encountered Agent Sato in the hallway.

"Ah, Ms. Satomi," he said. "I have a few questions about the tiline. You were supervising the art exhibit?"

"Yes," Satomi replied smoothly. "I was making my rounds when the incident occurred."

"And you noticed nothing unusual about the painting beforehand?"

"I’m a literature teacher, Agent Sato. Not a specialist in whatever it is you do. To , it was just a well-executed forest landscape."

Agent Sato studied her face, then nodded. "Thank you for your cooperation."

As he walked away, Satomi exhaled slowly. "That was closer than I’d like."

They continued to the courtyard where Principal Yamamoto was assembling the student body. Teachers directed confused students into groups. Festival decorations still hung everywhere, a cheerful mockery of the chaos.

Akira spotted Aoi near the dical tent. She was sitting on a folding chair, wrapped in a blanket. Paradics were checking her vital signs, but she looked more coherent.

"Excuse ," Akira said to Satomi and Sakura.

He approached the tent. Aoi looked up as he got closer, relief flooding her face.

"Akira-kun," she said, her voice hoarse. "They told you saved . I don’t rember much, but... thank you."

"How are you feeling?"

"Exhausted. Confused. The paradics said I’m fine physically, but..." She shook her head. "I keep having these strange flashes. Of trees that whispered, and shadows that had faces, and this woman made of colors who wanted to paint into her world forever."

One of the paradics patted Aoi’s shoulder. "Psychological trauma is normal after supernatural exposure. We’ve contacted your guardian."

Principal Yamamoto’s voice bood across the courtyard.

"Students, faculty, please give your attention."

The crowd quieted as Principal Yamamoto began.

"Today, we experienced an unprecedented incident. Thanks to quick action, casualties were prevented. I’m making the following announcents."

She paused.

"First, the cultural festival will resu tomorrow as scheduled. Second, SPIU agents will remain on campus for seventy-two hours. Third, any student experiencing unusual symptoms should report to the dical office imdiately."

Murmurs rippled through the crowd.

"I know many of you are frightened. But this school has stood for eighty years. We’ve weathered wars, disasters, and lab incidents. We are strong. We will get through this together."

She lowered the gaphone. "Classes are cancelled today. Tomorrow, we celebrate. Show the world that Kawakami High cannot be broken."

Students began dispersing, many glancing over their shoulders.

A hand touched his arm. He turned to find i-san standing there, looking worried.

"Akira-kun," she said breathlessly. "I just heard. Are you alright? Where’s Rina? And Mia?"

"I’m fine, i-san. Rina went ho. She wasn’t feeling well."

"The news said there was a gas accident or sothing. That students were hurt." i-san’s eyes were wide with fear. "When I couldn’t reach any of you, I drove straight here."

"We’re okay," Akira assured her. "Just shaken up."

i-san pulled him into a sudden, fierce hug. "Don’t scare like that. You’re..." She stopped herself, pulling back. "Just be more careful. Please."

As i-san went to find Mia, a notification appeared in Akira’s vision.

[SYSTEM ALERT: CORRUPTION RESIDUE DETECTED]

[SOURCE: VALERIUS ENERGY SIGNATURE]

[RECOMNDATION: IMDIATE INVESTIGATION REQUIRED]

"Darling," Ai’s voice echoed in his mind. "That signature Satomi ntioned? I’m detecting traces all over the school. Not just the café. The gym, the courtyard, even the faculty offices."

"What are you saying?"

"Soone planted corruption seeds throughout the entire festival. The painting was just the trigger. If we don’t find and neutralize those seeds before tomorrow, when hundreds of students pack these grounds again..." She paused. "Whatever Valerius planned, it will make today look like a warm-up."

He looked around the courtyard at the dispersing students, at the teachers trying to maintain calm, at the SPIU agents conducting their investigation.

None of them knew what was really coming.

Akira clenched his fists, golden energy flickering briefly before he suppressed it.

"Ai, start scanning for those corruption seeds. Map every location."

"Already on it. But there’s sothing else you should know."

"What?"

"One of the SPIU agents has been watching you for the past five minutes. Female, late twenties, standing by the east entrance. She hasn’t moved, hasn’t looked away."

Akira didn’t turn his head. Instead, he used his peripheral vision to locate the woman.

She was partially hidden behind a pillar. Dark suit, shoulder-length black hair, and eyes that tracked his every movent with unsettling precision.

As if sensing his awareness, she smiled. Then she pulled sothing from her jacket... a silver talisman, identical to the ones Aya carried.

The woman touched it to her lips, then pointed it directly at him before turning and walking away.

"Darling," Ai said urgently. "That was a tracking marker. She just tagged you—"

"I know," Akira interrupted. "The Silver Hand. They’re here."
