It’s really a sweet little burden that leaves one at a loss for what to do.

Tang Chuxia was kissed by Gu Beihuai to the point she forgot to retort.

The relationship between the two of them continued to heat up, but it wasn’t so pleasant for others, such as Father Tang who had just returned ho.

He squeezed his temples, looking at the empty courtyard, thinking of himself, a middle-aged man, estranged from his children, separated from his wife, left only as a solitary man.

Yet he was utterly helpless.

Especially today, he went back to his ancestral ho and saw the thing the Tang Family guarded like a treasure, which was actually just a book.

Father Tang had known the contents of that book since he was young, but never discovered any issue with it. After many years, seeing it again, he still believed it was wrong for the Tang Family to sacrifice so much for a tattered book.

But only today did he understand the significance of that book; learned from Second Grandma that the Tang Family had, for generations, taken guarding that book as their duty. Second Grandpa also died because of it.

As for others who died in the Tang Family, apart from those who died naturally, the rest were all because of that book.

Now it was his turn, he didn’t want his children to continue guarding that book, he only hoped all the problems would end with him, but reality was not so ideal.

He saw an unexpected person.

If he hadn’t repeatedly confird he wasn’t seeing things or drunk, he would have doubted he made a mistake.

When that person stood before him alive, Father Tang found it sowhat unacceptable.

"What? Can’t believe I’m still alive?"

Even hearing that person’s words, Father Tang couldn’t accept it.

He only felt everything was too unbelievable.

Then he went to find his grandmother; back in the day, she knew quite a bit about certain matters.

In the end, his grandmother confird all his suspicions, "Back then I wronged Minglan. If I hadn’t agreed to your parents’ demands, Minglan wouldn’t have had to suffer so much!"

Grandmother was always soone who stood tall. Even at her current age, she still disliked bending down.

But now his grandmother’s spine suddenly caved in, and she couldn’t even face her past self.

How cruel must her heart have been to do such a thing.

Fortunately, everything had been spoken about openly; whether it was to atone or whatever in the future, she believed she could face it.

Father Tang brought all his frustrations ho, wanting to talk to Madam Tang, but Madam Tang had gone traveling, whereabouts unknown.

He wanted to discuss it with his sons but found they all had their own matters and didn’t know how to ask them to co back.

As for finding Tang Chuxia...

It wasn’t impossible, just that Father Tang was too aware of how much Tang Chuxia protected Madam Tang, probably still hasn’t forgiven her by now.

It seed that in this big wide world, Father Tang didn’t know what to do.

He went to a little pub, ordered a plate of peanuts, a couple of small dishes, and sat down with so wine.

Listening to the discussions within the small pub, he only occasionally took a sip, his expression filled with endless sorrow amidst wandering thoughts.

How did life beco like this?

Just as he considered drinking his troubles away, soone sat across from him.

Father Tang looked up and saw the face of the old Taoist.

The old Taoist was soone beyond the ordinary with food and drink. He also ordered so wine, having Father Tang foot the bill.

Father Tang truly admired his shalessness, but thinking he was an elder anyway, he still paid.

"Xiao Tang, you’ve got a problem, a bit lacking in ntal fortitude!"

The old Taoist criticized Father Tang relentlessly.

But Father Tang’s reaction was the sa: "Otherwise? How should I be considered correct?"

Actually, it wasn’t surprising the old Taoist could see sothing was off with Father Tang. Considering how skilled he was and his close relationship with Third Grandpa.

For all these years of issues within the Tang Family, he didn’t think this old Taoist would be unaware.

Knowing too well, he couldn’t help but feel helpless when seeing this guy.

Soone even watched him when he wanted to drink his fill, leaving Father Tang only able to sigh.

"I was also involved in matters back then."

The old Taoist’s words only made Father Tang smile bitterly.

Of course that was true, otherwise, it wouldn’t make any sense.

"I just didn’t expect it would take so many years for it all to surface!"

The old Taoist was filled with guilt. Who would have guessed such a montary lapse back then would result in so much misunderstanding.

Father Tang asked, "Does my wife know?"

The old Taoist shook his head, "She never knew anything from start to finish, you might even say she was the most pitiful one, because everyone kept it from her!"

Father Tang felt even worse.

What a ss it all was.

How such a bright person back then, ended up being kept in the dark by everyone until now.

"What about my little daughter? Does she know?"

The old Taoist gave Father Tang a strange look: "If even you aren’t clear on it, how would she know? She wasn’t born with mories from the womb."

The phrasing was masterful, sohow sounded like an insult?

Father Tang sipped his drink; the spicy taste hit his senses and went straight to his stomach.

"Exactly who is trying to ss with our family? Were those people who died before also related to this matter?" Though Father Tang was not truly stupid, so things only needed a bit of analysis to realize sothing wasn’t right.

The old Taoist’s answer greatly shocked Father Tang: "The person behind Qingzhu, you might know as well. As for who exactly it is, you will eventually find out. Whatever I say now is useless!"

The old Taoist poured the wine in front of him into his mouth, then got up, and swung back his duster in an arc to hang on his elbow, before leisurely leaving.

Leaving only an aged back for Father Tang.

Quite a few people in the little pub were amazed by this scene, thinking that the old Taoist was really a man of true nature, with wine pouring down like water, living with a free heart.

Father Tang finished his drink as well, two asures of alcohol were not enough to completely intoxicate him, just leaving him with a mild buzz.

He walked ho and ran into Father Gu at the alley entrance.

"What happened to you?"

Seeing Father Tang’s unusual state, Father Gu stepped forward to offer support.

Father Tang lay on Father Gu’s shoulder: "Old friend, tell what I’ve actually done. For so many years, how much of a bastard have I been?"

Father Gu: ...

Not sure what’s going on with this friend, hardly ever so self-critical.

He thought Father Tang was feeling this way because of Madam Tang’s departure, so he comforted him with a couple of words: "You were a bit of a bastard, the old lady is such a good person, and yet you didn’t treat her well, hurt her heart!"

Seeing Father Tang’s worsening expression, Father Gu couldn’t bear it and added: "Of course, now that you realize your mistake, it proves it’s not too late. When the old lady cos back, just apologize sincerely, after all these years, she’ll likely give you a chance!"

Father Tang rubbed his face: "You sure?"
