"Where is Director Lin going?"
"To learn how to ski!"
An Lan watched Lin Feng's retreating figure with envy and suddenly rembered sothing.
"If everything goes well, my little one should be born in August. It'd be amazing if it was on the eighth, too."
"Yeah, then the kids could celebrate their birthdays together."
An Lan pointed at Sibao. "Wow, look at Sibao! He's already mastered skating. How impressive!"
Zhang Yuxi looked over and saw that, indeed, Sibao was already gliding independently on the ice.
An Lan said sincerely, "Sibao has a real talent for sports. If we nurture it properly, he could beco another genius!"
Although Sibao was frail as a child, he's grown into a true little man with the system's help! It was the sa for Sanbao with music. In fact, he was a true musical prodigy.
"Lin Feng is planning for him to apply to a sports university after he finishes his regular schooling," Zhang Yuxi said. "But he's still so young!"
"We'll just take it one step at a ti," An Lan replied. "Choosing the right path early on can save you from a lot of detours later in life."
An Lan, being a parent herself, understood. It's often said that parents plan far into the future for their children, always thinking more about it than the children themselves.
anwhile, Sibao was already gliding around freely—it truly seed to be a natural talent. Erbao, in contrast, was stiff and overly cautious. Dabao still needed a staff mber to help him play.
Over at the slopes, Lin Feng rented so equipnt, and a male staff mber gave him hands-on instructions on how to maintain his balance and rember the basics.
In less than five minutes, Lin Feng had gone down the beginner slope twice. Feeling he had it down, he decided he could move on to the interdiate slope.
The staff mber was speechless. "..."
Ten minutes later, Lin Feng moved on to the advanced slope.
The staff mber was speechless again. "..."
"Sir, is this really your first ti?"
"Mm-hmm, is there a problem?"
"No, it's just... you're incredible!"
Well, I am a man who has undergone the Purification and Marrow Cleansing, after all.
The staff mber was very concerned. "Sir, how about you stick to the interdiate slope for a while? It would be much safer for you!"
Lin Feng, goggles on, stood against the wind and looked down the slope below. "It's fine," he said nonchalantly. "I've got this."
The staff mber was still very worried but didn't try to stop him anymore. "I'll go with you!" If an accident happens, at least I'll be there to do sothing right away.
As it turned out, his worries were entirely unnecessary. Lin Feng's performance was flawless.
Lin Feng usually only played basketball, and that was back in high school. It wasn't until that ti he participated at the gymnasium that he realized he was actually quite gifted at sports.
After waiting for a long ti with no sign of Lin Feng's return, Zhang Yuxi temporarily left Dabao and Sibao in the care of Ming Guang and the others. Then, she and An Lan went over to the ski slopes to look for him.
Lin Feng was so handso that, of course, people rembered him.
"Oh, him? He went to the advanced slope," one of the instructors said on his break.
Before Zhang Yuxi could say anything, An Lan exclaid in shock, "What? The advanced slope?"
Hearing this, Zhang Yuxi's heart seized with panic.
An Lan frowned. "The advanced slope is designed for experienced, competitive-level skiers. Has Director Lin lost his mind?"
"Will he be in danger?" Zhang Yuxi asked hurriedly.
An Lan blurted out, "Of course it is! I wouldn't dare go on that slope, let alone Director Lin, who's a complete beginner!"
The color drained from Zhang Yuxi's face. "Wh-what?"
"Don't panic!" An Lan said quickly. "My skills weren't good enough, that's all. Director Lin will definitely be fine!"
"Yuxi? Yuxi?"
Zhang Yuxi snapped back to her senses. "I... I'm going to call Lin Feng."
"Don't call just yet, let's wait a mont," An Lan said quickly.
She went to ask a staff mber and, upon learning that Lin Feng was accompanied by an instructor, quickly relayed the news to Zhang Yuxi. Zhang Yuxi breathed a sigh of relief but still felt worried.
"With an instructor there, nothing can happen," An Lan soothed. "Besides, you know Director Lin. He wouldn't do anything rash unless he was absolutely sure of himself."
Zhang Yuxi nodded absently. She wasn't quite as terrified as before, but the fear lingered. They waited for twenty minutes.
An Lan and Zhang Yuxi were looking around when a familiar voice from behind startled them both. Zhang Yuxi spun around, and the mont she saw Lin Feng, she threw herself into his arms, clinging to him as if she'd been afraid of losing him forever. He could feel her terror.
Lin Feng was completely baffled. "What's wrong?" he asked, looking at An Lan.
Clutching her chest, An Lan said irritably, "You have the nerve to ask what's wrong? Yuxi heard you went to the advanced slope and has been sick with worry waiting for you."
Lin Feng finally understood. He gently patted Zhang Yuxi's back, consoling her. "Don't overthink things. I wasn't in any danger. See? I'm standing right here, perfectly fine, aren't I? I only went to the advanced slope because I was completely confident."
Once Zhang Yuxi had cald down, she looked up at him. Seeing her little face flushed red from the cold, his heart ached for her. "Co on, let's go ho. I'll make you sothing delicious."
Zhang Yuxi gave a soft murmur of assent.
They had played enough for the day, and it was ti to go ho. The children were exhausted and fell asleep right after dinner, without even washing their feet.
"Honey! You terrified
today..."
"Shh, it's okay. I'm fine, my dear. Don't tornt yourself with what-ifs."
In that half hour of waiting, she had imagined so many terrible possibilities.
"Promise
you won't do anything dangerous again. The children and I need you!"
"I know, I promise."
Lin Feng kissed Zhang Yuxi, calming her fears.
Four days later, Tony and his group departed. Although Lin Feng had told them they were welco to stay longer, they had too much to do and felt work had to co first.
The other two groups left in succession as well.
Zhang Yuxi, An Lan, and the rest of their party finally departed on the sixth day.
An Lan and Liu Bo headed for Modu, planning to travel back to icheng with An Lan's mother from there.
