Tang Xue i smiled through her tears, watching as her father softly caressed Shenhua’s tiny hand. She took a deep breath, her heart feeling light for the first ti in so long. Gently, she stepped back, giving Su Huiying a mont alone with her husband.
"Dad," she said softly, glancing at the others in the room. "I want to introduce you to a few important people."
Tang Zijun’s tired eyes shifted, following her gaze. Tang Xue i walked to where Xia Yuya was and held her hand gently.
"Dad...this is my mother-in-law," Xue i said with a warm smile. "She’s Feng Shihan’s mother. She’s been such a big help with everything, especially with the twins."
Xia Yuya, patted Tang Xue i’s hands gently, as she smiled softly, bowing her head slightly. "It’s an honor to finally et you, Mr. Tang. I’ve heard so much about you, and I’m so happy to see you awake and well."
Tang Zijun nodded weakly, his voice raspy but filled with gratitude. "Thank you... for taking care of my daughter."
Xia Yuya smiled, her eyes soft. "They’re wonderful. It’s a joy to be part of their lives."
"And this," Tang Xue i continued, her tone brightening as she gestured toward the kind older woman standing quietly in the background, "is Auntie Gu. She’s been with us for years, helping with the house and taking care of , Shihan... and now the twins."
Auntie Gu, her hands folded in front of her, stepped forward with a smile. "Master Tang, it’s such a relief to see you awake. I’ve been praying for this day for a long ti."
Tang Zijun smiled, his expression touched by their warmth. "Thank you... all of you."
Tang Xue i felt a lump in her throat as she watched her father speak to the won who had supported her during such difficult tis. But now, there was one more thing she had to do. She needed to share the good news with the people who hadn’t yet heard.
Excusing herself, Tang Xue i stepped out of the room and pulled out her phone. Her fingers hovered over the contacts for a mont before she dialed Feng Shihan’s number. As the phone rang, her heart raced, knowing how excited he would be to hear this.
"Xue i?" Feng Shihan’s deep voice answered on the second ring, concern evident in his tone. "Everything okay?"
A smile spread across her face, tears threatening to spill over again. "Shihan, he’s awake. My dad’s awake."
There was a pause on the other end, followed by a sharp intake of breath. "What? He’s... awake?" Feng Shihan’s voice was filled with disbelief, and then a low chuckle of relief. "That’s incredible, i. I... I don’t even know what to say."
Tears spilled down her cheeks as she nodded, even though he couldn’t see. "I know. I can’t believe it either. You should co by after work. He wants to et you properly this ti."
"I’ll head over right now," Feng Shihan promised, his voice filled with emotion. "I’ll be there soon."
After hanging up with Feng Shihan, Tang Xue i wiped her tears and scrolled to another number—her sister.
She knew she’d be busy taking care of little Jaehyun , but this was the news she needed to hear.
"ii?" Tang Can’s voice ca through the phone, sounding as tired as ever. "What’s up?"
"Can, can," Tang Xue i said softly, her voice shaking with joy. "Dad’s awake."
For a mont, there was complete silence. Tang Can didn’t speak, and Xue i wondered if she had heard her correctly.
"Can?" she asked again, worried.
"ii," Tang Can’s voice finally ca through, low and filled with disbelief. "Dad’s awake?"
"Yes," she whispered, feeling the tears in her throat again. "He’s really awake. He... he’s talking, Can. You need to co to the hospital."
There was a long pause, and then a soft sound, almost like a sigh of relief. "I’ll be there as soon as I can. I’ll bring Jaehyun and Xu Cai along."
Tang Xue i walked back into the hospital room, where her father was resting, his eyes closed but with a peaceful expression on his face. Su Huiying was sitting beside him, gently holding his hand, while Xia Yuya and Auntie Gu quietly chatted in the corner, giving the family so space. The twins were sound asleep in their carriers, blissfully unaware of the emotional day their mother and grandparents were experiencing.
As Xue i approached the bed, her father opened his eyes slowly, his gaze soft as it landed on her.
"You’ve done well," Tang Zijun said quietly, his voice still weak but full of emotion. "I’m sorry I couldn’t be there... but I’m so proud of you, ii."
Tears filled her eyes again as she bent down to kiss his forehead. "Dad, you’ve always been with us. Don’t worry about anything. Just focus on getting better."
Tang Zijun smiled faintly, his hand reaching for hers. "You’ve built a beautiful family. And these little ones..." He glanced at the twins, his eyes softening. "They’re perfect."
"They are," Xue i agreed, glancing over at Shenhua and Sheni. "I wanted you to et them properly. They’ll get to know their grandfather soon."
As they sat together in silence, the door to the room quietly opened. Tang Xue i looked up to see Feng Shihan entering, his expression was warm as his eyes landed on her father. He quickly made his way over, bowing his head slightly in respect.
"Dad," Feng Shihan greeted softly. "It’s an honor to finally et you. I’ve been looking forward to this mont for a long ti."
Tang Zijun nodded, his tired eyes looking at Feng Shihan with gratitude. "Feng Shihan, though we’ve never t in person. I can tell how much my daughter loves you. You’ve taken care of my daughter, and now you’re a father to my grandchildren. I’ve nothing more to ask than for you to keep loving and protecting her, and these little ones."
Feng Shihan smiled gently, his hand resting on around Xue i’s waist. "I don’t deserve your daughter, but I’m glad to have caught her eyes. I’ll continue to love her because she’s my everything and protect, care for them because she has given everything."
Awwww
Tang Xue i’s heart swelled with warmth as she watched the two most important n in her life share this mont. Her father’s health was still fragile, but the hope that had been reignited today filled the room with a sense of peace she hadn’t felt in a long ti.
Just as they were all basking in the joy of the reunion, the door opened again, and Tang Can rushed in. Her eyes were wide with disbelief, and she froze for a mont as he saw his father awake, sitting up in bed.
"Dad..." Tang Can whispered, her voice cracking.
Tang Zijun’s face lit up with a smile as his son approached the bed. "Can, co here!."
Tang Can quickly crossed the room and gently embraced her father, her shoulders shaking as she held back tears. "I thought... I thought we lost you."
"I’m here," Tang Zijun said softly, patting his son’s back. "And I’ll be here for as long as I can."
