Gu Ningyi’s hand unconsciously clenched again, and the force was so great that Dong Xin Yan couldn’t help but let out a cry of pain.
Gu Ningyi snapped back to reality as his dark eyes took in Dong Xin Yan’s face, scrunched up in pain. He then realized he had hurt her, and his hand stiffened slightly before slowly releasing and falling.
Instinctively, Dong Xin Yan took two steps back, creating a distance between her and Gu Ningyi. Her shoulder throbbed with pain. She wanted to rub it, but seeing Gu Ningyi’s expression, she held back.
Gu Ningyi said nothing. Dong Xin Yan, seeing his expression, didn’t dare to speak either. Both were silent, and the atmosphere gradually beca stagnant.
It wasn’t until Dong Xin Yan slled a burnt odor that she furrowed her brow, suddenly rembering she was in the middle of frying beef... Oh god!
Imdiately, she turned around to salvage her beef.

Yet, oddly enough, he felt so much familiarity with her.
This didn’t make any sense, did it?
Although Dong Xin Yan didn’t show any signs of lying earlier, could it be possible that she was acting?
She is an actress, after all, isn’t she?
Maybe she’s lying!
With this sliver of faint hope, Gu Ningyi grasped his hand tightly, then picked up the phone and quickly dialed a number.

As Boss Gu’s chief secretary, high efficiency was a must. Yesterday noon, the Boss called her, asking her to investigate everything about Dong Xin Yan during the year she turned eighteen, down to the smallest detail.
So, the next morning, Secretary Lin placed the thoroughly investigated file neatly in the center of the desk.
As soon as Gu Ningyi returned to the office, he saw the file.
He took off his suit jacket and hung it up, walked to the desk, lightly tapping the file with his fingers, but didn’t imdiately open it.
His heart was, surprisingly, a bit trembling and uneasy.
He didn’t know what the investigation result would be...
Will it be as Dong Xin Yan said, or... could she have lied?
Gu Ningyi looked at the file, several tis wanting to open it, but each ti, as his hand was about to open the file, it was as if his strength gave way instantly, and he couldn’t open it.

Secretary Lin was standing three steps away, holding a file, with her hand making a fist against her lips, and that light cough was from her.
To be honest, she didn’t want to disturb the Boss either, but ever since he entered the office, Boss had been standing there staring at the file in a daze. Watching his hand about to open the file but sohow not doing it, just stuck there, she was on edge just watching him.
