Chapter 1447: Chapter 1364: Assassination of the Pri Minister
In the capital of the Laines Empire, Laines, a conspicuous Rolls-Royce car was parked at the gates of the Imperial Palace.
The Pri Minister of the Laines Empire, worried, erged from the car, a gift from the new Emperor Laines the Second.
Yet, unlike the harmonious relationship between ruler and minister in the Great Tang Empire, the Pri Minister of the Laines Empire knew full well that this was sothing the new Emperor used to buy his loyalty — the fate of the old Emperor was still an unsolved mystery.
The Pri Minister was originally Laines I’s confidant; he remained in the Imperial Capital to balance the Crown Prince. Unfortunately, with the “fall” of Laines I, the rise of Laines II beca unstoppable.
Helpless, the Pri Minister could only pretend to go along, cooperating with Laines II to control the regi. After all, only then could Laines recover before the real storm arrived.
After tidying his clothes, the Pri Minister ascended the steps, intending to et his new Emperor. During Laines II’s accession, he, the Pri Minister, also exerted considerable effort.
“You are a traitor who brings calamity to the nation!” The sudden shout echoed before anyone could react.
The guards on the stairs widened their eyes; they were utterly surprised that in a place like the Imperial Palace, soone could pull out a handgun from their pocket.
The Pri Minister didn’t expect either that soone truly dared, or rather the one who just sat on the Emperor’s throne, dared to discard him like a donkey at the mill and kill him as the Pri Minister.
Assassination was taboo within the nobility circle; generally, rulers wouldn’t choose such a reckless way to resolve issues of conflict.
After all, this would make the struggle sharp, with both sides using all ans. Such a political environnt obviously wasn’t ideal, one that rulers most loathed to witness.
Therefore, unless absolutely necessary, generally, no one would choose assassination, the least skillful thod, to deal with their opponent.
Yet precisely at a mont even the Pri Minister hadn’t anticipated, an attendant pulled out an exquisite PPK handgun. No one could foresee the young man on the throne acting so hastily, extending his greedy hands toward power!
Moreover, the way he extended his hands was so violent, completely reckless and unpredictable. Such behavior would certainly provoke the nobility’s resentnt and incite political retaliation!
But these were concerns for later; the imdiate situation was genuinely fatal. Instinctively trying to dodge, the Pri Minister was already out of ti. The opponent aid the handgun at him and pulled the trigger.
“Bang!” A bullet pierced the Pri Minister’s chest, his body trembled, and then he looked down to see a hole in his chest. Blood spurted out, staining his Pri Minister’s uniform.
“Bang! Bang!” As if afraid the Pri Minister wouldn’t die, the opponent continued pulling the trigger. Bullet after bullet hit the Pri Minister, one striking his stomach, another his heart.
“Bang! Bang!” The attendant who suddenly drew the handgun fired frantically, ignoring the guards rushing in to stop him.
He emptied his magazine while shouting loudly: “Your son took my daughter; today I’ll make sure you understand this!”
Imdiately after, he was tackled to the ground by the Pri Minister’s guards, unable to raise his gun to commit suicide before his weapon was seized.
“You’re all dood! You’re all dood!” The attendant scread madly before he foad at the mouth, emitting a pungent sll.
“He took poison! Stop him!” The Pri Minister’s guard shouted loudly, but was helpless. He slled almonds, which was a very popular suicide Divine dicine: cyanide.
This stuff is very dangerous and very effective. Just a little bit is enough to lead to a complete death, with no chance of rescue.
The cries from the Pri Minister’s secretary by his side brought everyone’s attention back to reality, as the Pri Minister, hit by several bullets, was already entirely unaware.
Blood had already stained his clothes red, and soon his breathing stopped. He didn’t even wait for the Emperor within the palace to arrive; he had already breathed his last.
Your Majesty! Danger!” The guards of the Forbidden Palace dutifully warned the young Laines II to be cautious, though the Emperor still pushed through the crowd to reach the blood-soaked body of the Pri Minister.
“Why is this happening? Why?” Clearly, the new Emperor truly respected the Pri Minister who bolstered his rise. Holding the corpse, he howled mournfully, his voice full of sorrow.
“You and I, ruler and minister in harmony, were supposed to achieve great things, but… but why did you leave this ss to alone,” the Emperor lanted, heedless of the blood on his hand, woefully asking the question as if there were really soone to answer him.
The doctor hurriedly arrived, confirming then announcing the Pri Minister’s death to the Emperor. The Pri Minister’s guards were isolated by the Imperial Army soldiers outside the circle, helplessly watching their master be covered by the doctor with white cloth.
Everyone knew that no one in this country could check the power of this young Emperor anymore; he was about to seize control, cultivate his confidants, and govern the entire Laines Empire.
Returning to his palace, feeling a chill, Laines II’s eyes still carried tears, yet his entire deanor had drastically changed.
He waved his hand, the people around him sensibly withdrew. This new Emperor of the Laines Empire couldn’t help but unveil a smile within his palace.
He succeeded! He succeeded! Ascended to the throne, removed political enemies, now… he had beco the true master of this country.
As long as he didn’t antagonize the Great Tang Empire, he could call the shots in his empire and enjoy glory and wealth as Emperor…
According to what the Tang Empire’s envoy said, he would soon obtain the support of the Tang Empire, economically and militarily!
And he, as long as he voiced his political support for the Tang Empire, stood by the Tang Empire, supported the Tang Empire in continuing its just warfare… he could enjoy his throne.
Is there any deal in the world more worthwhile than this? He agreed without hesitation. Besides, he also needed to eliminate the obstacles his father left in the court that caused trouble, seize the opportunity to benefit from the Tang Empire, why not?
Thinking this, looking again around the empty surrounding, Laines II couldn’t control his expression any longer. He opened his mouth, revealing his teeth, and erupted into silent laughter.
