Chapter 54

The next day ca, and the group all got up. After a while of washing up, dressing, and preparing themselves, they were finally ready to continue their journey and return to Burnold City in the Night Region.

"Wait, where is Brother Yu?" Li Xie couldn’t help but ask when he noticed that everyone was ready to leave, yet Liyu was nowhere in sight.

The group all turned their gazes toward Li Yuexin; she was the one who had clung tightly to him throughout the entire night, or at least that was what they believed.

All except Li Feng. He had seen Liyu leave the cave last night. He didn’t know why, but he had gotten the feeling that Liyu wanted to run away sohow. If that bastard cousin of his really decided to run away, then it would be a huge hassle.

They had already sacrificed so much ti and effort searching for him in the first place. Li Feng was certain that Li Yuexin didn’t know where Liyu had gone, and yet she looked so relaxed and unbothered.

Seeing the gazes of the group locked onto her, Li Yuexin finally spoke. Her soft voice was calm, yet loud enough for the three standing a short distance away to hear: "Don’t worry. He didn’t run away. He’ll probably be here any minute now."

Li Yuexin said that with confidence and certainty, yet even she wasn’t fully certain of her own words. After all, she had no idea where Liyu had gone. But she believed in him. He always kept his promises, and he had promised not to abandon her again. She would believe in that promise.

Seconds turned into a minute; one minute turned into several long minutes. Now the group was beginning to tense up. Each of them was wondering whether Liyu had truly run away again. That would be extrely annoying.

After all, they had all co this far for his sake; if he simply ran away again, then all their effort would have been for nothing. All the pain, all the trouble, and all the risks they had taken... everything would have gone to waste. Finally, Li Jie couldn’t hold himself back anymore: "I think he ran away..." The group froze; their expressions stiffened.

That was exactly what they had all been thinking. None of them wanted it to be true... well... all except Li Feng. "Who ran away?" a calm voice suddenly asked. Li Jie was just about to answer when he froze. His eyes widened slightly. That voice... he and the rest of the group quickly turned toward the direction from which the voice had co.

And there he was. Liyu.

The group couldn’t help but heave sighs of relief. Each of them had their own thoughts upon seeing his current appearance.

Of course, Liyu was wearing his ani-inspired dark overcoat. A pair of black goggles hid his sharp gaze, while his long dark hair flowed gently in the air as if lifted by so sort of mysterious cosmic wind.

But that wasn’t the only thing making him eye-catching; he was casually twirling a silver dagger around his finger. The weapon bore the engraving of a dragon coiling around its surface, giving it a majestic aura.

Combined with his outfit, it made him look incredibly cool at this mont. He looks nice, Li Xie couldn’t help but admit that in his heart. His fashion sense was really sothing; it wouldn’t be bad being friends with him and helping him beco even more accustod to fashion, Li Jie thought with a calm expression.

Monkey. He looks like a monkey, Li Feng thought irritably as he looked at the small smile on Liyu’s face. A fooling-around monkey for sure. He snorted inwardly.

anwhile, Li Yuexin’s expression had already transford into a bright smile. She had many thoughts in her mind right now, but the clearest one was simple: He is here. Liyu hadn’t lied. He hadn’t abandoned her again. That alone made her extrely happy.

"Enough of this, Host. How long are you going to stand there like a moron? Even models don’t act like statues for this long. Get your legs moving already. You’re embarrassing ." The System’s annoying voice instantly ruined Liyu’s aura-farming mont.

He didn’t bother replying. He really didn’t want to. Still, he jumped down from the tree he was standing on and landed smoothly before the group. Giving them a small smile, he spoke, "Co on, guys. We’ve got a long journey ahead of us. Let’s not keep others waiting."

The group couldn’t help but twitch their eyes. Wasn’t he the main reason they were still here? Yet he was acting as if it was sohow everyone else’s fault. Such audacity. Still, the group was simply too tired to deal with Liyu’s nonsense.

For so reason, it felt as though the annoying Liyu they had known a month ago had sohow beco ten tis more annoying, and ten tis crazier.

Without any further delay, the group finally set out. They were fully prepared to fight beasts along the way. After all, they were still inside beast territory; in fact, they believed battles would be unavoidable. Still, they were confident in their ability to win.

Not only had they fully recovered from the brutal battles they had endured over the past week, but they also had another ally now. Although Liyu was only at the Peak Body Refinent Realm, any help would still be appreciated.

Soon, the group spotted a pack of beasts ahead. Judging from their auras alone, one could easily tell that they were Mid Qi Gathering Realm beasts.

There were around six of them in total. The battle wouldn’t be effortless, but it certainly wouldn’t be difficult either. The group ca to a stop. The beasts imdiately turned toward them. Weapons were unsheathed. Qi began to stir.

Everyone was prepared to end the battle as quickly as possible. Even so, it would still take several minutes. Yet just as the group drew their weapons... the deer-type beasts suddenly froze.

Their eyes widened in pure terror. Their bodies trembled violently. Without even giving the group a second glance, they turned tail and fled at full speed. Only their fading silhouettes remained visible in the distance.

The group could only stare in astonishnt. Every single one of them was thinking the sa thing: Did those powerful beasts just run away?

It wasn’t impossible for beasts to fear human cultivators and flee, but that usually only happened when there was a massive difference in realms.

For example, if they were at the Qi Refining Realm, then such a reaction would make sense, but everyone present was only at the Qi Gathering Realm, and Liyu himself was rely at the Peak Body Refinent Realm.

"Let’s continue moving." Li Yuexin sheathed her blade once more before taking the lead. Even she couldn’t understand what had just happened.

Beasts were infamous for their madness. A Level Two beast at the Early Stage would charge fearlessly even against a Peak Qi Gathering cultivator.

By all accounts, none of those beasts should have reacted like that. They should have attacked with their usual frenzy... not run away like frightened rabbits. Yet that was exactly what they had done.

And sohow, that made the situation even stranger. She didn’t let her mind linger on the strange matter for long; instead, she focused on the task at hand. She was certain to be punished severely by the Clan Lord for breaking his orders, and above that, she had an upcoming tournant that she absolutely needed to win.

To do that, she needed to break through into the Qi Refining Realm. She needed to reach the clan as soon as possible so she could complete her preparations for the tournant, an event that held great importance.

Soon, the group spotted another bunch of beasts. The beasts turned their gazes toward the group. Li Yuexin’s hand moved toward her sword, but she hadn’t even gotten the chance to unsheathe her blade when the beasts suddenly turned and ran away in a large burst of motion.

They fled as fast as they could, letting out terrified cries as they disappeared into the distance. Li Yuexin couldn’t help the twitching in her eyes.

Just what the hell was happening to all the beasts here? What exactly were they running from? She couldn’t help but wonder.

Still, they couldn’t stop because of this oddity. They continued pushing forward toward the edge of the forest.

Due to how deeply they had ventured into the Beast Forest, even if they traveled the entire day without encountering any trouble, they would only reach the edge of the outer periter by nightfall.

That was to say that they still had a very long journey ahead of them.

The group continued moving forward. After a few hundred ters, they ca to a stop. All gazes were directed ahead. Several gorilla-type beasts stood before them.

Two large spikes protruded from the backs of each beast. There were at least ten of them, and all radiated the aura of Late Stage Level Two beasts.

Without a doubt, they would be quite troubleso opponents to deal with. The Spiked Gorillas stopped what they were doing and turned their attention toward the humans.

The gorillas roared as they pounded their chests. Qi brimd around their massive bodies as they prepared for battle. To them, these humans were not a threat at all; they would all be torn apart.

The confidence of the gorillas was sky-high as they scanned the faces of the humans they were about to massacre. Their confidence only grew when they saw the wary expressions on Li Jie and Li Xie’s faces.

That was until they saw one face in particular. Standing at the back of the group was a figure dressed entirely in black. Dark lenses covered his eyes. His gaze couldn’t even be seen. And yet every single Spiked Gorilla imdiately recognized who he was.

No one needed to tell them. No introductions were necessary. He was none other than that psychopathic beast slaughterer... the one known as the Primal Tyrant.

The one every beast in this region knew to run away from if they valued their lives. And there he was, smiling at them. All the Spiked Gorillas felt their fur stand on end. Their bodies trembled uncontrollably as they looked at Liyu’s grinning face.

Before Li Yuexin could even order the charge and begin the battle, the Spiked Gorillas turned tail. Without uttering another sound, they fled.

The group blinked in surprise. Then they blinked again in astonishnt. And then they continued blinking, wondering if their eyes were deceiving them. The Spiked Gorillas had fled.

One had to know that Spiked Gorillas were among the most insane beast species in the forest. They were notoriously prideful and rarely retreated, even when facing stronger opponents.

And yet those sa prideful beasts were now running away as fast and as frantically as they could. It was as though Death itself had stared directly at them. Li Yuexin wouldn’t know it, but in a rather uncommon sense, she was absolutely correct.

Liyu was considered a terror. He was the incarnation of death to every beast living within this section of the forest. Those who had rely heard stories about him feared him.

Those who had actually witnessed him in action feared him even more. They had all been traumatized, horrified, and ntally scarred.

So no matter how strange the behavior of the Spiked Gorillas seed, once Liyu’s existence was taken into account, their reaction beca completely reasonable.

After all, when the Primal Tyrant was smiling at you, running away was usually the smartest decision a beast could make.
