In my view, the Tao Sect intends to use the war to let those young, inexperienced individuals experience the atmosphere of war. To put it simply, it’s a form of training... As for disciples from other sects, who knows, but those dozen or so inner and outer sect disciples are indeed sowhat arrogant, going too deep in. After all, they are still only at the Awakening Tier."
Lin Chu thought for a mont, "Maintain the rhythm of combat advancent, Lin Yuan, dear brother, I can only trouble you to go to the forefront and intervene when necessary."
...
Within Red Candle City, the battlefield was filled with smoke.
Following Lin’s Army, the contributors from the Fifth Corps of the sect, totaling fifteen individuals, were divided into one five-mber team, two three-mber teams, and two two-mber teams, making up five squads in total.
Once the city wall broke, they raced into the city, aiming to hunt those high-value targets first.
Such as the aristocratic estates, certain important industries of the Red Lustrous Clan, where encountering mbers of the clan was expected—even if it was just for a minute or two.
At this point, all city residents had already hidden away, and occasionally on the streets, soldiers could be seen hurriedly running with weapons in hand.
The disciples of the five squads of the sect naturally wouldn’t attack civilians; only those alien soldiers accidentally encountered were dealt with swiftly unless they were truly blocking their way. Their re release of aura would scare others to run losing their wits.
—After all, ordinary soldiers don’t have a shred of achievent to boast of.
"Ten minutes in, why can all high-tier Awakening enemies be counted on two hands?"
"Where are the mbers of the Red Lustrous Clan? Where are the stalwart defenders? It’s really hard, this high-stakes mission is truly hard!"
Still, there was a relatively calm sect disciple speaking up,
"Could we be going too deep? Given the scale of Red Candle City, there should at least be a Stepping Void Realm guarding it, with high-tier Awakening mbers definitely not few. Even if long-term peace has dulled their responses, by now, experts should be organized; we haven’t encountered many along the way. They might already have set up an ambush."
"Indeed." Another mber slowed down his pace and said, "At any mont, a hundred, two hundred, or even three hundred high-tier Awakening individuals might appear before us."
"But..." He scratched his head, "Why do I feel that three hundred high-tier Awakening individuals are nothing?"
"You’re getting overconfident."
"I once challenged the ’Peng City Battle’ in the Trial Tower’s space. With waves of enemies, various terrifyingly looking mutant beasts, there were far more than three hundred high-tier Awakeners."
"So, did you complete the ’Peng City Battle’?"
"No, ended up dead in the end."
"That’s precisely it; this is not the Trial Tower; there’s no resurrection here. We should be cautious." The prudent sect disciple spoke again, "Moreover, those terrifying-looking mutant beasts in the battle—oh, should be called ’Demonized Beasts’—are without intelligence, whereas the Red Lustrous Clan is different. They are high-level intelligent beings and a major mber of the Seven Lustrous Federation. Absolutely not to be underestimated, they might have aces we haven’t yet understood."
"You’re right. Elder Shay once said, ’Without sufficient strength, don’t act recklessly, especially when the situation is favorable.’ Although I don’t quite understand it so far..."
They were a five-mber squad, perhaps only mid-level in individual combat power within the Tao Sect, yet fully equipped.
Imdiately,
they flipped into an abandoned courtyard, suppressing their aura.
In the squad, a girl with chubby cheeks extended the antenna on her headband, closed her eyes, and manipulated her Source Power along a specific trajectory.
Monts later,
the girl opened her eyes, "I found the enemy!"
"How many?"
"We are surrounded, maybe a hundred, two hundred, or even three hundred, perhaps."
"..."
A mont of silence, then the composed young man in the squad spoke, "Prepare to et the enemy."
He glanced at the chubby-cheeked girl, who finally responded, "Ah, oh, enemies are relatively weak in the southeast direction."
The composed young man thought for a second: "Pretend to fight to the death, and be ready to break out in the southeast direction anyti."
Boom!
The courtyard wall broke apart, and in the dusty air, squads of figures encircled them from all directions.
In sight were ten leading mbers of the Red Lustrous Clan, their aura above the Awakening Tier’s eleventh layer.
Surrounding them were Bearn, Lizardn, gigantic Goblins, and other high-tier Awakening individuals.
Furthermore, there were even more middle-tier Awakening individuals, ard with crossbows, occupying so of the surrounding high positions.
Although comprised of various mbers from different races, with diverse appearances, akin to a mixed army, their fierce montum surged relentlessly.
Their equipnt was no longer like the simple gear of the Patrol Team.
Their crossbows were rune equipnt, with Armor-breaking Rune glows flickering on the arrows; high-tier Awakening Bearn and Lizardn also donned full sets of rune equipnt, a bit better than ordinary gear.
"Only five humans?"
The leading mber of the Red Lustrous Clan was disappointed. He thought he could catch so big fish with such grand effort, yet it turned out they were just so ordinary humans, without any Awakening Tier Perfection.
He didn’t know why the Human Race would suddenly attack Red Candle City, or where their nerve ca from—the changes at the higher levels weren’t quickly known to ordinary cities.
However,
he wasn’t interested in asking, waved his tentacles, "Kill them all."
Within the five-mber squad, the composed young man coolly glanced around, transmitting with spiritual power:
"The opponents aren’t taking us seriously, the surrounding high-tier Awakeners number only thirty or forty. Even including those crossbown, we have a chance... let’s first take down the leading Red Lustrous Clan mbers."
Middle-tier Awakened crossbown pulled the triggers, and a rain of Armor-breaking Rune Arrows enveloped the few opponents.
Normal rune plate armor couldn’t withstand Armor-breaking Arrows, even shields ford by Source Power would be pierced through by the arrows, an effective tool for besieging high-tier Awakeners.
"Scatter!"
The composed young man stomped the ground hard, his body flew like an arrow released from the bowstring, as dozens of Armor-breaking Arrows shot towards him, he drew his sword.
Bam~
The sword tip pinpoints several arrows, not exerting much force, but the next mont the Armor-breaking Arrows flew off.
The composed young man just managed to shoot out from the arrow rain with barely a centiter to spare.
"Qi Condensed Slash!"
He switched to gripping the sword with both hands, and forcefully executed the long-range combat skill he learned within the sect.
A white crescent-shaped sword light whooshed out, its brilliance stable and unscattered. As it slashed through, it easily sliced through the bodies of a dozen crossbown on the high ground, akin to slicing tofu. As the sword light was about to exit the crossbown’s group, the composed young man pressed his sword blade down further.
Boom!!
The white sword light exploded, affecting dozens of nearby crossbown, leaving another dozen crossbown dead on the spot.
The composed young man didn’t spare them a glance, sidestepping towards the closest Red Lustrous Clan mber.
Several high-tier Awakened Bearn and Lizardn rushed to attack him.
"All of them are flaws."
The composed young man’s sword montum shifted, and with two attacks, he swiftly sliced across the chest of a high-tier Awakened Bearman. The sturdy rune plate armor failed to block in the slightest, easily cut open, the longsword smoothly slashed a half-ter long, palm-deep wound into the Bearman’s chest.
Blood gurgled out.
With an unchanged expression, the composed young man’s figure flickered like an apparition.
In a brief span,
several high-tier Awakened aliens fell around him, either dead or dying, and his sword had also pierced into the flashing aura-filled Red Lustrous Clan mber.
A slice, a pull.
The Red Lustrous Clan mber’s aura wholly dimd, twitched a few tis on the ground, then fell completely silent.
The composed young man fell into silence.
He glanced towards other directions, where several comrades were also like him, crushingly killing high-tier Awakened aliens one by one.
The perceptive, chubby-cheeked girl even shattered the skulls of two high-tier Kobolds with a magic wand.
It was as effortless as killing a chicken.
It always felt wrong to the composed young man.
Weren’t they supposed to be surrounded?
Wasn’t the Red Lustrous Clan a legendary tribe?
Weren’t they supposed to fight bloody battles and then break out strongly, risking injuries?
He had already prepared for the possibility of being unable to break out, resorting to using the Return City Scroll.
But now...
A single longsword opened the way.
Wasn’t the opponent too weak? But he hadn’t overestimated their strength either!
Watching his comrades gleefully slaughtering, the composed young man ca to a realization.
No worries, just kill them, it’s all rit after all!
