Chapter 1726: Chapter 1643: Unlucky Rookie

When Xiang Ziyu landed, the surroundings were already very noisy: a Dwarf’s machine gun emplacent was firing madly, suppressing the paratroopers landing around it.

“Damn it, how co there are so many fortifications here?” Xiang Ziyu complained while taking down the rifle from his chest. Although they had seen photos of the defensive works near Saint Luo beforehand, he only realized in person that the enemy’s defensive positions were indeed very densely built.

“Rocket launcher!” A Tang Army soldier shouted loudly from afar, and in the next second, a white light flashed by, blasting the Dwarf machine gun emplacent that was constantly spitting fire into the air.

The raised gravel fell, hitting Xiang Ziyu’s helt. He squinted, trying to identify his location through the dust.

“Wind and rain!” A nearby figure shouted the code, and Xiang Ziyu instinctively answered quickly, “Thunder!”

His subordinate slid next to him, supporting his steel helt, greeted, “Commander! Need help?”

“Do you know the location of the communications soldier?” Xiang Ziyu removed the cumberso parachute backpack and tossed the spare parachute from his chest.

“I just landed too! Commander! There are seven or eight brothers over there…” The soldier pointed in a direction. Xiang Ziyu strapped on his backpack, checked the condition of his gun, and moved the monocular night vision device to the front of his eyes, “Let’s go and join them… Our company’s mission is to infiltrate the airport from the west side! Follow !”

The two bent their waists, bypassing an empty trench and found more than a dozen paratroopers scattered around. After assembling briefly, they oriented themselves and started moving toward the airport.

They had experienced this kind of situation too many tis to be flustered at all. The surrounding gunfire represented further chaos on the enemy’s part, and as long as they figured out a way to complete their task, the enemy would crumble.

“Wind and rain!” The soldier at the front suddenly squatted down, raised his weapon and shouted toward a suspicious location. Yet two seconds later, there was still no response from the other side…

“Wind and rain!” The soldier helplessly shouted again, but this ti, the response was gunfire from the opposite side. Bullets grazed his head, and the sound of a Mosin-Nagant Rifle echoed in the night sky.

“Fire!” Xiang Ziyu saw through the night vision device that those heat sources weren’t their own people, and imdiately shouted.

“Rat-a-tat-tat!” Without the slightest hesitation, the soldier began firing. Bullets hit the wild grass, breaking blades and sending them flying everywhere.

Xiang Ziyu gestured behind him, then led the way to the other side. He ran hunched over for seven or eight ters, stopped, and raised his rifle toward the enemy’s position.

The nearby paratrooper pulled a hand grenade from his chest, disengaged the safety, counted silently for a second, and threw it out, imdiately shouting a warning to the allied troops nearby, “Hand grenade!”

“Boom!” “Boom!” Two explosions almost simultaneously sounded, a haze rose where the Tang Army had just been. The firing Tang Army paratroopers were blown over by the blast, and there was no more sound from the opposite grass.

With the night vision device, Xiang Ziyu could see very clearly. He strode into the midst of the Dwarves still trying to rise and started firing downward.

The targets providing heat around him all fell silent after being hit. Only then did Xiang Ziyu begin to reload the magazine and shout behind him, “Anyone wounded?”

“Check on Liu Tao!” Not hearing a response, Xiang Ziyu continued to order while chambering a round into his rifle.

“Little Liu is wounded! He’s covered in blood! Damn it!” a paratrooper went over, moved to where the forward soldier had been, and saw the comrade who had been directly hit by a grenade, “He’s passed out! Co help! I can’t see the wound!”

“Wood! Go help! Big Li, keep watch!” Xiang Ziyu commanded swiftly, and those hearing the order imdiately moved over.

Just then, soone in the distance shouted the code, “Wind and rain!”

“Thunder!” Xiang Ziyu also recognized the newcor, for the Tang Army formation has a unique characteristic, minimizing the chance of friendly fire.

“He shouldn’t have been the point man! If it were , I would have realized sothing was wrong.” A paratrooper, nicknad Wood, complained regretfully while pressing Liu Tao’s wound. Liu Tao was a new supplent soldier who hesitated twice on the code. If it had been a veteran, even a slight delay from the opponent might have allowed bullets to sweep by.

Among the newly converged soldiers was a dic. He moved over, took out gauze and tools from his pocket, “Illuminate! I need to find the wound! Directional flashlight!”

“You few stay behind! The rest, follow ! See those iron fences up ahead? Climb over, and we’re at the airport!” Seeing the buildings not far away, Xiang Ziyu decided not to concern himself with the wounded supplent soldier anymore.

To him, supplent soldiers were just replacents, and a loss was just a loss — it’s not that he lacked empathy, but there was simply no ti to think about sympathy on the battlefield.

The target was within reach; he had to complete the mission. That’s the Great Tang Paratrooper! Violently destroying the airport’s fence, a team of paratroopers navigated through the dark, reaching the runway filled with planes.

At this mont, on the other side, paratroopers also began to infiltrate the airport. The Dwarf soldiers on alert finally saw the enemy closing in.

“Tang Army! Enemy attack!” A Dwarf soldier raised his rifle, aid at the distant silhouette, and pulled the trigger. More shouted loudly, warning their comrades nearby that the enemy was right in front of them.

“Bang!” Just-lit spotlights on the rooftop of the airport building were shattered by bullets, followed by continuous gunfire. The anti-aircraft machine gun manned by Dwarves on the rooftop began firing, indiscriminately pouring fire onto suspicious targets below.

The building interior was lit, and through the windows, Tang Army soldiers could see a row of parked cars. These cars looked nothing like those used by field units, as they were all luxury sedans.

“Hey! Might have caught a big fish!” A Tang Army paratrooper loaded a gun grenade into the launcher, raised his rifle, and aid at the distant target, “Grenade!”

“Thump!” With a dull sound, the grenade was launched, landing within the rooftop machine gun emplacent. Quickly followed by an explosion, the machine gun emplacent was blasted away, and Dwarves manning the rooftop machine guns fell, crashing down in front of the illuminated building entrance.
