My Blacksmith System: Transforming my Weapons into Beautiful Maidens Chapter 10: Revengeful priestess
"Listen..."
Eri dusted her clothes, standing in front of Rashin, who was seated on a log.
"You can't go around pinning people to the ground like you did just now. You could have seriously injured ," she warned with a slight frown on her face.
"Apologies. Back in my ti, I trained my body to react when I'm vulnerable in case a Hakia attacks. I couldn't help it."
Rashin's response made Eri sigh a bit.
"I have a question," she began. "How were you able to battle the Hakias when you have no blessing? From what we were told, people of the past were powerless against the Hakias and didn't stand a chance against them. But you speak as if you fought them on equal footing."
Rashin stared at his hand.
"To answer your question, I don't rember much of what happened in my ti. To be frank, it's a bit blurry, but what I do know is that I stood my ground against them. Never being able to kill them completely was what led to my defeat in every battle."
'This man really is strange, no doubt about it.' Eri now placed her hand on her waist.
"If you say you can't rember, then there's no use talking about it. What we need to figure out is how we'll move from here."
Rashin was quick to speak up.
"I intend to kill off the Hakias for good. That is my only goal right now."
Eri looked at him, rembering he had indeed killed a Hakia in front of her.
Rashin continued, "The fact that I'm alive today and didn't die with the rest of my people from my ti is proof enough that the world wants to save it from these damn creatures. I'm sorry, but I do not intend to let that slip by ."
His words were that of a warrior who had found his sword and was ready to battle.
Eri was quiet for a while.
"You truly an it?" she asked.
Rashin raised a brow. "Were my words not enough to convince you?"
"I guess you're right about that. Then it's settled."
"What is?"
"You and I are going to exterminate the Hakias."
Rashin suddenly stood up, his finger raised. "Uhm, I think you misunderstood . I never planned on you following on this journey. It's quite dangerous for a woman to—"
"I am not just a woman! I am the third priestess of the angel! Don't go underestimating !" Eri shouted and then pointed at Rashin.
"If anything, you should be begging to co with you. You don't know anything about this world. How do you plan on surviving? Not to ntion the fact that you'd be dead if the head priest finds you."
"I believe I can protect myself."
"Well, I'm coming with you, and that's final!"
It didn't seem like Eri planned on going back on her words. Her mind had been made up.
"You are quite adamant. Is there any reason as to why you'd want to follow ? I don't think you understand what I ant by killing every Hakia."
"Yes, I understood you perfectly, and I want the sa thing too. As a priestess, this is pretty much my duty. Regardless of the outco, you are still my hero, and I, your priestess, so you need ."
Her words were too convincing. Rashin had no choice but to let it go.
"You win," he said with a straight face.
"Good. If you plan on killing Hakias, then the best ti would be after the countdown," Eri spoke.
"What is a countdown?"
"Oh right, I forgot you're new to this world," she began to explain. "A countdown is a phenonon when the Hakias are able to slip through the barriers and make direct contact with our reality for a total of ten minutes. Once it's ten minutes, they are sucked back."
Rashin leaned forward. "They are sucked back right after? Then what about the one I killed yesterday? Are so immune to it?" he asked.
"Hakias taking over a human body is unheard of. I doubt even the head priest knows about it. My guess is they get a human host as a ans to bypass the countdown, but I can't be too sure."
Eri placed her hand on her chin. "Makes think just how many Hakias disguised as humans walk among us." She sighed. "I thought of reporting to the Duke, but there's no doubt the head priest has already spread bad news about us."
She then looked at Rashin and asked,
"You have the power to sense them, right?"
"Depends on the level of energy they emit. Yes."
"Good. Then we have absolutely nothing to worry about. If we end up killing the Fallen Ones, it won't take long before people start giving us recognition and respect. Haha! Let check how much ti we have left."
She stretched her staff to the front, and instantly, a faint golden light glowed. An hourglass appeared.
The sand had almost dropped to the bottom already.
The hourglass was a specific skill gifted from the angel to the priestesses to gauge the arrival of the Hakias, giving them ti to prepare beforehand.
It had already been one of humanity's greatest assets.
"Seems like we still have a bit of ti before the countdown begins."
Rashin stared at the hourglass. Though he had no idea what it was, he quickly put two and two together.
"Are you ready?" Eri smiled deviously.
"Eh? Ready for what?" Rashin asked.
"For the countdown, of course! I'm going to teach you everything you need to know about the Hakias."
She pulled closer, grabbing Rashin's hand with an excited smile on her face.
"With your power, I have no doubt we'll be greater than the heroes those other priestesses summoned. No, even greater than the church."
Rashin couldn't help but smile.
"For a priestess, you're quite revengeful."
"Are you mocking ?"
"Not really."
"Good! Now, let's kill so Hakias!"
