1013: Chapter 101: The Volcano Crater Beneath the Butt 1013: Chapter 101: The Volcano Crater Beneath the Butt Gru adjusted his collar one last ti and stared at the elevator display panel showing the floor numbers.
Five, six, seven, eight—here it was.
The elevator doors opened.
Two female employees standing just outside were chatting but imdiately greeted Gru when they saw him.
Lisa’s assigned secretary for Gru stood to the side, slightly bowing as she handed over materials relevant to today’s eting.
If New Era were a kingdom, then West State was an independent fiefdom within it.
Gru, the vice president, was like a feudal prince.
His unique professional background often made his colleagues feel unconsciously pressured when dealing with him.
Nodding slightly at the two young won, Gru took the eting materials from his secretary.
His expression was stern.
“Mr.
Gru, of the four items on today’s agenda, two involve West State.
I’ve placed the relevant materials at the front, but according to the eting schedule, these two items will be addressed last.”
“Hmm, fine.
Have they all arrived?”
The “they” Gru referred to were his colleagues and higher-ups, specifically the senior executives at New Era.
“Lisa has already arrived.
The chairman doesn’t seem to be coming.
Chan and Benny appear to be in a eting.
You can wait in your office for now,” the secretary thoughtfully suggested.
Gru had both a personal secretary and a private office at New Era, but he didn’t care much for such superficial respects.
What the man wanted was power.
“No need.
Let’s go to the main conference room.
While others haven’t arrived yet, brief on the other two agenda items.”
The secretary quickly nodded, leading her direct superior straight to the large conference room.
As the two passed through the open office area, the atmosphere there seed to freeze.
Once Gru had walked past, the area quickly buzzed back to life.
Within New Era, Gru gave off the aura of a “quirky” senior executive, and he didn’t mind.
For those without competence, being called “quirky” ans they’re being bullied.
But for those with strength, they can scoff at such labels—or even smirk at them with disdain.
When the secretary pushed open the glass door of the conference room, they found that soone was already there.
Sheriff Gru surveyed the situation inside calmly and motioned for his secretary to scram quietly before sneaking over to sit next to Benny.
It carried the faint vibe of a mischievous student slipping into class late to occupy a seat in the back row.
“What’s going on?”
Gru asked Benny in a low voice, noting Temir—sitting at the head of the table, arms crossed, with a “I want you all dead” expression.
Benny raised his chin toward Cheng Daqi and Lisa, who were standing by the window chatting, and shook his head.
Gru seed to understand sothing—or maybe not.
Choosing to stay silent, he picked up the eting materials and started poring over them.
Benny, who didn’t have the docunts, casually snatched so pages from Gru’s hands and began reading intensely.
Gru, Benny: Just another diligent day at work~
anwhile, Cheng Daqi offered his own resolution.
“If you’re willing to stay on as General Manager of New Era, I’ll support you.
But if, in the future, things get unpleasant, my Faraday Future also needs a new president.
You happen to love cars, and Faraday Future happens to make them.
You know about Lao Jia’s situation—he’s unable to oversee operations on the ground here, so you’d be perfect for the role.”
Not all of life’s surprises co unannounced.
Cheng Daqi had long been aware of the issues between Lisa and Temir.
The only thing he didn’t anticipate was Lisa managing to hold back her temper until now before erupting.
This woman’s rationality was terrifying.
In the realm of Cthulhu, sheer reason alone could probably let her stare into the abyss of the Old Ones without flinching.
“What’s her stance?” the blonde woman asked.
Acting as a ssenger was out of the question; among won, passing ssages was a job fit for eunuchs.
Cheng Daqi sighed helplessly.
“You’ll have to ask her yourself.
Honest communication is the most efficient.
But either way, don’t stress too much—I’ve seen this coming for a while.
Besides, conflicts between friends are entirely normal.
In fact, only close friends are likely to clash like this.”
“Fine then.” Lisa turned back, glancing at Mi’er in the distance.
“What’s your decision?”
Lisa smiled faintly, her expression layered with aning.
“Let’s start the eting.
You’ve been neglecting OC lately.
Her ploy of using OC this ti is clearly intended to embarrass us.”
Noting Cheng Daqi and Lisa’s private conversation had finally wrapped up, Temir—seated at the head of the table—smiled with a touch of sarcasm.
“Mr.
President and Ms.
General Manager, do you harbor so secret complaints about as chairman?
Why not share them openly?
I welco your suggestions.”
Cheng Daqi ignored the passive-aggression entirely, diving straight into the eting process.
The internal power struggles never ceased.
If work stopped every ti there was conflict, nothing would ever get done.
“Not at all.
We were just coordinating so work.
Now that everyone’s here, let’s begin.
Mi’er, if you would.”
The black-haired businesswoman let out a cold snort as the two vice presidents engrossed in their docunts pretended not to hear, heads buried deep in reading.
“Heh.
Lisa, take the lead.
I’m just here to observe today.”
Lisa didn’t seem bothered.
She promptly called on the high-level executive, who held the title of OC’s General Manager but operated as a nominal Vice President of New Era, to kick off the OC-related discussion.
“At Chan’s suggestion and with Ms.
Lisa’s initiative, OC began shifting its marketing strategies half a year ago.
So far, the shift has achieved excellent results.
However…”
What kind of people were Benny and Gru?
They were old foxes—veterans of the trade.
Their noses were so sharp they could sniff out a dog turd from miles away.
