A Yir Attack Aircraft was flying close to the ground, already pushing to its maximum speed, as if it was about to crash into the ground at any mont.
It swept over the forest, the roaring engine catching the attention of the Dwarf Troops, who were all exhilarated because their Air Force courageously took action again today.
Waving their arms, these dwarves, high on their chemical enhancents, shouted excitedly, cheering for the pilot who couldn’t even hear them.
"Howl!" They had forgotten the slogan that once brought them endless glory, forgotten the "Ura" the humans bestowed upon them. They were rely instinctively letting out animalistic cries, venting the excitent in their hearts.
After the aircraft swept over the forest, it was imdiately enveloped in a barrage of dazzling Tracer Bullets. Dense shells exploded near the aircraft, forming a barrage that engulfed the seemingly brand new plane.
Countless fragnts pierced through the aircraft’s engine, crackling against the bulletproof steel plates; the battered fuselage shattered within two seconds, leaving only half, which then plumted to the ground.
There was no ti to react at all, as the Tang Army’s radar-equipped self-propelled Anti-Aircraft Gun locked onto the invading plane within an astonishingly short ti, and aid its twin barrels at the target.
The operator didn’t even need to engage in the targeting process, only needing to make the decision to fire or not. The Anti-Aircraft Gun would respond imdiately, delivering a brief burst.
There was absolutely no need for continuous firing; the fully automated Anti-Aircraft Gun could calculate the lead based on the target’s speed and flight path, and fire at the most reasonable angle.
anwhile, the finely crafted proximity fuze could ensure the shells ford a precise coverage over the target area, making it seem as if the opposing aircraft had crashed into a wall.
Impenetrable steel balls would spread with the explosion, forming a seamless area; those balls could damage the engine, penetrate the cockpit, or destroy the aircraft’s structure.
Overall, the entire process was extrely brief, so brief that the pilot of the low-altitude Yir Attack Aircraft wasn’t even aware he was already dead when his corpse smashed onto the ground.
The Tang Army had strengthened the frontline air defense firepower, deploying a three-layer air defense network of long, dium, and short-range. The long-range relied on Early Warning Aircraft paired with Fighter Jets to intercept enemy targets, the mid-range used various models of air defense Missiles, and the inner layer depended mainly on Man-Portable Air Defense Missiles and Anti-Aircraft Guns.
This setup was nothing fresh, having been developed long ago, simply ignored until now.
In particular, the mid-range air defense system had been neglected by the Tang Army commanders, having never experienced the tragic necessity brought by enemy air raids, thus showing reluctance in deploying field air defense Missiles to the frontline promptly.
Now, they had learned from experience, starting to utilize the previously unnoticed air defense units, forming a defense network that should have been airtight.
The downing of that aircraft did nothing to dampen the Dwarves’ zeal for the attack; they continued to cross the woodland, aiming to assault the Tang Army defenses on the other side of the forest.
This defensive line was quite interesting, with both sides establishing positions across the woodland—one side because of the easy resupply behind them, the other because they couldn’t push any further.
Now, the Dwarves launched an attack again, attempting to drive the humans on the other side out, but this ti the assault was clearly not going smoothly.
A mortar shell exploded on the damp forest floor, hurling up a splash of mud. Dwarves were flung to the ground by the explosion, so getting up to continue forward, others lying still.
Soon, bullets erged from the shrubs on the other side, Tracer Bullets splintering tree trunks, with dwarves getting hit by bullets and blasted by shells—a horrific massacre began.
Explosion snapped a not-so-sturdy large tree, with the trunk crashing down to block the path of advancing dwarven soldiers. They didn’t care about the sounds of their comrades beneath the trunk, but bypassed it to continue forward.
While maneuvering around the fallen trunk, more soldiers were hit and fell, blood splashing on others, yet still no attention was paid.
Perhaps those dwarf soldiers didn’t see a hellscape of gunfire and bullets but a peaceful playground—a sky filled with red rain and glowing flowers growing on the ground; everything was so beautiful, srizing them.
Hence, they felt no fear, moving with vigor. They climbed over the bodies of their companions, continuing to shout, charging madly towards the distant and unreachable Tang Army defense line.
The soldiers approaching the Tang Army line fell one after another, and those farther away filled in, but the distance between the two armies was never closed, always a 200-ter gap in between...
Sotis madness could solve problems, but sotis no amount of madness could make a difference—as useless as soone’s rage before a math problem they couldn’t solve.
The dwarves slamd into a steel-frad defense line, their bodies torn and bleeding, unable to move the Tang Army defense line regardless of their sacrifices.
Hundreds of lives were thus extinguished here, yet even the most ordinary soldier of the Tang Army felt no regret, knowing that dwarves under the influence of Black Crow No. 3 had no future, even if they survived.
Ever since they were coerced or deceived into using Black Crow No. 3, their lives effectively ended at that mont. Even if the war ended and they lived until then, there would be no good outco for them.
Thus, killing them here was the kindest solution, granting them the best possible ending. They didn’t even feel pain, remaining exalted and fearless in the second before death.
"Fire! Let them taste our strength!" On the position, the Tang Army squad leader loudly ordered his soldiers to unleash their ammunition.
Behind them was a road with supply trucks, allowing them to obtain ample ammunition whenever needed, without ever having to worry about logistics.
Further behind, there were tanks and armored vehicles supporting their fight, followed by self-propelled Anti-Aircraft Guns and Man-Portable Air Defense Missile positions, and behind those were countless self-propelled artillery pieces...
