But she couldn’t hear.

She couldn’t hear anything anymore, only the footsteps of the Queen’s statue.

The entire world went silent, only the Queen’s footsteps grew louder and louder, like a cold tide sweeping over, about to drown her.

"Captain... Captain, save , save ..."

Su Zimai muttered, her body still slowly, step by step, retreating.

But suddenly, her legs gave way, and with a thud, she fell to the ground. The black Magic Hat fluttered down from above her head, but she was still wearing a Rustic Hat—this was just placed on her by Ke Qirui earlier.

Su Zimai panted heavily, flustered as she lay on the ground. She kicked her legs against the floor, inching her body backward, constantly shouting, "Don’t co closer!"

Yet, the Queen’s statue resembled a cold executioner, never halting its steps.

The giant shadow lood closer and closer.

Su Zimai had nowhere left to retreat; her back quickly pressed against the auction house’s wall.

She leaned against the wall, staring blankly upward, her trembling pupils reflecting the image of the Queen’s statue.

In this mont, the Rustic Hat atop Su Zimai’s head fell as well.

She held the hat helplessly, shivering all over, her lips trembling with hoarse cries:

"Captain... Captain, Captain, where are you? Please co save ..."

Slowly, the Queen’s statue stopped before her.

The giant statue gazed down at the girl from above, its falling shadow enveloping her entire form.

This proud girl lowered her head.

The second seed to pass very slowly, so slowly it felt like a century, and many thoughts flashed through Su Zimai’s mind.

The first to appear in her mind was Gu Qiye’s lancholy face.

She stared blankly, wondering if the night before last, she had obediently listened to her brother and not thrown a tantrum, but instead chose to go ho with him, would things have turned out differently?

If she had been a little more obedient.

Would she not have to die?

Her brother truly cared about her, yet she was unwilling to admit her mistakes for the sake of her pride, and instead, she hurt him...

Her mind kept replaying the image of Gu Qiye suppressing his anger, speaking to her in a soft voice, and at this mont, she suddenly felt her brother’s face getting farther and farther away, about to leave her behind.

I’m sorry, brother...

Thinking of this, Su Zimai’s eyes reddened.

She longed to see Gu Qiye one more ti, with so many words left unsaid to him.

As she thought, Gu Wenyu’s face suddenly appeared in her mind, the annoying, mischievous, but always shielding her, second brother.

Su Zimai suddenly rembered how, back in kindergarten when other children bullied her, Gu Wenyu would always rush over, shouting and driving away the others.

Then he would take her by the hand and lead her to play at the small park near the kindergarten.

As the sun set, the two would sit on the swings watching the crowd pass by, and when no one was around, Gu Wenyu would reach out and pat her head, awkwardly comforting her:

"Sis, you are such a big fool, always stubborn and unable to beat the others, and I can’t save you every ti."

At that ti, Su Zimai would wipe her tears, grit her teeth, look up, and irrationally say:

"But... but, didn’t you co?"

"What will you do if I’m not around in the future?" Gu Wenyu said, rolling his eyes helplessly at her.

"I can do it on my own!" Su Zimai said loudly, with tears of indignation in her eyes.

"Then don’t regret it!"

Gu Wenyu yelled back just as loudly, exasperated and about to leave, but at that mont, Su Zimai grabbed his arm. Gu Wenyu paused, turning to look at her lowered face.

She said nothing.

But in the end, Gu Wenyu didn’t leave, he silently sat back on the swings, quietly accompanying her for a while.

Back then, the night cloaked the quiet park like a velvet curtain.

In the darkness, the boy’s gentle voice softly echoed in her ear:

"Alright... I was lying to you just now. No matter how many tis, I’ll always co to save you."

"So, don’t cry anymore."

The cold flas continued to burn fiercely.

The Queen’s statue lowered its head, the blue flas in its eye sockets flickering, pulling Su Zimai back to the cold reality.

In the shadow cast by the giant statue, the girl slumped, trembling, curling up into a ball.

She murmured soundlessly:

"Brother... save ."

For so reason, the Queen’s statue raised its dagger but did not strike.

At this mont, Lan Duoduo’s sowhat exasperated voice ca from a distance, "Newbie, what are you doing? Kill that small fry quickly, and then co help !"

Xia Pingzhou’s silhouette remained still.

Unnoticed, a shadow suddenly appeared behind him.

Oda Takashige, clad in pitch-black ninja attire, erged from behind Xia Pingzhou, speaking in a lukewarm tone:

"Mr. Xia Pingzhou, do you need help? I have taken care of all the bodyguards in the fifth-floor hallway."

He paused, glancing toward Su Zimai in the distance: "If you’re not good at dealing with girls, I can take over."

Xia Pingzhou shook his head, replying expressionlessly:

"No need."

As soon as his words fell, the Queen’s statue moved, its dagger slashing down toward Su Zimai’s head.

Su Zimai watched the shadow on the ground, in which the giant statue swung its arm, the sharp object descending from above her head. But her throat was so hoarse that no sound could erge, not even a cry...

Slowly, she closed her eyes.

Yet in the darkness, no pain followed... the Queen’s dagger seed not to have struck her head.

After a long mont of bewildernt, Su Zimai slowly looked up, looking ahead.

Then she saw an astonishing scene: the Queen’s statue’s arms were tightly bound by multiple Pitch Black Restraints, unable to move. The dagger hovered a foot above Su Zimai’s forehead, reflected in her pupils.

The blue fla in the Queen’s eyes fluctuated, a hint of surprise appearing on its expression.

In the next second, both the Queen’s statue and Su Zimai looked up.

At this mont, a figure wrapped entirely in Pitch Black Restraints hung upside down from the ceiling, holding a Japanese light novel "My Little Sister Can’t Be This Cute."

Black Cocoon, eyes lowered, reading a book, turned the pages while eerily murmuring: "Oh, White Crow Travel Brigade scum... this young lady is my collaborator, I can’t let you kill her."

In the auction house, Lan Duoduo, Xu Sanyan, Lin Zhengquan, and Oda Takashige saw this scene out of the corner of their eyes.

They all paused for a mont.

anwhile, Su Zimai raised her tear-stained eyes, the blurred pupils slowly reflecting Black Cocoon’s face.

For so reason, she suddenly rembered Gu Wenyu’s mischievous smile from when they were children.

She held the hat in her arms, staring blankly at Black Cocoon’s figure, murmuring silently:

"...Brother?"
