Tang Chuxia burrowed back under the covers and closed her eyes, urging him to speak quickly.
She had gotten used to this guy barging in in the middle of the night anyway.
Gu Beihuai lowered his voice and asked, "Do you really want to sleep with that much?"
Tang Chuxia suddenly opened her eyes wide – if the light was on, one might have seen a green gleam in her eyes.
She had indeed wanted to – she died without tasting the flesh in her previous life, so in this life, she decided it was better to satisfy that desire first. As for whether she might die young again, at least she wouldn’t regret it.
But then, Gu Beihuai saw her reaction and laughed out loud.
"What, you’re the one who had been slept with?" Tang Chuxia reached out to grab Gu Beihuai’s cheek, naturally catching nothing, and then she heard Gu Beihuai’s mocking voice, "I’m not letting you sleep with !"
Tang Chuxia fell back, thinking that this kind of unbearable man needed to be set straight.
Too much?
How could he tease her like this?
After ignoring Gu Beihuai, he ca closer and asked, "Seriously now, what are your plans after the New Year’s?"
Tang Chuxia sighed, "Haven’t I said it? I’m going to take the college entrance exams. I definitely want to study hard and strive for admission!" It seed she had stated this before.
Perhaps because so much had happened this winter, many people hadn’t realized that Tang Chuxia was serious about this and thought she was joking.
Gu Beihuai hadn’t taken it seriously at first either, but when he saw Tang Chuxia’s earnest expression, he suddenly realized she must be telling the truth.
"Have you thought this through? If you go to college, you might have to follow a set schedule at school, but what do you want to study? chanical engineering?"
Gu Beihuai lay beside Tang Chuxia, his face filled with curiosity.
Tang Chuxia yawned and casually said, "How could I? I’m not interested in that stuff at all. I’m planning to study veterinary science!"
Gu Beihuai fell off the bed in shock, got up in a roll, and looked at Tang Chuxia, "Are you kidding ?"
Tang Chuxia shrugged, "I’m not joking, that’s really what I’m thinking. Why don’t you believe ?"
Veterinary science?
Not to ntion whether the Tang Family would agree, what were vets even doing these days?
Tang Chuxia, seeing that Gu Beihuai was skeptical, explained, "Let tell you, trust , in the future, veterinary science will be extrely in demand. Who knows, I might even beco a miraculous vet!"
Gu Beihuai sneered, "Are you planning to treat tigers or leopards? Veterinary science? Outside of dealing with the crap and dung of cows and sheep, is there any need for vets?"
Tang Chuxia suddenly sat up.
She had forgotten about the current era, it wasn’t like her previous life, where veterinary science was indeed in demand. The timing wasn’t right.
Upon realizing this, Tang Chuxia fell into deep thought.
Gu Beihuai was pleased that Tang Chuxia was taking this matter seriously and reminded her, "If you want to slack off, go study journalism!"
Tang Chuxia shook her head like a rattle drum, everyone saw journalism as a prestigious major, but for Tang Chuxia, it was too torturous – she wasn’t soone who liked being in the lilight.
She moved her wrists around and finally realized that what she could slack off in was sothing she was already good at.
"I might as well go study dicine!"
Though studying dicine was tough, with the knowledge from her past life and the Divine Power of this life, things could be much easier.
Gu Beihuai was so vexed he ran out of words, "Haven’t you thought about sothing a bit easier, where you might have so spare ti?"
Tang Chuxia looked at Gu Beihuai’s receding figure and muttered, "Can’t even close the door properly, what if the cold air gets in?" Then she reluctantly climbed out of bed to close the door herself before lying back down, "I’ll do whatever I feel like doing!"
She had understood Gu Beihuai’s intent just fine but didn’t want to go along with it.
She did manage to sleep soundly that night, but her good mood was ruined the next day when her elder brother woke her up, "Ti to write the couplets!"
In the past, it was always Tang Chuxia who wrote the family’s Spring Festival couplets, ever since Third Brother wasn’t ho! The calligraphy of the other brothers was simply atrocious.
Tang Chuxia yawned, tempted to say, "I don’t know how to either!"
But she didn’t dare. Fortunately for her, her calligraphy really wasn’t much to look at, but her drawing skills were superior, so she could simply draw the couplets, right? Those in the know wouldn’t say anything, and the clueless just enjoyed the show.
After breakfast, she saw that her elder brother had cleared the coffee table for her to write the couplets on.
"Elder brother, can’t we do this in the study?" Tang Chuxia, annoyed, rolled up her sleeves, took the brush, and sighed internally; though everyone in the Tang Family was in the military, they had quite the appreciation for culture.
All of Tang Chuxia’s brushwork was closely watched by the family.
Worried about being exposed, Tang Chuxia hesitated to start writing until Madam Tang smacked her, "Hurry up and write, you only get this chance once a year. Once you get married next year, you won’t have the opportunity!"
Tang Chuxia was startled. Was she really not going to be able to write couplets after getting married?
Before she had the chance to ask, her elder sister-in-law chuckled, "In the future, the sister-in-law can do it!" Third sister-in-law, sitting beside her, smiled.
Tang Chuxia felt like passing the brush to soone else at that mont but feared Madam Tang’s wrath.
A long strip of bright red paper was cut out, and Tang Chuxia took a deep breath. She rembered so of the quirky couplets she had seen in her previous life and started writing in a fluid, dragon-like stroke that certainly looked powerful.
However, when the family mbers saw what was on the couplets, Madam Tang pinched Tang Chuxia’s ear, "Tang Chuxia, are you asking for a spanking?"
Tang Chuxia put down the brush and cried out in pain, "Mom, you just don’t get it. I’m being innovative! Even though so of the characters are hard to read, the aning is pretty clear, right?"
She called over Licorice, soone who couldn’t read much, "Licorice, can you understand what it says?"
Licorice looked over it carefully and said uncertainly, "Love the country, love ho, love freedom; guard against fire, theft, and parents. The horizontal scroll says: True Love is Priceless!"
Tang Chuxia gave Licorice a thumbs-up.
Madam Tang was so angry she wanted to hit soone.
"You little brat, what are you saying?"
Tang Chuxia took off running, followed by the laughter of the Tang Family, especially from the third sister-in-law and the elder sister-in-law, who couldn’t believe how mischievous Tang Chuxia was.
Especially that line, "True Love is Priceless."
The couplet Tang Chuxia wrote must have been derived from the ideas of a certain poem.
It wasn’t that she couldn’t write; it was just that many of the characters had been replaced with drawings, both funny and true to life.
Among the children of the Tang Family, except for Tang Chuxia whose marriage had been arranged, the others had all found their own partners.
Tang Chuxia hadn’t said anything wrong!
Madam Tang couldn’t catch up with Tang Chuxia and, standing at the doorway with hands on hips, yelled, "Tang Chuxia, get back here and continue writing the couplets!"
As it happened, Mrs. Gu had co over to deliver cured at and, seeing Madam Tang’s state, asked curiously and then found out about the couplets affair, laughing until tears streaming down her face.
"Oh my, does our Xiaxia have such talent? Later on, you should write a couple for our house too!"
From behind Mrs. Gu, Tang Chuxia poked her head out and shouted, "Of course!"
Madam Tang wanted to discipline her, but Tang Chuxia was out of reach.
"You little rascal, hurry up and get married off, go bother your Aunt Hong!"
