God-daughter!
Oliver's forehead was covered in even more cold sweat.
If Keira had such a powerful patron, what hope would the first branch of the family have?!
Where on earth did Lewis find such a wife? She was an illegitimate daughter to begin with, but her status soared all of a sudden!
He looked to Nathan for help.
But he saw Nathan cough and suddenly say, "Send a ssage to Selena, have her tidy up old Mrs. Horton's room a bit, and wait for our distinguished guest."
Oliver imdiately understood his aning and quickly took out his phone to send a ssage to Selena!
Next, he heard Lewis ask, "Uncle Olsen, are you having dinner here tonight?"
"No," Uncle Olsen said. "I heard that there's a famous private kitchen in Oceanion called Fragrance House, and Ellis has booked a spot for ."
Lewis nodded indifferently and looked toward the courtyard ahead.
He saw the affection that Uncle Olsen had for Mrs. Olsen and was quite touched by his one-sided protection of Isla at the beginning.
He knew Keira didn't care about these things.
But since Uncle Olsen was, after all, also his half-ntor, Lewis didn't want to put him in a difficult position.
If he wanted to et, then let him et Keira.
A group of people swaggered into old Mrs. Horton's courtyard, and at that mont, Jake was alone in the living room.
No one paid attention to him as they walked straight to old Mrs. Horton's bedroom.
When Lewis pushed open the door, Uncle Olsen's gaze imdiately darted inside.
However, he saw only Mr. Lee, a man, and Fiona, a fifty-year-old maid, in the room. Aside from these two, there was no one else.
Uncle Olsen was slightly stunned and frowned.
Lewis also looked at Fiona with confusion. "Where is Keira?"
Fiona said, "Just now, Miss Selena said that old Mrs. Horton's dicine was missing an ingredient, so she took Miss Keira out to buy it."
Upon hearing this, Oliver let out a huge sigh of relief.
The ssage he had just sent to Selena wasn't actually about welcoming a distinguished guest but to have her send Keira away, to prevent Keira from encountering Uncle Olsen.
After all, this was the Horton residence. If Keira complained to Uncle Olsen and he were to erupt on the spot, what would he do?!
There was certainly a gap between the Horton family and the Clance Olsen family, not to ntion Uncle Olsen's fa for having influence in both the underworld and legitimate businesses!
It was better that Keira wasn't here...
He said, "That's really unfortunate..."
Lewis, however, scoffed.
Uncle Olsen also narrowed his eyes, looking displeased as he asked, "They went out to buy dicine. How long until they return?"
Before Fiona could answer, Mr. Lee smiled. "The dicine I need here is quite a lot, and they likely won't find everything in one pharmacy, so it'll be a while..."
Uncle Olsen scoffed coldly but still suppressed his anger.
He glanced at old Mrs. Horton, exchanged a few words with Lewis, and without staying any longer, got into his car and left. "To Fragrance House."
...
anwhile, Keira had been suddenly grabbed by the arm by Selena and taken out through the back door, then led around to various pharmacies to pick up dicine.
By the ti they reached the third pharmacy, Keira said casually, "Uncle Olsen has already left, can we go back now?"
Selena stiffened slightly. "Aunt Keira, what are you talking about? I don't understand..."
Keira scoffed. "That suitcase of yours, it's bigger than Isla's, isn't it?"
Selena was startled, "What?"
"You can fit more bullshit in it than she does!"
"..."
Selena, unbothered by the scolding, still smiled warmly. "Auntie, I really am looking for dicine for Great-grandma. If you don't want to stay with , just leave; I can go by myself."
Keira, not wanting to waste more words, turned and left the pharmacy.
She checked the ti, hailed a taxi by the roadside, and went to Fragrance House.
Emboldened by the dicine she obtained through Mr. Lee's theft, Selena was doing as she pleased within the Horton family; Keira knew she had to suppress Selena's arrogance.
However, the most urgent matter was to find out whether Corey Mills was in any way connected to Lee's theft of the dicine.
If Dean Mills was involved, he could forget about retaining his position!
With these thoughts, Keira arrived at Fragrance House.
As soon as she entered, she saw Corey Mills sitting idly at a dining table outside, waiting for her.
Keira walked straight up to him.
Corey Mills was about forty years old, and his lengthy research career had left his skin sowhat pale; he was on the heavier side, which made him appear slightly younger.
Mills stood up with a smile, "Director Nora, you've finally arrived!"
Keira sat down opposite him.
Mills then handed her a box of dicine. "This is the dicine you asked for."
He also took out a printed docunt and handed it to her.
It listed all the cases that their institute had received to be selected, with each person's basic health condition clearly docunted.
Mills said, "These are the individuals who et our screening criteria; you can decide on the candidates."
Keira looked at him. "Dean Mills, is there a researcher nad Lee at the Clance Research Institute?"
Mills was caught off guard. "There are several people with that na, may I ask which one you are referring to?"
Keira fixed her gaze on him. "The one related to the Cobb family."
Mills' eyes were honest, showing no sign of lying. "Oh, you an Logan Lee. He has been busy at the institute recently and just took ten days of annual leave!"
Seeing that he was completely unaware of the situation, Keira scoffed. "Then are you aware that he is now in Oceanion?"
Mills was shocked. "What? He's in Oceanion? Is he here on vacation? I really didn't know about this..."
Realizing sothing was off, he asked, "Director Nora, has sothing happened?"
Keira snorted. "It's just that soone suddenly showed up at the Horton's, claiming to have obtained an experintal slot, and is now strutting around there."
Mills stood up abruptly. "How is that possible?! The slots haven't been made available to the public yet; where did he get one?!"
Keira looked at him, remaining silent.
Mills' forehead imdiately broke out in a cold sweat. "Director Nora, I understand what you an. I'll look into it right away!"
Having said that, he didn't even dare to stay for the al and hurried off to investigate the matter.
Keira sat there leisurely.
Since she was here, she might as well stay for a al before leaving.
Her seat was facing the entrance of the restaurant, so she ate while enjoying the view outside.
Suddenly, a black luxury car pulled up in front of the door.
An instant later, a man in a black cape strode in.
Keira looked at him curiously.
The man exuded a stern air, appearing to be in his forties or fifties, his maturity radiating a distinguished charm; he was rather handso!
Keira found him quite pleasing to the eye, so she took a longer look.
Uncle Olsen, who had just entered, quickly caught the gaze and turned his head to look over, only to see a young woman watching him with an admiring eye.
But when Uncle Olsen got a clear view of the face, he suddenly froze in place!!
