This young girl, I’ve eaten more salt than you’ve eaten rice. Si Mingjing is a well-read future star of the traditional Chinese dical community; how could I allow you to slander her? Academician Li thought.
Although Si Mingjing was not Academician Li’s student, the academician was fiercely protective of future talents in the traditional Chinese dicine field!
Everyone cherishes talent, and Lin Xiansi’s words were tantamount to making an enemy of the entire dical community!
Old Madam Lin also looked at Lin Xiansi. Academician Li’s words were a revelation to Old Madam Lin, and she stared at Lin Xiansi in shock.
"You child! Was your concern for all fake? You don’t actually believe in that girl’s dical skills, yet you strongly encouraged her to treat ? You were using , an old woman, as a pawn! You ungrateful wretch! I really raised an ungrateful wretch!" Old Madam Lin was furious.
Lin Xiansi panicked. "Grandma, I didn’t."
"No need to say more! Do you think I’m senile?"
The reality hit Old Madam Lin, and a chilling realization dawned on her. If Si Mingjing’s dical skills were only half-baked, and Xiansi still pushed to take her dicine, she was gambling with my health! When one gets old, health is the biggest concern. Lin Xiansi clearly didn’t take my health seriously! Old Madam Lin was absolutely livid!
"Get out!" Old Madam Lin raged. "And don’t call Grandma anymore! I am not your grandma. My only true granddaughter is Lin Xia!"
Old Madam Lin had only one son, Lin Hanfeng. Lin Xiansi was the granddaughter of Old Madam Lin’s husband’s younger brother—and an illegitimate child at that! Years ago, Master Huixian had read the Lin Family’s fortune, stating that their destiny lacked a female presence. If a baby girl was born, the Lin Family would ascend to greater heights; without one, they would decline. The late Old Master Lin, Old Madam Lin’s father-in-law and the forr head of the Lin Family, firmly believed this. However, at the ti, none of the Lin Family branches were producing girls, only boys. The late Old Master Lin grew desperate. Thus, even Lin Xiansi, an illegitimate girl, was brought into the family and doted upon. Otherwise, how could an illegitimate daughter like Lin Xiansi have beco the esteed young lady of the Lin Family?
Later, Lin Hanfeng’s wife gave birth to a daughter, Lin Xia. She was the Lin Family’s true and legitimate young lady, Old Madam Lin’s cherished biological granddaughter!
Lin Xiansi’s face turned deathly pale. Her malicious intentions had been exposed, and overwheld with embarrassnt, she burst into tears and fled.
Lin Hanfeng approached his mother to comfort her. "Mom, please don’t be angry. Since she’s the doctor treating my wife, there shouldn’t be any problem. Academician Li also said it’s fine. Your face will stop swelling soon."
Old Madam Lin nodded. "I was fortunate this ti, but that doesn’t an Xiansi didn’t have malicious intent. I’m so disappointed in her!"
Sure enough, an hour later, the swelling in her throat and face had subsided. Her breathing beca easy, and her mood improved trendously. In the future, within her circle of affluent elderly friends, she would enthusiastically praise Si Mingjing’s dical skills to everyone she t, greatly enhancing her reputation—but that is a story for another ti.
anwhile, Ye Xinguang received a phone call from Lin Hanfeng’s wife. Over the phone, she said, "My mother-in-law’s swelling has gone down. She praised Mingjing to the skies in front of and said she wants to thank Mingjing generously with a gift soon."
"Really?" Ye Xinguang felt a surge of pride. "With talent like hers, it’s hard not to sound like we’re bragging, even if we try to be modest."
Lin Hanfeng’s wife also ntioned that Old Madam Lin had severely scolded Lin Xiansi, which made Ye Xinguang feel even more pleased.
"Your mother-in-law is still sharp," Ye Xinguang remarked.
Lin Hanfeng’s wife continued, "It was Academician Li from the Traditional dicine Research Institute who exposed Lin Xiansi’s sche. He praised Mingjing profusely, calling her the rising star of the traditional Chinese dicine community."
This was a significant favor. Lin Hanfeng’s wife inford Ye Xinguang, who then relayed it to Si Mingjing, telling her to rember it. Si Mingjing nodded, taking note.
Then, they got out of the car and arrived at the address Si Lisao had given them. It was in the suburbs; the drive had taken over an hour. Before them lay a quiet bamboo grove. Deep within it stood a two-story modern wooden villa. The entire structure featured floor-to-ceiling glass, providing excellent natural light. The decor was incredibly luxurious, with everything crafted from the finest quality wood. There was even a steaming hot spring pool in the yard. Such a woodland villa was truly desirable, a perfect spot for a relaxing getaway.
However, as Si Mingjing and Ye Xinguang stood at the yard entrance, they heard the heart-wrenching sobs of a young girl coming from inside the wooden house. The sound of her crying tugged at Si Mingjing’s heart.
Ye Xinguang found the doorbell. She pressed it a couple of tis, asking as she did, "Who’s crying? Could it be Liangliang?"
Si Mingjing didn’t know.
A man walked out from the wooden villa. He had a refined and elegant deanor and was dressed in a black sweater and beige casual trousers. The outfit not only made him look tall and slim but also accentuated his elegance. He looked like a character straight out of a manga, his gold-frad glasses adding a scholarly touch to his appearance. It was Qu Liushang.
Tall and imposing, he erged from the wooden house. Upon seeing Ye Xinguang waiting outside the gate, he appeared slightly surprised and walked over elegantly to let them in.
"Your Majesty, what brings you here?" Qu Liushang, the deposed Crown Prince of Gendaya Country, greeted Ye Xinguang with the formal etiquette required between their respective nations.
Ye Xinguang replied, "I’ve co to get Liangliang. Is that her crying?"
Mo Yinhe had already secured legal custody of Sheng Liangliang, but Sheng Liuyun was unwilling to hand over the child. Si Lisao had managed to distract Sheng Liuyun, giving Si Mingjing the address so she could co and retrieve Liangliang.
Qu Liushang shared Si Lisao’s stance; they wanted to get Sheng Liangliang inside the Ye Family.
Qu Liushang opened the gate and let them in. "Miss Si, you’ve arrived just in ti. Liangliang caught a chill last night and developed a high fever. Her uncle had to leave unexpectedly, and I was at a loss about what to do."
"What? Liangliang has a fever?" Ye Xinguang quickened her pace.
Si Mingjing followed her in and saw Liangliang sitting listlessly on the living room sofa, her eyes brimming with tears. Just then, Liangliang suddenly vomited all over herself...
Witnessing the scene, Ye Xinguang’s heart ached. She hurried over and cradled Liangliang in her arms.
Sheng Liangliang didn’t recognize Ye Xinguang and resisted being held. She cried even more fiercely, stretching out her small arms toward Si Mingjing, wanting her embrace. Ye Xinguang quickly handed the child to Si Mingjing, recognizing the profound bond between mother and daughter.
"Mingjing, take her pulse. I’ll go find so clean clothes for Liangliang so we can change her out of these soiled ones."
"Alright."
Si Mingjing took the sick child, gently soothing her while checking her pulse.
Qu Liushang led Ye Xinguang to find clean clothes. By the ti Ye Xinguang returned with them, Si Mingjing had already finished checking Liangliang’s pulse.
"She’s been afflicted by pathogenic cold; she caught a chill. Traditional Chinese dicine is bitter and takes ti to prepare and take effect. Let’s take her back with us first. On the way, we can buy so cooling patches for fever reduction as a physical asure. If her temperature doesn’t decrease within two hours, we’ll give her antipyretic dicine."
"Okay," Ye Xinguang agreed.
They changed Liangliang into a clean jacket and, holding her, prepared to leave.
