"Oh, I still have a little brother."
"I freaking..."
Wu Xiaowu checked everything, then ca over: "The truck driver is fine, your sister-in-law is fine too, right?"
Sister-in-law.
Fu Ying silently lowered her head, her face flushed, feeling a bit uncomfortable with the term.
However, she really liked being called that.
She lowered her head and noticed the man tightly holding her hand.
It was sumr, hot and sweaty in the palms.
Fu Yan was still stuck in the car, irritably shouting: "Sister-in-law is fine, but your team leader’s uncle is in trouble!"
Shen Liguang glanced at Fu Yan: "Drag him out and call traffic police to deal with this."
Wu Xiaowu nodded: "Okay."
Wu Xiaowu opened the car door, leaning in to pull Fu Yan.
Fu Yan frowned, pained and yelled: "Damn! Lighten up, dude."
"Light enough, you are not a girl."
Fu Yan: "Just because I am not a girl, you treat differently?"
Wu Xiaowu: "Yes."
"..."
"How could it scratch this long?" Shen Liguang bent down to check her wound and asked.
"I was holding a pen, and suddenly hit the brakes. I reached out to grab sothing, and accidentally got scratched." Fu Ying suddenly thought of that pen and imdiately turned and climbed back into the car.
Shen Liguang frowned and followed her: "What are you looking for?"
"That pen was a gift from Wen Tian; it was given by soone else, I need to keep it safe."
Wen Tian.
Shen Liguang’s eyes slightly cooled: "Let help you look for it."
"No need, I found it."
With an evidently fading gaze, Shen Liguang stared at her still bleeding hand and asked: "Doesn’t it hurt?"
"Hurt seems to be montary, it’s not so painful now."
Shen Liguang grabbed her hand and walked towards the fire truck; they always carry iodine for simple wound treatnt.
Fu Ying listened to his deep voice: "Many pains are not montary but grow stronger with each breath."
"Ah?"
Shen Liguang bowed his head and laughed: "It’s nothing."
Fu Ying scratched her head: "I was thinking of coming back early to surprise you."
"Uh, quite surprising." He chuckled lightly, looking earnestly as he treated her wound.
Fu Ying stared at his profile, dazed; he suddenly looked up, and she quickly turned away.
"What are you looking at?"
Fu Ying, "... The stars here seem different from those in the countryside."
"Must be fun there, right?"
"Yeah, the air is good."
Shen Liguang looked downwards: "Glad you had fun."
"Cough... erm..." Qian Zheng ca over, saw the two, and cleared his throat, "The traffic police have arrived, that guy is fine, just superficial injuries, doesn’t need to go to the hospital. Your hand shouldn’t need the hospital either, right?"
"No need, tell the situation to the traffic police, and we are heading back."
Qian Zheng nodded.
"Brother, are you leaving?"
"Yep."
Fu Ying lowered her head: "Okay then."
Shen Liguang kissed her forehead: "Send a ssage when you get ho."
Fu Ying obediently nodded: "Okay."
"Xiao Shen, let’s go."
Soone urged him, and he turned and boarded the truck to leave.
Fu Ying stood there motionless, watching the fire truck go further and further.
There, the traffic police understood the situation from Fu Yan and decided that the big truck was completely at fault.
Struggled all evening, only got ho past midnight.
Fu Ying was so tired, she picked up her phone intending to send him a WeChat ssage that she’d arrived, but fell asleep midway through typing.
Early in the morning, her sleep got disturbed by Lin Lishan’s call.
The girl on the phone was sobbing, cursing Sheng Chen while sniffling.
The lovers had so quarrel and ca to her for venting, it sounded pretty serious.
Fu Ying busied herself in a rush, hurriedly washed up, and skipped breakfast to et Lin Lishan.
The girl was sitting at the entrance of the mall, head down, wiping tears.
"What happened? Did Sheng Chen make you angry again?"
Lin Lishan’s eyes were red with anger: "This ti, I am breaking up with him!"
Disputes over breaking up among young couples are like complicated family affairs that the third party shouldn’t intervene in; it would only ss things up more.
That day, Fu Ying kept Lin Lishan company until the evening, went shopping with her, and her mood seed a bit better. Watching her go ho, Fu Ying got on a bus and then rembered to send Shen Li a text.
She took out her phone and realized it was out of battery.
Fu Ying didn’t go ho but went to his apartnt.
After charging her phone and turning it on, his call ca imdiately, Fu Ying fumbled to answer, the man’s voice sounded very urgent.
"Why was your phone off?"
"It ran out of battery."
"Where are you now?"
"At the apartnt."
She could feel the person on the other end visibly relax.
Fu Ying didn’t know what to feel, sensing his insecurity.
"Wait for at ho."
Fu Ying nodded: "Okay."
"There are snacks, fruits in the fridge, and be careful when you’re ho alone, don’t use the gas if you can’t handle it, don’t open the door for strangers, watch TV if you’re bored, I’ll be back tonight."
He instructed her like one would instruct a child.
Fu Ying blinked, petting Qibao, obediently responding: "I understand."
"Yingying." Shen Liguang looked out the car window, softly calling her na.
The girl replied docilely.
He smiled: "It’s okay, just wanted to call your na."
Fu Ying didn’t know what to say, he chuckled softly over the phone: "Hang up."
"Okay." Fu Ying hung up and stared at her phone in a daze until Qibao ca to nuzzle her, bringing her back to reality.
Fu Ying went to find her bag, which she took last ti she stord out, and it contained her diary. Fu Ying opened the zipper of her backpack and found the diary inside, relieved.
It would be so embarrassing if he discovered it.
She lay on the couch, flipping through the diary, laughing at her own sentintality.
Back then, liking soone ant being overly sensitive, seeing him with another girl could ruin her day.
Always looking for opportunities to "accidentally" et him, satisfied with just a distant glance each day, how silly.
As the outside grew darker, Fu Ying lay on the sofa, dozing off.
Suddenly there was a noise at the door; startled, she woke up and didn’t get the chance to hide her diary before Shen Liguang walked in.
Unperturbed, she quickly tucked the diary under a pillow.
"What are you hiding?"
Fu Ying shook her head: "Nothing, nothing."
Shen Liguang raised an eyebrow, not believing her, sat beside her, and enveloped her in his arms, reaching for the hidden diary.
He suddenly leaned in close, causing Fu Ying’s heart to race, she shrank back, pressing tightly against the pillow.
Not afraid of being peeked at, but it’s embarrassing to be read in front of her.
Yet his strength was too great, Fu Ying was no match.
She reached out and wrapped her arms around Shen Liguang’s neck, her small body pressing close.
"Brother, don’t look."
Fu Ying instinctively tried to grab it, but was too slow.
The diary was filled with girlish sentints; flipping it open anywhere revealed sentintality, bitterness, heartache, and perhaps, a bit of sweetness.
