Tang Xue i smiled warmly at Leia, her hand resting gently on her friend’s shoulder. "You don’t have to apologize. I’m just happy you’re here now."
Leia grinned as she adjusted her wheelchair, moving closer to the twins, her eyes filled with admiration. "Look at these little angels. Shenhua and Sheni, right? You’ve got your hands full now."
Tang Xue i laughed, nodding. "Yes, they’re already a handful, but I wouldn’t have it any other way."
Feng Shihan joined them, handing Shenhua to Tang Xue i while he gave Leia a light pat on the shoulder. "Leia, we’ll get you back on your feet soon enough. In the anti, you can help us spoil these two."
Leia chuckled, shaking her head. "I’m looking forward to it. They’re going to be so loved."
Auntie Gu ca bustling back with a tray of freshly prepared food, a satisfied smile on her face. "Madam, I’ve prepared a light al with all the nutrients you need. I know you wanted sothing more exciting, but this will help you recover faster."
Tang Xue i looked at the carefully prepared dishes—stead fish, vegetables, and a light broth. It wasn’t hotpot, but it looked delicious and comforting.
"Thank you, Auntie Gu. This looks perfect," Tang Xue i said, feeling touched by the effort and care put into the al.
As the evening unfolded, the house was filled with warmth and laughter. The twins, now nestled comfortably in their bassinets, drew the attention of everyone as they dozed off peacefully. Tang Xue i felt a sense of peace wash over her despite the lingering concerns about Ye Chen Ling. For the first ti in days, she felt at ease now that she was finally in the comfort of her ho.
Feng Shihan stood beside her, his arm around her shoulders as they watched their family and friends gather around. He leaned in close, his voice soft. "We’ve made it through the hardest part. Now we just have to keep moving forward."
Tang Xue i nodded, resting her head on his shoulder. "As long as we’re together, we’ll be okay."
As the night deepened, the peaceful quietness of the house was suddenly shattered by the piercing cries from Shenhua, his tiny wail cutting through the silence. Tang Xue i bolted upright in bed, her heart racing as the sound imdiately put her on edge. Before she could even react, Sheni’s cry followed, creating a chaotic lody that filled the entire room.
Tang Xue i groaned softly and rubbed her eyes, already feeling the exhaustion weigh on her. Feng Shihan, who had barely dozed off, sat up beside her, he looked at the ti it was barely 11pm.
"What’s going on?" Tang Xue i whispered, swinging her legs off the bed. "They were fine just a few hours ago."
"They’re probably just unsettled from the move," Feng Shihan said, though he sounded just as tired as she did. He got up quickly and headed to the bassinet where Shenhua was already flailing his tiny arms in protest.
Tang Xue i joined him, picking up Sheni, who was crying even harder. She gently bounced her daughter, trying to soothe her. "Shhh, it’s okay, baby. Mummy’s here."
Feng Shihan cradled Shenhua, gently patting his back, but the baby’s cries only seed to grow louder. Tang Xue i glanced at him, her brow furrowing in worry. "Why won’t they calm down?"
"I don’t know," Feng Shihan replied, his voice tense with frustration. "Maybe they’re still adjusting to being ho."
Tang Xue i bit her lip, pacing around the room with Sheni in her arms. "What if sothing’s wrong? What if they’re uncomfortable or sick?"
Just then, Auntie Gu knocked softly on the door before poking her head inside. "I heard the little ones crying," she said with concern, stepping in. "Is everything alright?"
"We’re not sure," Tang Xue i admitted, glancing at Auntie Gu helplessly. "We’ve tried feeding them, but they’re not hungry."
Auntie Gu moved closer and gently stroked Sheni’s back as she let out another ear-piercing wail. "It could be colic or gas. Have you tried massaging their tummies?"
Tang Xue i looked over at Feng Shihan, and they both exchanged a look of realization. "No, we haven’t," Feng Shihan said, feeling a little guilty for not thinking of it sooner.
Auntie Gu smiled kindly and took Sheni into her arms, carefully rubbing her belly in small, gentle circles. "It’s common for babies to have a little gas after feeding. Sotis it just needs a bit of help working its way out."
Tang Xue i quickly took Shenhua from Feng Shihan and copied Auntie Gu’s motions, gently massaging his tiny belly. After a few monts, Shenhua’s cries began to subside, and Tang Xue i could feel the tension leaving his small body.
"There you go, little one," she whispered, her voice soft and soothing. "It’s alright now."
A few monts later, Sheni let out a soft burp in Auntie Gu’s arms, and her cries faded into soft whimpers before stopping altogether.
"See?" Auntie Gu said with a proud smile. "Sotis it’s just the little things."
Tang Xue i let out a relieved breath, her body sagging with exhaustion as she handed Shenhua back to Feng Shihan. "Thank you, Auntie Gu. I don’t know what we would’ve done without you."
Auntie Gu smiled warmly. "It’s no trouble at all. You’re new parents—it’s normal to feel overwheld. But you’re doing a wonderful job."
Feng Shihan nodded, his expression softening as he looked down at the now-quiet Shenhua. "We’ll get better at this. It’s just going to take so ti."
Tang Xue i smiled wearily. "Yeah, I guess we just have to take it one step at a ti."
As the twins finally settled back into a peaceful sleep, Feng Shihan and Tang Xue i quietly tucked them back into their bassinets. The room returned to its calm state, the soft sounds of the babies breathing filling the space once more.
"We survived another one," Feng Shihan whispered as he wrapped his arm around Tang Xue i.
She smiled, leaning into him. "Barely. But I wouldn’t trade it for anything. But I’m having a feeling these two are going to be an handful."
