Vankelus’s car slowly parked at the field airport on the eastern side of Saint Luo, where 80 recently reinforced airplanes and 80 brave pilots were stationed.

The ground crew was inspecting these airplanes. Since they were all old models from the World War II era, the workload was not too heavy.

As the highest commander near Saint Luo, Vankelus planned to rely on these pilots to risk their lives and harass the Tang Army, buying him enough ti, so he ca personally this ti, bringing good food and drinks to reward these pilots who were about to experience the cruelty of the battlefield.

In fact, these pilots were not elites, as the most elite pilots in the Allied Forces were flying jets. Those who still piloted old-fashioned airplanes were mostly rookies who had just learned to fly.

However, despite this, they were still very brave; even knowing they were on a near-suicidal ground mission, they showed no hesitation.

As a fortress port built by the Dwarves near the border, Saint Luo had a relatively sufficient supply of materials, so Vankelus was not stingy: he ca personally, bringing chefs from the city and quite a bit of at and vegetables.

Additionally, he also brought a lot of alcohol, which, compared to army supplies, could be considered quite luxurious.

"Co! Please raise your glasses! Here, I wish all of you to fight bravely and return victorious!" Vankelus, wearing a general’s uniform, raised his glass and loudly blessed the 80 pilots in the canteen.

The pilots stood up one after another, also raising their glasses. So were still chewing beef, their cheeks bulging.

"For His Majesty The Emperor!" "For His Majesty The Emperor!" It was unclear which His Majesty they were referring to, but everyone shouted the slogan together.

"General, it is already late... For your safety, you should return to the city." The Captain of the Guard responsible for Vankelus’s safety found an opportunity to gently remind him by whispering in his ear.

The Tang Army had a successful case of special forces surprise attacks; one of the commanders of the Tang Army, Ying An, was captured in such a raid.

The Qin Army had shared this case with the countries of the Eastern Continent before, hoping commanders from all countries would take heed and avoid repeating the mistakes of Qin Country.

"I understand. Let’s wait a bit longer, and then we’ll leave." Vankelus was not a tough guy, and he would naturally not insist on risking his life. So he nodded in agreent and said, "A final toast to them, you can prepare the car..."

"Yes, General." The Captain of the Guard nodded slightly, then left the canteen, ca to the hallway, and instructed the driver outside the door: "Bring the car over to prepare to take the General back to the city."

At this mont, the air raid alarm at the airport suddenly sounded. The piercing noise made the Captain of the Guard frown, looking discontentedly at the airport guards nearby: "What’s going on? Why the sudden alarm?"

"I don’t know either." The Dwarf Guard looked bewildered, for he was just a duty guard, standing here all along, how could he know what was happening outside?

"What are you waiting for! Quickly gather the guards! Then go start the car!" Seeing the driver still standing beside him, the Captain of the Guard sternly ordered: "Go quickly!"

He saw the driver run off before he pushed the door open and returned to the canteen. By now, the feast had stopped; everyone heard the alarm, and naturally, no one was interested in drinking anymore.

The Captain of the Guard quickly went to Vankelus’s side and started talking: "We don’t know why the alarm sounded. I have ordered the driver to start the car. The guard unit is next door, so there’s no need to worry."

"Find out exactly what’s going on... Whether it’s a Tang Army air raid or sothing else." Vankelus ordered with dissatisfaction: "What’s going on, for such a thing to happen at this ti."

The commander of the airport looked embarrassed; he had been drinking and had no idea what was happening. So he could only sit there and wait for the officers on duty to bring back the news.

A group of pilots could only look at each other in dismay; they had just been drinking, and forget flying a combat mission now; it was difficult to even walk in a straight line. Expecting them to go out and fight was a little difficult; letting them continue drinking might be better.

"It could be a night air raid by the Tang Army, or... an alarm malfunction." Finally, the airport commander mustered up the courage and briefly explained the current situation: "The front lines are like this; you never know when sothing unexpected will happen."

"It’s alright." Vankelus forced himself to appear calm and magnanimous: "Everyone knows, the alarm will be lifted shortly."

To be honest, he no longer wanted to stay here; no matter what, he would get in the car and leave soon. This incident was enough to make him alert.

"Tutu-tutu!" Mingled with the alarm sound, a faint, continuous gunfire drifted in, so heard a little, so didn’t hear clearly.

"Did we just hear gunfire?" The sober Captain of the Guard looked at Vankelus’s adjutant. His hand was already on his holstered pistol, imdiately adding to the tension.

Vankelus’s adjutant frowned, tilted his head to listen carefully, then shook his head: "Hmm? Gunfire? Was there any? Didn’t hear it."

Vankelus had also drunk a little, so he wasn’t sure if he had heard gunfire either, but he still felt this wasn’t a place he could stay any longer: "Where’s the car? Let’s return to the city."

"Bang!" The distinct crack of a Mosin-Nagant Rifle suddenly ca through, and everyone heard it that ti. The Captain of the Guard imdiately drew his pistol and shielded Vankelus: "General! To next door!"

His guard was right next door, and the car would likely be ready soon, so whether to leave or stay, there would be a choice.

Just then, even the alarm couldn’t cover up the explosion, making everyone aware of the serious problem. An air raid wouldn’t involve gunfire, so it was very likely that the mysterious special forces unit of the Tang Army was in action.

"Tutu-tutu!" The unique sound of the assault rifle of the Tang Army continuously ca through; the air raid alarm didn’t seem as piercing as before. The Maxim machine guns deployed at the defensive positions near the airport roared into life, and tracer bullets ford a line in the pitch-black night.

The Dwarf Guard units inside the airport still didn’t know what was going on. They only saw fierce fighting on the periter, completely unaware of whom their brother units were engaging with...
