As Tang Xue i was admiring the twins in their cute bear onesies, the sound of the doorbell echoed through the house. Auntie Gu, still holding Shenhua, raised an eyebrow. "Looks like we’ve got company."
Tang Xue i smiled, knowing exactly who it was. "That should be our mothers. They’re coming to see the twins."
Auntie Gu nodded, heading toward the door as Tang Xue i cradled Sheni, who was starting to drift off in her arms. When Auntie Gu opened the door, Su Huiying and Xia Yuya stepped inside, their eyes imdiately lighting up with excitent.
"Oh my goodness!" Su Huiying gasped, rushing forward as soon as she spotted the twins. "Look at them! They’re so adorable!"
"They look like little bear cubs!" Xia Yuya added, her voice filled with warmth and joy. She reached out to gently touch Shenhua’s cheek, who blinked up at her with wide eyes.
Tang Xue i chuckled, shifting Sheni in her arms so her mother could get a better look. "We just gave them a bath, and Auntie Gu found these adorable onesies. I couldn’t resist."
"They’re perfect!" Su Huiying cooed, her fingers lightly brushing Sheni’s fuzzy hood. "You always had a good eye for cute things, Xue i."
Xia Yuya laughed, gently lifting Shenhua out of Auntie Gu’s arms. "I can’t believe how fast they’re growing. Soon they’ll be running around causing trouble."
"They’re already causing plenty," Tang Xue i said with a grin. "Bath ti is a whole event with these two."
Su Huiying smiled warmly, taking a seat next to her daughter. "Well, you’re doing an amazing job with them, sweetie. And these little bear outfits... I think we need more photos. Let’s make sure their daddy doesn’t miss a thing!"
Xia Yuya chuckled, bouncing Shenhua gently in her arms. "I agree. The more pictures, the better! He’ll want to rember every mont."
Tang Xue i couldn’t agree more. It was monts like these that she wanted to cherish forever.
As Tang Xue i balanced Sheni in one arm and answered the call, she heard the familiar voice of Dr. Jeong, on the other end.
"Ms. Tang, this is Dr. Jeong. I have so important news for you regarding your father."
Tang Xue i’s heart skipped a beat, her grip tightening on the phone. "Dr. Jeong, what is it? Is sothing wrong?"
There was a brief pause before Dr. Jeong spoke, his tone gentle yet firm. "Your father... he’s woken up. After being in a vegetative coma for exactly 365 days, he’s regained consciousness."
For a mont, Tang Xue i couldn’t speak. Her mind struggled to process the words. "He... he’s awake?" she whispered, her voice shaking.
"Yes, it’s a miracle," Dr. Jeong confird. "He’s still very weak, but he’s responsive. I thought you’d want to co down as soon as possible."
Tang Xue i’s world spun, emotions crashing over her like a wave. Tears welled in her eyes as she glanced down at the twins, Sheni still smiling in her arms, completely unaware of the montous news.
"I-I’ll be there right away," she managed to say, her voice barely holding together. "Thank you, Dr. Jeong. Thank you so much."
After hanging up, Tang Xue i stood frozen for a mont, the weight of the news settling in. Her father—after so long in a coma—was finally awake.
Tang Xue i’s breath hitched as she processed the news, then imdiately turned to her mother, Su Huiying, who was standing nearby holding Shenhua.
"Mom... the hospital just called," she said, her voice trembling with emotion. "Dad... he’s woken up from his coma."
Su Huiying froze, her eyes widening in disbelief. "What...?" she whispered, her voice breaking as her hand flew to her mouth. She stood there, stunned, as tears welled up in her eyes.
"He’s awake," Tang Xue i repeated, tears of joy starting to blur her vision as well. "Dad’s awake. We need to go see him, right now."
For a mont, Su Huiying was silent, unable to speak as emotions overwheld her. Then, with a shaky breath, she nodded, tears streaming down her cheeks. "Let’s go... let’s go right now," she whispered, her voice cracking with happiness.
Xia Yuya, Feng Shihan’s mother, who had been holding Sheni, imdiately caught on to the gravity of the mont and stepped forward, her own eyes filling with tears of joy. "We’ll all go," she said softly. "He needs to see all of you."
Tang Xue i looked at the twins, a new sense of urgency filling her heart. "Yes, I want him to see them... to et his grandchildren."
Within minutes, they were ready to leave, the twins bundled up and everyone moving with a shared purpose. Auntie Gu helped with the last-minute preparations, quickly packing a diaper bag for the babies as the family hurried out the door.
The drive to the hospital was a blur of emotions. Tang Xue i held Sheni close to her chest, trying to calm her racing heart as she imagined seeing her father awake after all this ti. Su Huiying sat silently beside her, holding Shenhua, tears still running down her cheeks as she clutched her grandson like a lifeline.
They arrived at the hospital, and Dr. Jeong was already waiting for them at the entrance, his expression filled with warmth and understanding. "He’s been asking for you, Ms. Tang," he said softly, nodding toward the elevator. "He’s still a bit weak, but he’s conscious and responsive. This is nothing short of a miracle."
Tang Xue i nodded, her heart pounding in her chest as they made their way up to her father’s room. As the elevator doors opened, she felt a rush of emotions—hope, relief, and nervousness all at once.
When they entered the room, her father, Tang Zijun, laid in the hospital bed, looking frail but very much awake. His eyes, once dull from the long coma, now shone with recognition and warmth as they landed on Tang Xue i and the rest of his family.
"Daddy..." Tang Xue i whispered, her voice breaking as she stepped forward, tears spilling over as she approached his bedside.
Tang Zijun’s on lips trembled into a small smile, his voice weak but filled with love. "Xue i... daddy’s been dreaming about you, you told you had sothing to show , you looked very sad. I just had to see my little girl who’s not so little anymore and my darling wife."
Tang Xue i bit her lip to keep from crying too hard, then gently placed Sheni in her father’s arms. "Dad, this is Sheni... your granddaughter," she said softly, her voice thick with emotion. "And this... is Shenhua, your grandson." She motioned to her mother, who carefully handed Shenhua to him as well.
Tang Zijun looked down at the twins in awe, tears filling his eyes as he gently touched their tiny faces. "They’re beautiful..." he whispered, his voice choked with emotion. "My grandchildren... I never thought... I’d live to see them. They look just like that young man, why couldn’t they resemble my Xue i."
Su Huiying knelt by the bed, clutching her husband’s hand tightly, tears streaming down her face. "I never gave up on you," she whispered. "I knew you’d co back to us."
"Huiying, if I could take back every single tear you shed for ....ive missed you so much, thank you for taking care of our daughters.."
The room was filled with the sound of quiet sobs, the family overwheld with joy and relief as they reunited with the man they had thought they’d lost forever. Tang Xue i gently brushed her father’s hair back, her heart full as she watched him cradle the twins.
"We’ve missed you so much, Dad," she whispered. "And now you’re here... and you’re going to be okay."
