Capítulo 1644: Chapter 1561: Dwarf Workers

A truck sped along the uneven road, a road that was originally filled with craters large and small, now barely patched up for use.

Inside the truck sat several soldiers clutching weapons, and beside them were Dwarf civilians dressed in various outfits.

These civilians were workers willing to help the Tang Army, who established a repair factory outside of Ben to quickly repair so damaged battlefield vehicles.

On one side of the road was a factory still smoking, its buildings collapsed, while a Tang Army soldier examined the damage to the factory.

“A Scud attacked here yesterday… but it’s okay, it’s still relatively safe here,” explained the Tang Empire officer escorting the Dwarfs, making Buck even more anxious.

In the afternoon, he sent his “salary” ho, his wife’s face filled with disbelief: they had never seen so much food, let alone delicacies like sausage and cans of at.

After demonstrating several tis how to open the canned at, Buck and the soldiers escorting him finally left. Before leaving, the Tang Empire soldiers assured Buck’s wife that he could return early tomorrow morning.

Buck also comforted his wife, not knowing what he was going to do, but it was clear that if they really intended for him to die, they wouldn’t give him so much food and canned goods.

Eventually, he and a few other workers arrived at an airport in the outskirts, the first Tang Army site he ever saw and the place where his friend died.

Seeing the airport again, Buck was shocked to discover it had changed; the runway seemingly reinforced with sturdy cent, distant buildings had collapsed, but nearby a tent area was established.

A row of helicopters was parked on one side of the runway, roughly counted there were so twenty or thirty, and many people busily surrounded these helicopters, seemingly loading ammunition onto them.

On the other side of the airport was a giant aircraft larger than a house, Buck swore he had never seen such a huge plane; just sitting there, it filled Buck with fear.

The giant aircraft had opened its rear hatch, and a group of Tang Empire soldiers was carefully unloading secured cargo from the plane. Clearly, the items were of high value.

Indeed, they were: the airlifted cargo consisted of equipnt to rebuild the airport, enabling it to swiftly resu operational capabilities; so were machinery parts, others directly sent airplane components.

This Il-76 transported helicopter engines, sent to the frontline as spare parts; with these engines, helicopter operational rates would significantly increase.

“Efficiency is pretty high! Found people already?” joked a Tang Army soldier at the checkpoint after verifying the ID cards of Tang Army soldiers escorting the Dwarfs.

“You have no idea how anxious that group of maintenance staff is, calling multiple tis a day to hurry us up,” comnted the Tang Empire officer, pointing to the rear: “Let’s get to work.”

“Everyone off the truck! Everyone off the truck!” shouted the Tang Army soldier responsible for the checkpoint, and upon hearing the order, the Tang Army soldiers dismounted, followed by the Dwarfs jumping off one by one.

Standing in formation next to the truck, Buck was surprised to find a Tang Army soldier at the front with a cara pointed at them, taking photos.

He didn’t know what this was for, but he had seen caras before; they were expensive, and only the factory manager had one, reportedly purchased for a hefty sum.

“They all look the sa… how is this even done?” complained the Tang Army photographer after photographing three Dwarfs: “All bearded, ID photos are pointless.”

Though the ID photos on Tang Empire docunts were already very clear and in color, these Dwarfs all had big beards, and aside from beard styles, there were no distinct features.

What was even more absurd was that the beards were so long that most Dwarf ID photos couldn’t capture the edges of the beards, making identification even harder.

“What can we do, what other choice is there?” sighed the leading Tang Empire officer, helplessly shrugging: “Either I send these people back, or you explain the difficulties to logistics.”

“Click!” Without further ado, the photographer soldier resud his job with the cara. Joking aside, the logistics troops were already overwheld, causing trouble now would probably earn him five kilos of plane antifreeze before they let him leave…

When Buck’s turn ca, unsure what expression to make, he awkwardly hesitated, three parts terrified, seven parts uncomfortable, leaving a big face in the lens that would often beco a subject of ridicule later.

The Tang Army was restoring production near Ben while expanding their occupation area, focusing on compressing the 2nd Corps’ positions of Dwarfs to the west, achieving considerable success.

Harev’s troops had been compressed within the 1st and 2nd positions, having lost a significant number of artillery, unable to threaten the Tang Army from the west.

Without these troops’ interference, the Tang Army amassed large forces to launch attacks south and east, increasing pressure on the Dwarf 1st Corps and the newly arrived 4th Group Army.

Buck soon arrived at a temporary warehouse with so machinery, where he and his companions passed a simple test and were kept on.

As required, they would produce so simple parts to replace the wear-prone components on military trucks. After busying themselves for four to five hours, they were amazed at the food brought to them.

During the day, Tang People’s own technical personnel supervised production, while Buck and his group were brought in for the night shift. The night shift offered dinner, served around midnight; essentially a canteen-prepared al with two vegetarian dishes and one at dish, stacked on a disposable dish.

Buck had never eaten such good food before; the people with him clearly hadn’t experienced such gourt, devouring it so enthusiastically that Buck felt embarrassed watching.

Subsequently, their work efficiency increased sowhat; after all, they felt obliged to earn the comndable “midnight snack” they had just devoured.

As dawn approached, they received their personal ID cards, allowing them to face patrol checks without concern.

Then they all boarded the truck ho, enduring bumps along the way, returning ho before breakfast.

——

Today my wife and son returned ho, busy for the day, only one update, pardon .
