"Mom." Yun Qi smiled gently and slowly called out.

"Here you are." Su Wantang slightly raised the corner of her mouth into a curve, her voice very soft. Her beautiful starry eyes briefly assessed Ye Lingran, and a bit of satisfaction grew in her eyes, "You must be Ye Lingran! You’re even more beautiful than in the photos from the reports. Co in and have a seat!" As she spoke, she kindly took Ye Lingran’s hand and led her to the living room, looking toward the housekeeper, "Tell them to set the table for dinner!"

"Yes, madam." The housekeeper nodded and turned to head to the kitchen.

"You’ve co, no need to bring any gifts." After sitting down, Su Wantang learned that Ye Lingran had personally gone to pick out a gift for her that afternoon, and felt even more satisfied with her future daughter-in-law, smiling as she said, "Since your affair with Qi’er was reported online, I’ve been wanting to et you. However, Qi’er kept dissuading , so it got delayed until now."

"Auntie, what are you saying? It’s only right that I should be the one visiting you first." Ye Lingran felt a bit embarrassed hearing this, and relaxed her previously tense nerves. As Yun Qi had said, his mother was indeed easy to get along with, and even more gentle than Yun Qi himself.

Su Wantang, known as a lady from a scholarly family in Jiangnan, carried an air of elegance and grace in her manners. Even when she smiled, she never showed her teeth, as if proving the saying, ’With light or heavy makeup, she always looks wonderful.’

Yun Qi quietly sat on the sofa sipping coffee, listening silently to the conversation between the two.

"Lingran, what do your parents do?" Midway through the conversation, Su Wantang suddenly asked softly, her eyes carrying a hint of amusent.

"Both of my parents work in legal affairs."

"Oh, I see!"

"Madam, young master, the table is set." Su Wantang’s voice had just fallen when the housekeeper ca over to announce.

"Let’s go eat then!" Saying this, Su Wantang led Ye Lingran by the hand to the dining room. The dining room had a large round table with seven dishes on it, the presentation and arrangent of which resembled those in a Michelin-starred restaurant.

After they were seated, the servants left the dining room, and Su Wantang smiled and said, "I didn’t know what you liked to eat in advance, so I asked the kitchen to prepare a variety. See if there’s anything you like, and next ti I’ll rember and have the kitchen make it for you."

"Thank you, Auntie."

"No need to be so polite. From now on, we’re family, so you don’t need to be so formal at our ho."

"Yes."

"Since your relationship has already been made public, I’ve been discussing with Qi’er’s father lately whether we should find a ti to et your parents. If you’re not in a rush to get married, we can choose a good day to set the engagent, making it official." Halfway through the al, Su Wantang gently set down her chopsticks and wiped her mouth with a napkin. Her gentle gaze fell on Ye Lingran’s serene face, and she said with a smile.

Ye Lingran was taken aback upon hearing this and instinctively looked over at Yun Qi.

The two of them were rely pretending to be a couple. If the engagent were to actually go through, then it would beco real. How would they end it then?

Receiving Ye Lingran’s seeking gaze, Yun Qi smiled and said to Su Wantang, "There’s no hurry for this matter. Since the New Year is coming soon, I’ll visit her parents during that ti to discuss this with them. Once everything’s confird, both families can et. At least it won’t seem abrupt, and the engagent party should be scheduled for next year, otherwise, there’s not enough ti."

Listening to his orderly explanation, Ye Lingran’s mind wavered. Although she knew he was using it as an excuse to stall Su Wantang, she couldn’t help but feel her heart race slightly, with a sense of longing.

"That makes sense, but since you’ve already told the public that Lingran is your fiancée, people will talk if the engagent party isn’t held. Let’s wait until after the New Year for our families to et!" Su Wantang nodded in agreent with Yun Qi’s reasoning and smiled. "You two should discuss this yourselves and choose a suitable date as well."

"Alright." Yun Qi replied with a smile, glancing sideways at Ye Lingran.
