Xavier Institute.

Jean, who had just finished giving her last class, left the room and rubbed her tired temples.

"I wonder what Arthur and Gwen are doing now."

"It’s only been two days since I saw them, and I already miss them a little."

When she returned to the Institute and went to see Professor X, he closed the Institute the very next morning.

He told everyone not to leave for a while.

And during this ti, she hadn’t seen Professor X either.

The other X-n mbers had seen this kind of thing often, and most of them didn’t care.

Because only at the Xavier Institute could they feel a sense of relative freedom.

Jean also knew that it was obviously impossible to make Professor X accept those ideas so easily.

This could only be done slowly.

After all, Professor X had stuck to that path for many years.

Sighing, Jean kept walking toward her dorm.

"Logan?"

Suddenly, she noticed Logan walking toward the building where the director’s office was.

Usually, wherever Logan went, it ant Professor X was looking for him.

Jean followed out of curiosity and, at the sa ti, hid herself using her powers to avoid being detected by Professor X.

Logan imdiately noticed she was following him, but decided to ignore it.

Soon they arrived at the office door, and Logan imdiately went inside.

Upon entering, Logan saw Professor X looking out the window.

"Charles, why did you call ?"

"Logan, I’m curious to know who Jean was eting with. Can you tell ?"

Logan’s face imdiately turned strange.

He had forgotten that—or rather, wanted to forget it.

"I don’t know, you know what happened at that mont."

Jean, outside the office, listened closely to their conversation.

Now she knew exactly why Logan had been after her.

Otherwise, with Logan’s personality, why would he suddenly appear in the city?

(Looks like you think I’m an idiot, Jean thought.)

"Logan."

"Um?"

Logan looked at Charles curiously.

"I don’t know what happened during that situation."

"But I’m sure you saw Jean’s friend."

"So you just need to imagine him, and I’ll take a look using my powers."

Jean, at the door, suddenly beca nervous.

If Charles found out about Arthur, would it cause trouble for him?

No!

She couldn’t let Charles do that.

But before Jean could open the door and enter, sothing happened that shocked her even more.

Logan revealed his adamantium claws and said in a threatening tone, "Charles, I swear, if you dare get into my head again, I’ll kill you..."

Logan had sworn that only three people would ever know that.

There would be no fourth person!

Even though Charles was a gentleman, maybe he really would invade his mind like he said.

Logan’s attitude also surprised Charles.

He had known Logan for a long ti, but this was the first ti he’d seen him react so strongly.

In fact, he could have ignored Logan’s words and gone straight into his head.

But Logan was a companion, after all—and he, Charles, still had his morals.

Otherwise, he would have joined Magneto long ago.

"Alright."

Charles sighed with relief and continued, "In truth, I just wanted to know who that person was."

"I have to admit that his idea is really good."

Logan retracted his claws and asked, "Does it really matter who he is?"

"Since Jean’s idea is beneficial to the future of mutants, what you should be thinking about now is how to implent it."

"Not who’s responsible for it."

"Charles, you’re getting old."

For so reason, Charles saw disdain in Logan’s eyes.

"Call next ti there’s a battle."

After saying that, Logan left the office.

Logan sighed as he stepped out.

If Professor X had insisted on entering his mind, Logan wouldn’t really have killed him.

After all, he also considered the Institute his ho...

The X-n, including Charles, were like family to him.

After Logan left, Jean—who had been hidden—also quietly slipped away.

She didn’t know what decision she would make if Charles kept insisting.

Not long after.

"Ahh~ I’m already very old..."

He moved his wheelchair and returned to the window, looking out over the Xavier Institute he had built with his own hands, and at the kids playing on the playground.

In truth, he already knew that if things continued like this, these children would only be able to live within the Xavier Institute forever.

And that would be the best-case scenario.

Just as Jean had said...

Whether it’s Magneto or them, eventually they would lead the mutants to ruin.

"It looks like it’s ti for us to end our fight..."

"Éric..."

Charles raised his right hand and placed it on his temple.

Sowhere else in the world.

An old man with white hair, but in high spirits, was sitting at a table playing chess.

Suddenly, he paused.

The voice of an old friend echoed in his mind.

’Hello, Charles.’

’It’s very rare for you to take the initiative to reach out to .’

(Eric, after all these years, I finally understand that my way of doing things doesn’t work.)

(Do you have so ti?)

(Co to the Xavier Institute. Let’s sit down face to face and talk.)

These words nearly made Magneto jump out of his chair, excited.

After so many years...

This old man finally realized that he was right all along!

What’s gotten into Charles to make him sound so peaceful?

Humans should be extinguished imdiately!

’Wait a bit. I’ll find you as fast as I can...’

’It’s been a long ti since we played chess together.’

Magneto casually packed away the board.

Charles: "???"

Is this how you respond to a heartfelt request from an old man?

’I’ll be there tonight...’
