"I thought you were dead." Buck said awkwardly to his good friend, "Do you know about Tommy’s situation..."

"Yes." The friend’s na is Muri, and hearing this question, he nodded with so sadness, "I later saw him... damn, his stomach was all bloody, he was already dead when I found him."

Buck was sowhat surprised, as in his mind, Muri should be dead like Tommy two days ago: "Why are you here?"

Muri scratched his head awkwardly, "I, I got caught later, and then... I went to the warehouse with them, well, I took them to the warehouse, they let handle so small tasks..."

"You’re working for them?" Buck looked at the long queue, filled with disdain.

Muri knew that what he was doing might be looked down upon by his friend, but he still emphasized weakly, "Yes, I think there’s nothing shaful about it."

"I think it’s very shaful." Buck couldn’t quite understand his friend’s choice.

Muri was instantly a bit angry, stressing the justice of working for the humans, "At least they’re not treating like those damned nobles! Though I also feel this isn’t quite right, but my whole family needs to eat, right."

Unfortunately, from the perspective of a dwarf, his explanation seed to have no effect.

But Buck was soon distracted by another point and asked off-topic, "They’re feeding you?"

"Yes, they gave food, and extra... canned goods, candies..." Muri recalled his "salary," these things let his whole family live in peace for two days.

The sounds of gunfire and cannon outside also beca less terrifying because of these food items—at least, they’re far better off than being oppressed and exploited by those dwarf nobles in the past.

"Looks like you’re doing pretty well now." Buck said half sarcastically, half enviously.

Muri wasn’t sure if he was boasting or retaliatory, but he repeated, "Far better than before."

"Muri! Do you know him?" A soldier from Tang Empire afar looked over and shouted.

Buck saw Muri answering the question and also asked, "Is this your new friend?"

"Sort of..." Muri boasted, when in fact, the other party was his imdiate superior, and he had to work under their supervision...

"Muri! Ask your friend if he wants to find a job! Co here to handle the food distribution, like you, he can also take an extra share. If he agrees, you can take one more." The Tang Army soldier with a gun smiled and gave Muri a surprise.

"Really? Thank you, thank you!" Muri heard the last part and imdiately showed an excited expression on his face, "Did you hear what he said? Work with , distribute food to all the dwarves in the warehouse! How about it?"

Buck ignored Muri’s excitent and continued to ask, "Are they really planning to distribute all the food here?"

In his view, opening the warehouse for grain is pretty much madness; dwarf nobles always extort and collect, never returning what’s once in their mouths.

Now the people of Tang Empire must be crazed to distribute the collected grain: since the sin is soone else’s, shouldn’t stuffing the profits into one’s pocket be the standard operation?

Muri nodded, affirmatively replied, "That’s right, they really distributed it all morning, I saw it myself."

He had been busy here for several hours, from the start where no one believed it, to now where so many people have co by word of mouth, he witnessed it all personally.

Actually, even after distributing for several hours this morning, the warehouse’s grain hadn’t decreased much—the dwarves stored far too many supplies here to fight off the Tang Army.

"To all dwarves?" Buck was already a bit swayed, feeling that simply seeing them as enemies might not be quite accurate.

Muri nodded continuously, "Yes, to all dwarves."

After a brief ideological struggle, Buck made his judgent, "If it’s just about distributing to the dwarves, I think I can help... but I need to go back and tell Mary."

In his view, if distributing grain to dwarves, preventing them from starving, it isn’t betrayal against dwarves.

Muri saw his friend agree, so quickly nodded, "Of course! You can take potatoes back!"

"No need to queue?" Buck was surprised once again.

Muri mischievously patted his chest with a smug look, "You know , what queue? Didn’t you hear that gentleman say? He promised you a job!"

"I have a job, I’m a worker." Buck struggled a little bit with himself in the end.

When he said this, it happened to be overheard by a passing Tang Army officer. The officer imdiately stopped and looked at the dwarf, "You’re a worker?"

"..." Buck didn’t know what to say, while Muri was also dumbfounded. In his view, anyone with stars on their shoulder is a big shot within the Tang Army, soone he could only look up to.

Seeing Buck not speak, the officer continued to ask, "Can you operate machinery?"

"Of course." Buck answered the question this ti.

The officer smiled, "Not bad, the work here may not suit you, give him double rations, then bring him aboard!"

"What?" Buck, startled, followed the officer’s gaze towards a jeep in the distance.

The officer explained briefly, "It’s nothing, they lack so workers at the airport, you’ve been selected. If you can handle the work there, they’ll supply you according to one-third of the ground crew’s standard! Potatoes and flour are plenty, and you’ll even get a sausage!"

"Got it! You’re lucky, buddy! What’s your na?" Upon hearing his captain say this, the Tang Army soldier maintaining order imdiately looked at Buck and said with a smile.

Buck was already starting to stutter, "Ba-Buck."

"Don’t be nervous, have you heard of Lord Mathews from Tang Country?" The Tang officer ntioned soone viewed as a hero by many dwarves.

"He-Heard of..." As a worker, Buck naturally regarded the "god of craftsmanship’s wrench" as his idol. Indeed, His Majesty The Emperor of the Great Tang Empire was seen as the god of craftsmanship among many dwarves, and as his assistant, Dwarf Mathews beca the "god of craftsmanship’s wrench."

The Tang officer smiled, patting Buck on the shoulder, "You now fall under his managent, you’re becoming a worker in the Great Tang Empire, understand?"

"Und-Understood..." Buck instantly felt a sense of upgrading.

The car was already approaching, and the officer got into the front passenger seat, "Let Buck lead the way, let’s go ho with him, let him arrange matters at ho, then we’re heading to the airport! Set off!"
